Boondocks Lounge

It's a dive bar.  We like to go as a group of friends.  I have been twice now, and each time there is a cover.  You can usually negogiate on how much you pay if you have a large enough group.  I think the same band was playing - over a year later from my initial visit.  The band was good, played mostly cover songs.  The bartenders were attentive and quick to the pour.  Some of the drinks seemed expensive for the location.

I like the place, it's a bar, not some corporate restaurant. I had their fish fry once, it was okay, bar food.

Probably won't eat there again because the restrooms are nasty. If the restroom is dirty, I wonder what the kitchen looks like. I'm not talking messy, I am saying DIRTY, like ten years of dust on the lamps & fans, black goo crawling up the wall six inches. They could use some bleach and a scrub brush, or a blow torch and shovel if they really wanted to clean it up.

I go because the staff is nice and I enjoy the bands. Decent sized dance floor, decent crowd. Nothing fancy, just comfortable. It feels like they have real air conditioning, not swamp cooler, so the place is nice and cool during monsoon. That alone makes me overlook the scary ladies room.

Seriously a $5 cover when there were like 5 people in the place?  I came here on a saturday night to see my friends band play.  I love the band, but its really hard to get people to come see them play.  I can see if there was a sold out crowd to have a cover fee, but seriously 6pm on a saturday night?  The waitress was very friendly and attentive to our needs.
