I loooveeeeeeeeee this place! Â
While I was going to JMU I found out about this place. Â I only wish I had found out about it sooner so I could've been going all along!
Their food is really good. Â This place looks like what I was imagine a standard irish pub tries to go for.
I typically get the Monte Cristo sandwich with fries and the queso dip to start. Â It's always amazing and it is my favorite. Â I have gotten a salad before and other sandwiches which were always good but I prefer my favorite. Â They also have some good soups and chowder.
I'm not a drinker but they have plenty of beer.
I've moved away from Harrisonburg but whenever I visit JMU for football games or roommate reunions or sorority events I make it a point to eat lunch or dinner here at least once.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Harrisonburg.
We came in today because there was a NFL Sunday Ticket flyer on their front window. Harrisonburg has a limited number of places for NFL football watching.
Taylor was our server and took good care of us during our lunch and afterwards while we were watching football. Unlike the previous reviewer, my burger was more than ok ($7.99 Pub Burger). Motrya's dijon grilled chicken salad ($7.99) plus a side salad ($1.99 extra in place of fries) were also excellent!
Would like to try some of their happy hour deals during the workweek.
FYI - their actual street address is: 1625 E. Market St; Harrisonburg, VA 22801
Consistently good food and atmosphere. Â We have family in the area and we always request to go to the Beanery for dinner! Â The tavern is close to JMU and college students work as servers - so tipping well is very much appreciated and earned. Â This kids hustle! Â The classic Beanery sandwich is incredible - the prime rib sandwich was amazing, and I have had 3 of the large salads they create - dressing on the side, they are amazing as well. Â Service with an enthusiastic hop and fun pleasant ambiance.
Review Source:Ate here with my son yesterday. Â The place is nicely decorated and the service was quick and good. Â I had the Hamburger and thought it was very good. Â My son ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and was disappointed. Â I thought it looked weird when it arrived. Â It had some type of sauce in the sandwich which my son said pretty much ruined it. Â It certainly didn't look like any cheesesteak we had ever seen before. Â He had been up studying all night for an exam he just finished so we didn't send it back. Â He just wanted to eat and go home to sleep. Â I'd return here but would advise against getting this.
Review Source:The Boston Beanery....WOW! I am shocked that no one has reviewed it yet.
If you are looking for a good meal that will leave you full and happy, this is the place to go. They serve all the best comfort food as well as tasty salads and great drinks.
I have many great college memories from this place and hope that the boom that finally hit Harrisonburg hasn't made anyone forget this tried and true yummy location.
