I can't stay away from here! I practically live on their Vegan Chicken Big Lebowski! It's so hard to find good restaurants that serve vegan and vegetarian foods, and theirs are absolutely delicious! They are also super affordable and super convenient for pick up! Their new dinner menu is amazing and so high class! They have such fresh food, and an extensive beer and wine selection. Try their coconut macaroon sundae and you'll be in heaven.
Review Source:So this place is a bit of a different experience. Â It is truly a cafe from a service aspect and the name has been so overused that people have forgotten what one looks like. Â Seat yourself and limited, but good, service from behind the counter. Â It's obvious that the owners have invested a lot of pride in this place. Â They have a movie store attached and the menu is completely movie themed.
My youngest son and I went with the Pig Hunt. Â I never saw the movie but the pizza includes shredded pork, bacon, garlic and diced tomatos. Â My older chose to stick with a sammie and ordered the Animal House (Meatball Sub). Â We chit chatted for a bit while our food was being prepared. Â There was an obnoxiously loud college interview going on at the table next to us but sometimes you can't help that. Â It was a great way to coach my Sophmore son on the do's and don'ts of interviews.
Once our food arrived, we dug into the Pig Hunt. Â The shredded pork had great flavor and hey, bacon makes all things good. Â They did a nice job with the crust as well. Â It was well cooked with some nice crispy spots on it. Â When it comes to pizza, I'm old school - fold the slice down the middle and never use a fork & knife. Â It did tend to break towards the end but that's because it was so full of ingredients.
A great little place and with people who have respect and passion for the food. Â Two thumbs up on this review.
Wow, what a treat for dinner! Â A very creative chef has put together great combos of flavor. Â We started with the sweet potato pancake app and special salad. Â Loved them! Â Followed by ribs in homemade BBQ sauce and scallops on fried ravioli. Â The kids split a very tasty pizza. Â If you like a relaxing neighborhood feel and original food creations, you will love The Box Office. Â I can't wait to go back and try something else.
Review Source:I LOVE this place and so do tons of people in Chatham. I live here yearround and its definitely a local hang out, especially in the off-season. The sandwiches are named after famous movies. My favorite is "Soylent Green" and it's made of eggplant, not people! Haha! (You had to have seen the movie). 1/3 of their business comes from their GLUTEN FREE menu. One of the owners is a Celiac. The atmosphere is great, very small and quaint. I go once a week.
Review Source:I discovered this place almost 2 years ago and I've loved it ever since. I've ordered probably 75% of their menu. Some of my favorite's are their soylent green, point break and club dread sandwiches, Hawaii Five-O & Reign of Fire (with grilled chicken instead of tenders;) and I love the Magic Hour Granola! Like restaurant....they've had their good days & some tougher one's. And those tougher one's have been renovations, staffing changed and the tourist season. But I've never found the management to be anything but upbeat & willing to please. I've been so happy with the food and service I've received from the Box Office Cafe, that I used them to come in and cater my rehearsal dinner for 50 when I recently got married and they delivered the food on time and everyone LOVED it. So some day's in the busy season I had to wait 5 minutes longer for my sandwich, or the counter person seemed stressed out or they forgot to take the onions off my sandwich. I'm an adult, I can do it myself....no biggie. Â But out of the numerous orders i've made over the past few years, I would say an error has occurred twice. And the service & tasty food has far out-shined those 2 times. Which is why I will always go back and sing their praises.
Also, since I'm an adult....I choose to conduct myself in that way when doing these reviews as apposed to the immature & rude nature I saw conveyed in a previous review making fun of the physical appearance of an employee. That criticism completely invalidates that review and as a fellow YELPER, Â I'm insulted. If you're so hung up on appearances, how can I be sure your giving an unbiased & accurate view of your experience that day? You already lost before you started. You can give a positive or negative review and still be constructive and respectful. If you can't then you're missing what Yelp is all about.
While celebrating my 10 year anniversary with my wife I stumbled into this awesome coffe shop.  The atmosphere was so cool with a 60" plasma and, a full bar, and pizza and movie rentals, and a six million dollar man action figure in a case that brought back so many childhood memmories.  I had an amazing coconut rum iced coffe and the best carrot cake in the world ( which I hound out later was made by the owner from scratch).  It was so moist and had the perfect ratio of icing and raisins.  I was in a  rush but I'm going back tomorrow for pizza and chocolate cake.  Its a definite must for anyone visiting the area.
Review Source:This place is good. In my mind I'd rate its neighbor and competitor Corner Store slightly better - but Box Office Cafe is a close 2nd in terms of my favorite sandwiches in the area. The sandwiches and pizza are both real good. The staffi s young and friendly but the service is a bit slower - I waited about 10 minutes for two sandwiches. It is a funky little place with coffee, movies, and above-mentioned food. Highly recommended!
Review Source:Ordering for multiple peeps, I set myself up to be efficient as possible, prepping the cashier that I was ordering for 4 and also not mentioning her squiggly chin whiskers. I started off with the sandwiches, 3 bacon egg chee on everything bagels and 1 bacon egg chee on a wheat English for my Ana. girlfriend... No issue yet but unfortunately I'm not done ordering the coffee... Remember, I'm procuring breakfast for 4... So without pause from ordering the sangos I go, 2 black iced coffees, another with with skim and 2 splendas... Eeeerrrrp, record skip, oh sorry, yes, I was informed I can put that crap in my coffee myself (as a black coffee drinker this really grinds my gears).
$26 and change... But after I reminded 'Whiskers' that she prematurely cut off my order she cheerfully added 2 more coffees to my tab (wait, did I just pay for 4 or 5?... Whatever). Doesn't sound that bad huh? Well, here is my list of complaints:
- Bagels were soggy
- Bagels were not cut in half
- I think the eggs were microwaved
- iced coffee was weak @$$ sh!t but the real issue was the missing ice. What is this, Europe or something?
- French vanilla squirt flavoring was nasty (duh, is what I said to my girlfriend)
My beef is that I was a return customer because this place used to have character and charm. Now they've renovated and expanded, focusing on pizza and securing a full liquor license. This is no longer your cute neighborhood coffee joint and what struck me as really odd was the adult video section in the back.
So I had high hopes for this place. There was a whole vegan section to the menu-- pizza (whole only, not by the slice), sandwiches and wraps (no desserts).
We stopped on our way to Ptown and got the vegan version of the attack of the killer tomatoes (all the items are named after movies-- very cutesy). It was bland-- the tomato sauce had no flavor, the crust tasted like a frozen pizza crust, and they used too much cheese. So it was fine in a pinch, but if you have access to a frozen Amy's vegan pizza, you might as well have that.
I will not be back.
Myself and three others had bagel sandwiches here before hitting the beach and everything was great, good iced coffee too. Â Enjoyed the decor and can't wait to go back for pizza and beer when the bar is finished!
One bad thing - the tables were all dirty and we had to wipe them off ourselves - the staff could be more attentive to that I guess, but I am pretty easy going and it
wouldn't stop me from going back.
Epic coffee shop fail.
What kind of a coffee shop not only doesn't..this is a DOES NOT...have internet service? Not just, "Oh our wi-fi is down." NO. PHLUCKING. INTERWEBS. And on top of their technological shortcomings, they absolutely, flat out, BAN laptops. No laptops allowed? Seriously?
There is no visible menu board that I could see and so we didn't know until after we ordered our mediocre muffins that they offer breakfast sandwiches but you have to know the secret Chatham handshake if you want to order them. This place ranks among a growing number of Chatham businesses that seem to think that with sub-par service and little to no planning and thought that anyone other than your neighbors will show up.
It pains me to say this, but I would sooner go to Dunkin Donuts.
This might be the worst restaurant in Chatham. It claims it's a pizza place but when my family went in to sit down for dinner at 5:00 and we were the only ones in there they told us it was going to be at least an hour. Why? Because they got a big order right before and they have "small ovens". They can't even handle one family with one large pizza order at one time? Secondly they claim to serve breakfast. We have been going daily strictly out of convenience and we are there by 730am and one day they were out of English muffins, the next it was plain bagels, today they gave away our food to another family! Really!! This place stinks. Save your money
Review Source:Great beer but service is awful! Â I asked for two slices of pepperoni pizza but was told no due to the fact they had several pizzas sitting out. Â Great answer right? Â Also how do you not have pepperoni pizza at lunch? Â Lastly when told of the no, it was very apathetic and could care less with no solutions.
Review Source:Interesting. It's sort of half-DVD shop and half pizza/sandwich/bar. The selection of sandwiches and pizzas was all named after movies, much like one would expect.
The pizza we had was alright. It was reasonably priced, but not incredibly tasty. They have a whole vegan menu that we didn't even touch.
They're in the process of constructing a bar inside the restaurant. Â To make it even more confused on whether it's a dvd shop/pizzeria/bar.
The Box Office Cafe offers some very good food. Â However, they need a little help! Â The 'Great Lebowski' eggplant pizza is one of the best ever...but, as with most of their pizzas, it is dry! Â If you ask for extra sauce, they put blobs of sauce on top of the cheese! Â It looks like an afterthought and is further dried out. Â Their Caesar Salad for $5.95 is large, which is great, but they give you a tablespoon or so of dressing! Â Again...dry! Â Could they spare a little more dressing for their loyal customers?
It's frustrating because there is great potential there and it's close to home. Â I hope they can rectify these issues because I do like the cafe!
On our most recent Cape trip, we stayed across the street from Box Office Cafe. Â Needless to say, I was here everyday, if not twice a day. Â The food is to die for. Â I only got breakfast items, but the bagels are fresh, the cream cheese is delicious and the breakfast sandwiches are innovative. Â My favorite is the Ed Wood (turkey, veggie cream cheese, egg, tomato on a bagel). Â This thing is huge and very flavorful. Â My fiance was a big fan of the Sam Peckinpah (egg with pulled pork). The muffins also looked delicious, and they serve pizza, wine and beer at night!
So why only 4 stars? Â The service is pretty awful. Â The people at the counter are nice enough, but even if we were the only people in the cafe, it took at least 15 minutes to get our breakfast sandwiches, even if we only ordered a bagel with cream cheese. Â And the coffee is serviceable at best.
This place has some creative names for their sandwiches. Â Of the five of us that ate there, my meal was the most lack-luster, so I gave it an extra star than I normally would (I had the Point Break btw, turkey club with avocado). Â Prices are a bit on the high side, but its Chatham. Â
The place has a movie theme like some other reviews mentioned, with a movie playing on the flatscreen in the seating area (which isnt really conducive for groups of larger than 4 to sit together), and an attached video rental store. Â They have a couple outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas. Â Dont bring your laptop, as there are signs everywhere telling you "no laptop usage.. blah.. blah...blah)
So glad we found this place! Luck had it that they make vegan pizza, when the vegan cheese is available. They also have other vegan options in the form of sandwiches. We ordered a large pizza with vegan cheese, veggie "chicken" tenders, onions and peppers. Some of the best pizza I've had! If you're a vegan visiting the Cape, this is a good place to stop.
Review Source:Excellent coffee selection! The muffins are baked there in the morning and are scrumptious (especially the blueberry!) Breakfast sandwiches and wraps are available and they even have gluten free bagels.
They have movie themed sandwiches that are also very tasty with plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options. Pizza is NY style so not enough crust and a little chewy for my taste, but the toppings definitely make up for it!
This place serves all day but I tend to make it my coffee and breakfast place when i'm down there.
I was so impressed to find so many vegan options at this little place! Â I lived on the Cape until I was 30, and went vegan a few months before I moved away, and it was so hard to find places where food was deliberately vegan. Â I'm so glad to know that this exists, and is yummy, too!
Review Source:A great place for vegetarians and vegans!
We waited an hour for pizza and sandwiches and the place was empty! So the other reviewer was right, don't go there if you are super hungry or pinched for time. If you value vegan and vegetarian food, this is definitely an exciting place to be. Being a veghead on the Cape totally sucks. Our options are very limited, so you can imagine my delight walking into a place where I had more than two choices! There were many interesting possibilities- the pizza was great, people were very nice and friendly and it was obvious the owners are real movie buffs, not the typical theme restaurant posers. So thank-you to the owners for providing us Cape Codders with good vegan food and I want to give you more stars, but the time it took for pizza and sandwiches on a slow day with three people in the kitchen was just unacceptable. Also, beware the prices. Lunch for four (myself, my husband and two kids) came to $75!
Amazing little pizza place in South Chatham! Their menu is very diverise consisting of sandwiches, pizzas, and breakfast sandwiches. All of their menu items are named after movies. My favorite pizzas are Beetlejuice, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Bananas. Seriously go try this pizza.
Review Source:Badass little coffee shop, bakery, pizza, sandwich, breakfast sandwich place. Â They have by far the BEST GLUTEN FREE pizza around. Â My lil sis can't have Gluten and they make some delicious gluten free pizza. Â They virtually have any and every kind of pizza you can think of. Â Don't believe me? Â Check them out, don't miss out. Â They have some really interesting names for their sandwiches and pizzas (all from movies). Â Really fun! Â Lights, Camera, EAT!
Review Source:Well, I haven't actually been to the actual location yet, BUT, I was at a birthday party where they served pizzas from the Box Office Cafe, and they were the best pizzas I've had on the cape yet. Â A great veggie combo, a really tasty shrimp pizza, and my friend liked one that apparently had blueberries under the cheese... I went back for a third serving, and found every single box was already empty, so I guess the other guests agreed it was good pizza! Â I will definitely check them out "in person."
Review Source:I LOVE this place! Generally I think the idea of themed restaurants is cheesy and overplayed, HOWEVER, this place is my one exception. Everything on their menu is named after a movie or director. Great selection of coffee drinks-- I ordered a 'Vanilla Sky' a suped-up vanilla iced latte with some kick ass espresso!
