I was looking for a place in the area that was showing UFC 162 this last weekend, and Bottomzup was the third place I called, and the girl on the phone informed me they were showing it, and there was no cover charge. Sweet!
Let me backtrack a little and say that I'm a female, who just happens to love watching UFC fights, and Bottomzup was definitely a great location! I can see how it caters to the male crowd, with the girls' uniforms reminiscent of Hooters, but they were red/white/blue, vs. the orange shorts (I actually worked at Hooters throughout all of my undergrad, so I ain't even hatin').
I dragged another girlfriend with me, and we snagged some seats at the bar! We had a few beers, and I ordered the lucy juice sliders and my friend had the ribs. The sliders were actually really good. There were three of them, and they were pretty small, but filling enough for me. The owner, Eddie (I think that was his name?), came around and asked how we were doing, which I thought was cool! He told me that he created the sliders- they had like bacon and cheese or something inside.. Yum! And my friend enjoyed her ribs, but she couldn't finish them because it was a good-sized portion!
Service was decent enough. In a bar filled with dudes, I wouldn't expect the girlies to be paying attention to my friend and me, haha. Duh. But service was still great and I have no complaints.
As for the fight, this place is a GREAT location to watch UFC or any other sporting event. They have TV's lined up side-by-side along the walls of the restaurant. I wish they had an occasional larger TV in some parts of the room, but hey, it's already awesome enough with what they have.
I'll definitely be back for the next fight! :)
Decided to try this bar when driving down Jericho trnpke, I saw a bus covered in an ad for this spot. A buddy of mine ad I went there to watch a Yankee game on a Wednesday. We figured on trying this place mid week to avoid the Thursday/Friday crowd. The place is huge and we were two of maybe 15 patrons present.
The good : no shortage of tv's, beautiful waitresses and bartenders. A decent choice of beers.
The bad : food does not justify the price; $14 for a burger. Checkers or Five Guys make a better burger for half the price. Our burgers took nearly 30 min to leave the kitchen, which is unjustifiable when here are only 15 patrons, half which are only drinking at the bar.
Also, I noticed a sushi bar which one brave patron ordered from. I can't comment on the sushi bc I know better than to try sushi at an American burger/wing joint.
In a nutshell, we paid $70 for two subpar burgers and a couple of drinks. I can however say that our waitress was knowledgable and friendly, but I can't imagine how long it would take for food to come out on a busy night.
What a disappointment! Â I went with my husband and teenaged son for dinner at 7:45 on a Saturday night. The place was empty. We had a groupon so we decided to try it out. Â The food was typical, nothing special and the drinks were watered down. Before we placed our order, I informed our waitress that we had a groupon. My husband was going to order the strip steak but the waitress informed us that it was not included in the groupon. Instead he opted for the skirt steak.
When the bill came we were charged 21 dollars for the skirt steak and they instead included my 13 dollar steak sandwich and the other entree as part of the groupon.  When we questioned it we were informed that none of the steak entrees were included in the groupon.  The owner (I believe it was the owner) came to our table and was quite rude. I tried to explain that his waitresses need to inform new patrons of what is included and not included in these specials. How can she say something is not included but not know that the next thing we ordered was also not included?  The menu is very limited with only 5 entrees and 2 of them were not included in the groupon. The skirt streak was less expensive then the ribs which was included. I don't get it.  The owner was not nice and told me he didn't care if I was disappointed and didn't come back. Really?  Well that's no problem for me.  I will never go back there again. Places like this are a dime  a dozen.  If I was a betting woman, I would say that Bottumzup will not be around much longer. Â
Oh and just an FYI, I found it quite suspicious that all of the beginning reviews in February were all 5 stars and all gushing about this place. Can anyone say, ringers? Â Planting positive reviews to boost your image is pretty unethical and shady.
This place LOOKS like it would have awesome food. The kitchen is on display and everything LOOKS really delicious when it comes out on the plates, but it's sub-par at most. My turkey burger was not very good, and my coworker's jambalaya was absolutely horrible. The girls serving us were very nice, but the food took way too long to come out.
Once we received our bills, all of my coworkers who ordered bacon cheeseburgers, listed as $14 on the menu, were charged an additional $1.25 for the addition of cheese...Apparently it had something to do with their new computers. Our server noticed it on the bill before she served the check, but the manager told her to leave it as is. One coworker decided to stay and duke it out with the manager, which turned into a lengthy discussion. The whole experience was just really annoying and unsatisfying.
I am so glad we went her on a Groupon. If not, I'd feel ripped off!
Came in on a Wednesday night. The place was busy since there were hockey playoff games and a Knicks playoff game. Wasn't packed, there were empty tables, but still the kitchen was backed up and our food took a long time to come out.
We started with the ribs appetizer. The ribs were nice and meaty. The meat was extremely tender, but there was too much sauce - an easy fix and we enjoyed them.
My wife had a hamburger and this was their real sweet spot. I had the "bone in" New York Strip steak. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was more medium, but still juicy enough. The steak was tasty, but there was no bone to be seen and this was not a great piece of steak. If I had paid full price this would have gone back. Too thin for the money. Closer to a diner steak than the "dry aged" steak that was advertised.
Onto the service. It took over a half an hour for our appetizer to come out. Totally ridiculous. At this point our waitress was still getting a pass since she was very friendly and did stop by once or twice. However, I don't think the senior management here has a clue. At one point one of the managers started talking to one of the waitresses over our table. Really? Then, when we were waiting for a while to ask our waitress for the check we had to ask another manager to please send over our waitress. It took him a few minutes to find out who our waitress was (obviously no sections, maybe that's part of the service problems). He did get her to come over, but then the "bar manager" came over to find out if there were any problems. Where were you when we were looking for our waitress for 15 minutes? Now that she's back on the case you're coming over? This also seemed to upset our waitress that a  manager came over, because all of a sudden she got really cold on us. Shame, because what was planned to be a generous tip thanks to the Groupon savings turned into a mediocre tip due to the slow service.
My suggestion for those looking to go to Bottomzup - be ready to sit a long while and stick to the burgers.
Was there on a Tuesday night. Place wasn't even half full but it still took our waitress 20 minutes to get our first round of beers (bartender's fault) and over 15 minutes to get a second round from the bartender. Food was good but ticket times were slow. Took 20 min to get appetizers and one of our group never got theirs at all. Burgers took just as long after appetizers. Waitress seemed very unattentive. Dance music playing was way too loud and echoed due to the high ceilings and length of the bar. 10% off check for signing up for VIP card but unless they hire more skilled bartenders and servers I doubt I'd return.
Review Source:When I walked in, I loved it! Â TVs everywhere. Sports memorabilia everywhere! Good beer selection. Will certainly go back again for a big game or UFC! Â We , however, had a groupon and went for dinner. Dinner was bad bad bar food. Service extremely slow. I would never eat there again. As far as the atmosphere and bar scene, I'd give it a 5 star!!!
Review Source:Skimpy clothes and drinks.
Following the usual formula of these types of places, we find young girls who don't mind wearing short-shorts that crawl all the way up their asses in order to bang out a few extra dollars in tips. Â The formula works or there wouldn't be so many of these types of places around.
Our bartender was cute as hell and rocking body aside, was pretty inept with any type of drink that contained more than two ingredients - and as you get older the cutsie shit wears off and you just want your drink...
The one thing that does put this place a bit higher on the food chain than the competition is the food. Â They were smart enough to put a sushi kiosk in the bar area and you can order freshly made sushi right there- great idea and beats the hell out of just offering fried bar foods.
We did try some of the typical bar food items and those too, just seemed better than the usual apps you get everywhere else. Â
The place is large and I assume does a banging business- we were there in the middle of the week and it wasn't too crazy. Â I can see it filling up with young dudes who want to oogle fake tits but I avoid that scene.
Better than average but at the end of the day, a sports bar it is. Â Prices were average. Â sushi was decently priced BTW.
Parking in the rear is not so noticeable but there is plenty of it.
Another sportsbar with girlie bartenders wearing skimpy uniforms -oh yeah! if you like that sort of thing then this place is for you. Â
Atmosphere is pretty nice with flat screens everywhere - service is ok, and for the food?
Of course I had the wings, and they're pretty GOOD - wings are big, meaty, pretty juicy and cooked fairly well - the sauce however is lacking (ordered hot and it kinda tastes like water).
Also had the ribs, and those where BAD - chewy crap with a bbq sauce that had nothing but a sweet taste to it.
Also had the calamari, and it wasn't bad it was HORRIBLE - the marinara was disgusting and the calamari hardly had any meat - it was just mostly covered with batter and it wasn't even cooked properly! the ones at the bottom of the basket were kinda raw :
Overall, it's not a bad place to grab a beer with the fellas... just beers.
Really good sports bar that opened recently. I have been looking for a sports bar with good good and that is nice. This fits the bill. Food is really good and fresh. Its a few steps above Wings and Canz. I would definitely go back. Looking forward to some UFC fights and football there.
Owners were really nice too and seemed involved
Food is really good. Â Service is typical for this type of bar. But one girl Lauren is the worst bartender I've seen in 20 yrs. she either only cares about taking pics of herself or she was on something that made her have no idea what she was doing. Â We had to keep asking others for help bc she was locked into one guy at the bar and had zero interest in anyone else. Â So annoying we left and dropped 300 dollars at another bar up the block. Â She's bad for business.
Review Source:If you're looking for a full bar, hot chicks and amazing food, this place is bombdotcom. Definitely try their fried pickles. I had their Grilled Steak Sandwich, which was perfectly prepared and it had a little kick too, which I like. It was served with house-made potato chips which are also available at the bar. Good stuff all around.
