Best beer selection I've ever experienced.  All the beers are posted on a chalkboard based on bitterness and alcohol content. Samples given to ensure you like what you order.  Food is good with flatbread exceptional and the servers knowledgable and friendly.  We have come alone and with friends and truly enjoyed it both times.

Great place for food, drinks, and a relaxing environment.
Not a "get drunk" type of bar, more of "mellow buzz" type of bar.

Food is a couple notches above standard bar food as well.

    Great beer selection.
Good food that is several steps above typical pub food.  Try the Cobb Mac&Cheese
The woman behind the bar was very helpful with beer selection.

Boneshaker is an awesome place for beer lovers who want a casual place to hang out and enjoy their favorite beer or try new ones! The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. Great beer selections, yum. Love this place.

Pretty good beer selection.  It can be a little confusing on your first visit in terms of how to place your order.  There are signs to direct you.  You walk up to the counter and place your order and then sit down or you can sit down and figure out what you want to order and then go up to the bar to place your order.  Your food and drink will be brought out to you.  Beer selection is pretty good.  Wine selection is decent.  My wife's favorite wine was not available on a couple of occasions after originally being available.  The wine should probably be taken off the list when it's not available.  It would be easy to erase off the chalk board.  The Cheesy Mac is really good!  Like damn good.  Hit this place up at happy hour if you can.  Last I knew, they extended happy hour to seven days a week.  It's not like a major discount on drinks, but it helps quite a bit on the food.  It would rock if the discount on drinks was better.

You can get a wifi connection for free but it's from the coffee house next door.

Stopped in here after filling up on PK sushi on Memorial day. Very chill atmosphere, a little hipster but that didn't bother me. The beer selection was pretty good, they had a wide variety from a pilsner, wheat beer, dark malty scottish ale, to hoppy double IPAs and imperial IPAs. The prices are good too, you can get a 9oz for $3 on most beers so you don't have to buy a pint of something you might not like. I will coming back to sample some food and some more tasty beer!

    Out of Reuben Sandwich
Nothing behind the bar to make a cherry coke
Ordered something else to find out they are out of the side I ordered
Put cheese on sandwich when no cheese was ordered
Came back after five minutes to tell us the did not have enough macaroni for a full order of Mac and cheese just a half seriously!

    MAC AND CHEESE.

The pesto M&C could do without the sundried but other than that there is a wide beer selection and multiple version of their mac and cheese. Who don't love Mac and Cheese?

It was my first time here so I was glad I went with someone who had been here before. If I hadn't, I would've stood by the door...... lost...... and confused. So, FYI, you have to seat yourself and order at the bar.

The gentleman that helped us was very friendly. We had beer (of course), which was smooth and delicious. Unfortunately, I don't remember which one I had. All I know is that it's similar to Blue Moon with a bit of tang. We tried their Carnitas Mac & Cheese...........YUM! We also tried their Hummus Plate which was served with warm pita bread and a big portion of hummus.

    I will definitely be back!

This is the coolest Mico Brew Pub.  They always have something different to try.  The food is super good and the atmosphere is always fun.  This is a must try when in Placer County.

I had the chicken pesto Mack & cheese. I was jealous of my buddies' carnitas & jalapeno Mac n' cheese and wished I'd ordered his dish when it came cause it looked and smelled so dang good. Mine was actually surprisingly good too when I dug into it, especially cause he bummed me a few jalapenos.

Me: "Hun, don't forget I'm having dinner with the girls tonight."
    Fiance: "Where?"
    Me:  "Boneshakers"
Fiance:  with a look of skepticism, "That's a bar."
    Me:  "I know."
Fiance: "Your girlfriends don't drink beer"
Me:  "We're going for the 6 different mac and cheese options"

And then everything made sense! - We're foodies.  He knows this!  LOL.  For the record, Mymy N. drinks beer!

My foodie friends and I LOVE mac and cheese.  If it's on the menu, we have to try it.  When we found out Boneshakers had 6 different kinds we had to go! When we got there we had to make difficult decisions about whether or not we should order them all at once or make this a two day mac and cheese fest, which ones were our top priority we just had to try mac and cheeses.  In the end we each chose one to share.  We ordered:

    1.  Cheesy Mac:  Irish Cheddar, penne pasta, topped with bread crumbs.  To be on the safe side we ordered the original.  After tasting the other two macs, it was just blah!  But amazingly yummy blah!
    2. Carnitas Mac :  house smoked salsa braised pork with jalapenos - this one was my fave!  The pork melted in your mouth.  The cheese, penne pasta, pork, all at once was magical.
    3.  Philly Mac:  slow smoked tri tip, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and red & green bell peppers- so very tasty!
    4.  Fish Tacos:  We ordered this just to try.   But after having flavorful mac and cheese, it just didn't hold on it's own.  It was just OK.
    5.  3 baby pretzels: Pretzels were warm and soft and the mustard seeds in the side sauce was a nice pairing,
    6. Salad - we ordered that so we got our veggies in. lol.  Plus it made us feel better after ordering all that other food.

This place is a Bar!  With a pretty good beer selection.  Small place, seating limited if there is a crowd.  Glad for the experience and the time with the girl friends :)  Can't wait to go back to try the last 3 macs!

One star for good food, one star for a good selection of beers and no stars for service, because it was non-existent.

We were so excited to go here after hearing so many great reviews. We went late on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy. We were greeted with an abrupt "Hi." by a red headed bartender when we went to place our order. We got our drinks and then our food. Then my husband went to get another drink at the bar and he waited and waited and waited while the red headed bartender played on her cell phone, another bartender was writing on a piece of paper and never looked up the whole time and the third person stood in the door way of the kitchen looking at his cell phone. One of the patrons at the bar told us that it was usually not like this on Friday nights when the manager is there. Finally when my my husband got someone's attention, he decided to get the bill and a to-go box because I had already finished my meal by the time some actually decided to do some work.

Not one person working there said, "What can I get for you?", " Can I help you?" or even  "Thank  you" when we paid the bill. It was just an awkward quiet vibe and everyone working there looked bored or annoyed to be there.

    Bad Saturday night.

No question they have an amazing selection of local beers.  No question the beer-educators are super friendly and helpful.  I'm mostly a Shock Top / Blue Moon girl :)  But the bartender was super helpful and let me try a taste of a couple until I settled on  a brew from Upright Brewing.

The place is super tiny but they do have an outdoor seating area too which will come in handy as the weather gets nicer.  As long as you know it's tiny, you know to get there early so it's not an issue.

The only issue I had was with my food - I ordered the cheese steak mac & cheese.  I don't know, maybe all the reviews I read built it up too much for me.  But it was just okay.  I didn't get a lot of ooey-gooey with it (actually it seemed kinda dry), the carmelized red onions weren't (they were raw), the meat was there but my expectation was for more meat than there was and something was missing in the flavors.  I'm not sure what but, for me, something just wasn't there.  My friends all enjoyed their food - no question.

I think next time I'll stick with beer and one of the sando's (which got rave reviews from my friend) :)

Tried this place for the first time last night and we really enjoyed it.  It has that pub feel and there are a ton of beers on tap.  I like how most of the beers are local and since you can get 9oz glasses you don't spend too much.

We had the hummus plate, very yummy.  I had the carnitas Mac n cheese.  It was good, but too spicy for my wife.  She had the Chicken Pesto one and liked it.

Only thing making this 4 stars instead of 5 is how you have to order at the bar.  I wish they had some servers.

The selection of beers and the menu are great. The staff is friendly and efficient so that is always a plus! The Cons are the limited parking and how small this place is. Happy Hour leaves many to standing and crowded so if you plan on eating it can be a challenge drinking a beer and holding a plate/utensils. I made the trek from Citrus Heights to try this place out during Beer Week. In all it was a pleasant experience.

I like this place! It's the only place in Rocklin that has this particular pub vibe, and it's a welcome spot to hang out if you're in need of a drink (post-work, ya feel me?). Great ambience, not divey at all. It gets pretty packed in the evenings and it is already tight-quarters. If you want to order you have to be pretty assertive to get the bartender's attention.

I wish I could comment on the beer selection, but alas I am not a beer drinker (it's nice that they usually have a couple different ciders on hand). But I do see a lot of local brews, and my beer-loving friends approve.

Oh yeah! They have yummy happy hour food - the mac and cheese is savory. The flatbread pizzas are a great deal - filling, delicious, and the price is right!

I often meet friends at Boneshaker and occasionally I'll pop in for a drink after I finish up a shift at the coffee shop next door. It's a cute place, but really small and not great for large groups.  I don't drink beer often so I can't review that. They do have a wine selection with prices ranging from about $6.50 to $11 per glass, but they often seem to be out of the lower priced selections when I go in.  I've also noticed how much wine constitutes a glass depends on the bartender that night. There's one (don't know her name) who seems to favor the men - more than once I've watched her pour a guy's glass fuller than a woman's.

I haven't had any issues with the quality of the food, but it is a bit pricey. I've had their gyro and meatball sandwich and both were great. I hear the mac & cheese is awesome but haven't tried it yet.

Thank you, Boneshaker, for saving me from Yard House, where it seemed most of my friends would want to meet for a drink. I dreaded when someone would suggest meeting there. I'm not a fan of the food or the atmosphere. Now I'm first to suggest a place instead.

Dear Boneshaker, I don't know what we did before you.

I remember the cold, empty Yard House days, when I would have to fight bros to get a mediocre pour from a line that had never been cleaned. But then you showed up.

I can visit you, week after week, and find tons of new beers and great food and excellent prices. You have so many styles. You support local breweries. You are friendly, comfortable, and you have good beer. No, you have great beer.

I, like so many others, will keep supporting you. And why? Because you're awesome.

First off this is a SMALL PLACE . ALL SEATING IS FIRST COME. And you ORDER AT THE REGISTER.   Just wanted to get that out of the way up front so no one complains about any of that. Reminded me of Sam Horne's in Folsom but not as cozy.

EXCELLENT BEER SELECTION - If your reason for coming here is GOOD BEER then you will be happy. They have pub food which I found to be on par or slightly better than similar establishments.  Place is cramped when it is crowded.  And if it is cold outside and the door is opening a lot it will be cold inside so be prepared.  They have a fire pit out front with some tables too.  I give them a thumbs up for using  LED light bulbs but they make the lighting too bright and not cozy like  a pub should be  ... But after a few pints you won't care about anything I was just whining about.

Biggest issues I had was with the parking.   It is very easy to drive out of the plaza accidently during your first visit and have to make an endless amount of u-turns to get back in.  SO DON'T TRY TO PARK RIGHT IN FRONT. Also there were quite a few  pretentious "Rocklin-ites"  there the Saturday night when we were visited  but not sure if that is the norm.

    I'll be back!

I absolutly love it here!!! My roommate and I decided to try this one day just for the heck of it.  Neither one of us is a huge beer drinker...but we ended up finding something we like (I have found a few over the last few visits).  Everytime I have come I have asked for reccomendations from the staff and sometimes they arent the best (you dont know unless you try) and sometimes they are absolutly amazing!  The food is simple and tasty as well.  The beers change constatnly so It is a great place to keep going to discover something new!

Hands down, the BEST place for a beer in the Rocklin/Roseville area, the food is also TOP NOTCH and much better than most pub fair! The staff is very friendly and knowledgable about their beer selections, the owners work the bar often and are always very approachable. I wish nothing but continued success for their future endeavors!

99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer, take one down pass it around..

OK, now that that is stuck in your head for the rest of the day......

I love beer. Seriously. Like how some people love their children or their spouses? That's what beer is for me. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, baseball game, mowing the lawn, hanging with friends, it's the beverage that not only goes with everything, but the beverage that makes everything better.
That being clarified, I have to let you know that I just found my Nirvana- really. As in I may have to move to Rocklin nirvana. My life has been forever changed.

You walk into this dark little place and head straight back to the huge chalkboard that has around 6 trillion beers on it, with brief descriptions of what each individual brew promises your palate. A super friendly bartender will help you narrow down the selection by giving you tastes of whatever catches your eye.  Last night I went with an Old Rasputin, folllowed by a coffee porter (I can't remember the name, the alcohol content in these beers is way higher than your standard PBR) and sampled everyone at the tables beers as well. (sorry about not catching the names of each one, but I can tell you they were delicious)

The food here is good enough to show up just for the food (though I'm not sure why you would) I see my fellow yelpers found this spot a year ago, and everything they tell you about the ridiculously insane mac& cheese is true. I also had the pulled pork 'sando' ...smoked porter bbq sauce with a slice of pineapple, cheddar cheese and carmelized onions.. the smokiness of the bbq coupled with the sweetness of the pineapple went so well with the Rasputin that I'm currently drooling on my keyboard writing about it.

I will be back- frequently, and I'll be scheming on a way to get the owners to open a second location in midtown ;-)

SO many great beers!  I wish I wasn't the driver that night, but I got to taste everything my group ordered, and the one stout I had was awesome.

I had the veggie panini, it was very good.  My husband had a steak and cheese sandwich, it was also very good.  It's a traditional pub setup, so you have to order at the bar - if we didn't know this we might have been put off by no waiter coming by, but we did see the sign on the wall.  They will bring food out to you at your table once you've ordered.    Looking forward to going back!

We came for the food but wish we hadn't.  Pubs are supposed to have good food, and with so many positive reviews, we figured this would be a winner.  Nope.  The 2 stars are only for the mac and cheese, which was tasty.  The Italian sando was awful - hardly any meat, and the bread was dry (definitely not fresh) - I had to remove the bread entirely.  The meat and cheese plate was ok - the menu said it had veggies, but sun-dried tomatoes and olives do not constitute veggies. For a sandwich, an appetizer, mac and cheese, and one soda, our total was $38.  It would have been ok if the food were good, but it really wasn't.

Once the novelty of Yard House wears off, people will soon realize that Boneshaker is the best Public House in the Roseville/Rocklin area.  Local beers, specialty beers, seasonal beers, and even some good cider's for the pansies out there.

Staff is very knowledgeable about there current offerings and will help you sort through the long list of beers you've never heard of to find the perfect fit for you.

Watch out for the high alc. content though....it'll sneak up on you :)

Only thing keeping this place from 5 stars is a bit of attitude from some of the lady bartenders....I guess they aren't called beer wenches for nothing.

Where do I even start?  Ok, I guess I'll start with BEER! DUH!

I first came to Boneshaker for Zach L's Humpy hour (back in December or January I think).  I was one of those people who's taste for beer did not steer far from Budweiser, Blue Moon or Heineken.  Let me just tell you a combination of Zach's amazing palette and Boneshaker's awesome bartenders have brought this boring girl to a CRAFT BEER DRINKING FIEND.

They change their taps at least a few times a week it seems.  I am here at least once to twice a week.  If you find something you really like then you better come back soon to get a 2nd taste.

So, simply said, the beer selection is amazing!

The owners are a great couple with the ability to quickly become your friends.  They have a great sense of business and genuinely love to hear feedback good or bad.  I have never seen Katie without a smile on her face and you can tell she really loves what she does.

Dan is by far my favorite bartender.  Smiley, bubbly and genuine.

The food is great too!  Their mac n cheese is to die for.  I personally steer toward the carnitas mac.  It is made with penne pasta and an abundance of melty gooey goodness!

Price is simply great.  Their location is extremely convenient and a welcomed addition to our Rocklin area.

I've heard great things about this place...
However, my experience wasn't so great. I walked in and no one who worked there seemed to care. That was alright. It seemed to be filled with people who knew this place well. So my husband and I sat for almost 10 minutes trying to decide if we wanted to stay or go. The entire time, not one person asked us if we had ever been here, wanted something to drink, needed some help deciding... Nothing. I'm no beer connoisseur... But I wanted something great. Something different.
    GIVE ME A SUGGESTION.
So we left. Of course no one said bye.
    I won't ever be back.

Hint: Order food and drink at the bar. They are more than happy to let you taste one or two before you commit........NICE selection of local and other beers on tap, bottled and a decent wine choice too!

We tried the Highwater Campfire Stout.........totally weird and awesome!
                      Berryessa Road House Ale.....................great

Very small and casual they were happy to put on the Giants game for us, just yummy!

Never even knew such place existed in Rocklin. I think I've found a new place to kick it. I love the atmosphere inside and the employees are extra friendly, especially the bartender. I love beer, but don't know the differences or the terminology. The only thing I know and love is Sea Dog (blueberry beer), so the bartender (I didn't get his name) taught me some new beer lingo and I loved the fact that he let me taste a handful of different types of beers; it was awesome because it was a shot of beers (but I didn't take it as a shot... that would've been funny).

Eventually, I ordered the Omegaman?? Something like that. I really liked it. My boyfriend, sister, and friend ordered the exact same thing which was the "sampler." That's not really what it's called but I call it that because it comes with five different beers in a small glass. I tried all five of them and didn't really like the dessert beer (Liefmans) which is kinda red/pink, and tasted like cherry medicine to me. Everything else was great =)

Another factor I liked was the menu, there were so many to choose from and the names for each one were pretty amusing. Apparently, the number on the left side next to the name of the beer means how much alcohol content is in each one, so that was very handy; of course I wanted the one with the most alcohol content.. hah!

Most definitely coming back for more beer and because I love the name so much!!

Love the name, liked the food, loved the selection of brews.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, sort of looks like a fast food place in a strip mall.  Don't let the outside looks deceive you... get in here, you won't be disappointed.

Barkeeps were friendly and beer knowledgeable.  They have a lot of micros to choose from and they let you sample a few before deciding on your eventual pint.

I tried the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and it wasn't bad.  They had some flatbreads that sounded interested too.

I definitely recommend trying this place.

Boneshaker has a vast, unique and ever-changing beer selection.

The food options are good as I generally stick to the appetizers and beer.

The atmosphere is pretty laid back and good for a small group to sit and chat.

For some reason the Roseville douchebags haven't found this place yet...probably because they don't serve Coors Light.

Located in Rocklin Park Plaza along with PK Sushi and Origin Coffee.. on the corner of Sunset and Park.

It's a small place. They keep it dark inside. They also have a small outdoor seating area in front.
Boneshaker, although I understand where it truly stems from-- bikes.. I can't help the immature in me.. Boneshaker.. C'mon.

They have rotating craft beers on tap (see chalkboard) as well as bottles. And wine. Beer and wine. No liquor. They also have good food including several variations of Mac 'n Cheese (but it's not really macaroni pasta, mind you). Order at the bar and the food will come out wherever you decided to sit.

And yes, they have a happy hour with food and drink specials during the week from 3-6.

If Yardhouse is the big corporate company, Boneshaker is the independent hip small business that is doing everything right.

Great beer selection, just enough food options to keep you from getting too hammered and a very cool design.

Pros: You can sample beers before you order, the staff is really nice and knowledgeable and they have TVs, so you can catch the game with a cold beer you've never tried before.

Cons: The parking lot can get really crowded especially around dinner time on a weekend, but be patient, Boneshaker is worth the trip.

Overall: If you love beer, you'll love Boneshaker.

    Great Spot!

This place is definitely needed in Rocklin.  It is a nice small pub that can get full quick.  Since they have a lot selection of beers I usually just narrow it down to the ones with the highest percentage of alcohol.  The food is really good, I got the pesto mac & cheese which was cooked very well.

The only problem about this place that I experienced was the long wait time for the food.  Maybe it was just that day or something because my buddy ordered one minute before I did and I got my food about 10 minutes after he did (we ordered the same thing).

    Will be back again though!

Oh what a little treasure! It's in the most unassuming spot on a block of strip mall shops and flanked by a McDonalds and other chain restaurants. This places beer list is (forgive the sophomoric language I'm about to drop) REEDONKULOUS! It's like my very own neighborhood Monk's Kettle and sh*t you not, I did a little football victory dance at the counter when I looked up and realized just what I was in the presence of.

A pint of red ale in my left hand and a forkful of carnitas mac n' cheese in the other is exactly how I might have to spend my cheat days from now on. For those of you who want to keep that girlish figure looking more like a supermodel than a Kardashian, they do offer salads also. Might I recommend the Staccato salad? With it's bright raspberry vinaigrette, healthy helpings of gorgonzola cheese and sweet cranberries, it's a great counterbalance to the aforementioned mac n' cheese.

If you're not interested in eating and more interested in beer and a good conversation with the bartender, then you're in luck. I haven't met more capable, cheeky and unapologetic bartenders this many miles north of San Francisco and it's truly the bartenders that make or break a bar. I almost hesitate writing this review 'cause I enjoy finding an open spot after a hard night's workout.

But sadly for me, this is truly the best bar in town and soon enough, you'll all figure it out.
