Dear Brazen Hen,
If it was possible to give no stars I would have gladly done that. Â This place is absolutely terrible. Â I was excited to hear an Irish pub was coming to town but and they hold true to the Irish roots, in the fact that the food sucks. Â Nothing was fresh, everything seemed to be frozen or prepared by the local supermarkets freezer. Â We ordered 2 burgers and one salmon burger. Â One of the burgers was cooked terribly incorrect, The other was gray, with what looked like came from the microwave, and the salmon was canned that I wouldn't have fed to my cat. Â I would have rather paid the $120 to have a knife stuck in my eye.
Overall, we were not impressed with the menu - it's rather limited and eclectic - and a bit odd. I had the cashew crusted chicken with mango and jasmine rice - it was okay, but not great; my sister had the pulled pork/beans dish - very bland and disappointing. For dessert, we had cheesecake that was dry and crumbly, and again disappointing.
On the whole, service was good. However, we had to wait over an hour for our meals to be served. Our waitress apologized and said they were still working out the kinks since they had only been in business for a couple of weeks.
The noise level in the restaurant was awful, and took away from the dining experience. Prices were average. This place seems to be more of a bar & pub - a place to hang out and drink. For a quality dining experience, I will go to another restaurant.
My daughter and I decided to take in a late dinner so we stopped by around 9pm. Â We were greeted at the door and she was asked for her ID (she is 22) Â She didn't have it with her. Â I told him that she was my daughter... he said no ID she can't enter. Â I am a Westerly Resident... guess what... I think I will have to pass on dinner and drinks at this establishment and take my business elsewhere.
Review Source:We were less than impressed. Â The menu is odd- they bill themselves as an Irish Pub & Restaurant, but the menu is a strange Irish/Asian/whatever-mood-the-chef-is-in fusion that doesn't really work. Â It's terribly confused & sadly, none of it is fantastic. Â
The atmosphere & drinks are fantastic- if that's what you're after, you're in luck. Â If you want food, head to one of the other downtown Westerly establishments. Â (Though fair warning, for an Irish pub, the beer list is painfully small.)
We tried an assortment of foods- losers: Irish Cheddar Ale soup, which is not only a painfully small portion but also more like a cheese sauce than a soup- it's been so overly reduced & thickened. Â Also, the Irish Crisps with garlic sauce & blue cheese. Â I'm not a big salt eater but even I was complaining abut the lack of seasoning. Â Also, it was a bowl full of chips with sauce on about 6 crisps leaving mostly plain, dull, unseasoned chips. Â It would be better if the sauce were on the side as a dip perhaps because these were, by & large tasteless. Â
The winner was one of the night's random Asian specials which I won't bug you with since it's not a regular menu item. Â The rest was just mediocre. Â
We'll go back for drinks, but the menu will have to improve before I eat there again.
