I first went to Bojo's when it first opened.  As someone else commented, it was supposed to have had a Cajun feel to it then.  It was hard to tell.  I wasn't impressed at all, particularly because of the low ceiling that caused the huge smoke clouds to be in one's face.  I am not in favor of the government outlawing smoking in public places, but it has helped the atmosphere here.

Unfortunately, there are still drawbacks.  I returned for a function.  We had the "private" room.  It had a "window" on one wall that had no glass, so everyone who walked by (presumably to the lavatory) could be heard in the room.  The room is very small and was inadequate, imo, for the group.  The air conditioning did not cool the room well enough for me.

We had bruschetta (eh), salad, bread, ziti, meatballs (good), and sausage and peppers (overcooked).  The soda I had tasted of the cleaning agent that was used either on the glass or the soda line.  I did not finish the one glass.  As a soda drinker, that is quite surprising over a two-hour event.

The music started (DJ) before our event was over.  There was no squelching the sound in the room.  It was not good music at all.

There was nothing that impressed me to voluntarily return and spend money here.

BoJo's originally marketed itself as a New Orleans-style place where every day was Mardi Gras and the Po'Boy Sammiches and Hurricanes flew out of the kitchen and bar like a tropical storm.

Somewhere along the way it became just another lame-ass sports bar where washed-up high-school football star wannabees and their ex-wives come to get pickled and look for companionship through beer goggles.

It's just a big open room with a large bar in the center.

They have live music on a regular basis, but the place is just a huge echo-chamber. The local bands' sound guys either don't care or don't have the skills to compensate for this environment. They usually just slide everything up to 11 and go out back to grab a smoke.

Poker nights, when in season are a big draw.

There are better bars in town. One or two within crawling distance.

I should preface this by saying that I'm not a bar-fly, so perhaps my review is not as objective as it should be.  But...

I've been to BoJo's exactly once.  I'll got back to BoJo's exactly never.

Went there on a weekend, the place was pretty much deserted except a few very pathetic looking lonely over-40 crowd.  A HORRIBLE band was playing WAY louder than necessary.  We used the bathroom before we sat down.  Tried to pee while suffering through the awful music, when my husband and I came out of the bathroom, we looked at each other and decided to go elsewhere.  The band was just THAT bad.  No amount of alcohol would have convinced me they were worth listening too.

Although from the outside Bojo's looks nice, inside it's lacking.  It's one huge room with the bar in the center.  There is nothing remotely welcoming or cozy about the bar AT all.  It's a popular hang out for watching sports games because of the open floor plan, but its horrible for cozying up with friends in a corner and getting schnockered.  Just not my kinda place.
