Blueberry Hill

High three stars for friendly staff (Vickie the bartender and the jack of all trades guy in the back), nice view of the lake, and serving food.
  Simple country bar at the end of the road in one of the contours of Fox Lake that could be a doozy getting in and out of in winter weather. The floors are well worn wood with a formica bartop and wood trim, an old painted black tin cieling with cast features arching down to the two wooden 4 by 4 supports, and aqua marine colored walls.
  There's a pool table, a couple electronic dart boards, three gambling machines, some TVs around the room, and two garage doors in front that give you a great view of the water and allow the place to open up in good weather.
  Had the jambalaya which was pretty good. Not as much heat as I'd like but the cinnamon in it gave it a characteristic flavor that I ran into after the everything's the same Paul Prudhomme stage I initially went through. The fact that the rice was already cooked into it gave it a slightly viscous texture like okra that wouldn't be for everyone but wasn't something you couldn't get past. Plenty of shrimp were in it, 26-30 or 31-35s, but the sausage was spicy Italian and I'd really rather see Andouille if you're going to cook New Orleans. Nice round flavor without the tomato being overbearing.
  All in all I had a pleasant time and would go back if I'm up that way again.

A friend of mine sent out an e-vite through Facebook for an end of the year gathering (not a New Years party). Though a rather small place, the prices for beer were very reasonable. one unique thing about this place is when you get a draft beer, it comes in a mason jar.
I hope to come back to BH very soon.

This dive bar is as trashy as they come. If you want to hang out in a place where your safety is questioned (as I have seen several different people attacked here one of the people was a woman!!) then this is the place for you! In a town where bars are plenty, do yourself a favor and walk a few more blocks down and choose the Bear Den instead at least there you'll be leaving without being accosted and may have a chance at actually enjoying your night.
