Excellent beer, unbelievable burgers, great scenery!  This was one of the top brew-pubs I've experienced.  Definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves beer and pub food.

Update: my last two visits have been good. The noise factor has been ameliorated to a large degree, and the food was improved.  Good news!

Like beer? Come here. My favorite is definitely the cherry ale but there's a lot to choose from. If you can't decide they also offer a sampler which I've done a time or two.
Oh yeah.. they serve food too! Wide variety of appetizers, options for lunch and dinner.. I definitely recommend it.

I really try to avoid going here when possible.  The food is ok but over priced.  The place is super loud.  If you are sitting up in the front it is so hard to talk to anyone else at your table because of all the noise.

Great place for a beer and food before or after Bear's practice.

A group of us stopped in before attending Bears' training camp. It was a Sunday afternoon and there wasn't a whole lot of people here. That could have been because the camp had already started practices though.

Their beers were so so. There wasn't anything that really stood out for me. I don't think any of them were bad, just not amazing or memorable.

The food was good. I was a bit hungover so I limited myself to some chicken tenders.

The server was good. She got us everything we needed and was awesome about getting me water refills.

They have a nice patio area and on a gorgeous day is a must to enjoy food and beers.

We love to take a ride out to the Brick Stone on our bikes.

The food is decent, but there are just too many choices. Service is and fast and friendly. Although, the restaurant is very loud. We like to sit on what you might call an enclosed patio, but the very large windows open up and you are able to enjoy the weather, when it is warm out, that is.

We will definitely go back. Drinks are a winner as well.

The one peeve I've always had with Brickstone was how it was always near impossible to hold a conversation over a meal. I must say that my Sunday experience was much improved. They actually expanded the restaurant and there's a huge dining room attached to the bar area. Since the bar area is no longer "crowded" the acoustics in the front are MUCH better and nowhere near as deafening. Since it was Bloody Mary bar on Sunday, some peeps next to us were getting buck wild, but we were still able to talk and hear each other. I love it!

The food is as good as it's always been. Their baked potato soup will damage you for all other soups out there. I have tons of friends and family members that are equally obsessed. I frequently come here for an order of the soup for take out. Huge bonus, they'll give you a whole loaf of bread to go with your soup. My favorite apps (in no particular order) are the buffalo shrimp, thai lettuce wraps and the buffalo chicken wraps.

I've ordered a bunch of different entrees and they are all really delicious. This last time I had the brew pub sandwich. Fricking scrumptious! It was roast beef with liquidy cheddar cheese & sauteed mushrooms and onions on a pretzel bun. Sounds simple enough but the flavors and textures mixed very well together.

A huge plus too is they now have a veggie friendly menu. I was vegetarian for about a year and could never dine at Brickstone since 95% of their menu was only catered to meat lovers. I think there's only 3-4 options, but hey! It's a good start.

Side note, 12/31/11 I went to their New Years Eve Party and it was one of the greatest times I've had in my life. The bartenders were so friendly and they even had a complimentary shuttle home. I went back the next morning and got my car and wished I could do it all over again. I got my "popping bottles" Yelp nickname from that party because I somehow ended up with two bottles of champagne that I carried around. Not sure why or how--it's all a big blur. I'm considering buying tickets again! $65 a person and it's worth every penny!

Great food in this area. Get the southwest chicken; it's off the chain! Beers good too. I like the wheat one

The service was great, super fast, and always kept the drinks filled. Husband had their version of Lite Beer, it was good. Food Was ok. Hamburger was over cooked though, and Pecan Chicken was good, but didn't have tons of flavor, or wasn't very crunchy. Bread they serve is very fresh and good. Great place to hang out after watching Da Bears at Training camp, bonus, Jay Cutler and some Bears players walked in while we were getting ready to leave!

My guess would be that this is the best restaurant in the town of Bourbonnais, but I have not tried them all. Great beers and delicious food for appetizers and sandwiches. The service was great while we were here, and it was extremely crowded due to training camp. The restaurant was noisy and bustling, but the staff was still quite attentive. If you are in town for camp or any other reason, give this place a try.

Its loud, not sure why the dynamics of the place make it this way.  My beer was excellent and hubby liked his too.  We had the Thai Chicken Nachos and decided to head out after 3 beers and nachos.  They were just ok.  Not bad, not great but not drawing enough to earn our dinner meals.  The meat on the nachos was really strange in texture.  I think dark thigh meat.

The menu is tooooooo big.  Robert Irvine would have a hay day here.  I dont know how they can "specialize" in anything as the menu is ALL over the place.  The wonton nachos came out no more than 5 min after we ordered them.  Ridiculous fast!

Go for the beer, have an appetizer, call Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible.  Maybe they can assist them with the menu!  If you stay for dinner, you arent listening.  ;)

Fried green tomato appetizer was good. But man, they know how to screw up a salad. Te mediterranean salad was the butt end of the white part of iceberg lettuce, black olives from a can, not kalamata olives like the menu stated, huge hunks of red onion, and about a teaspoon of dressing. Blah. This is a brewpub, go for the beer, i suppose, but the food was not worth the time it took to eat it.  The place was packed, since there arent many choices in the area. And it was FREEZING inside.

Brick Stone Brewery definitely deserves a 4 1/2, but sadly I had to choose between 4 or 5.

I went with my family here on a Saturday night and boy, oh boy was Yelp and other users on here correct - it is LOUD! So loud you cannot hear the person sitting next to you if their head is turned away and they're almost shouting. Definitely not a place I would get a large group together at again nor a place I would take a date except maybe for lunch

However, the food was awesome! Per reviewers opinion, we stayed away from the French Onion soup, but the potatoe was to DIE for! Not something I typically enjoy, but this I could eat all day. The warm bread with it was delicious! I'd go back just for a meal of their soup and bread. Their Wheat Beer is incredible, and again, I'm not a beer drinker (I hate it, actually) so you can take that for what it's worth since I'm sure there are those out there who are far more experienced when it comes to beer. The Smokehouse Club was delicious. The veggies were fresh, mayo had a little tartness to it that was perfect and the bread just made the sandwich. Their fries are likely some of the best fries I've ever had. Service was pretty good, although left us hanging a little. I can let that slide as it WAS Saturday night!

A few things bothered me and hold me back from rating higher. I asked if I could have a side salad instead of fries. It would cost an additional $1.99 to add it, which I think is a little on the ridiculous side, but I'm glad I opted to go with the fries. The portions on the sides were rather small compared to a lot of other restaraunts and I wish they had given me more. The butter on the bread, I felt, had no taste whatsoever. For me, these are minor complaints and I will definitely make the 45 minute drive back!

    Pros:
    Great food (Everything tastes fresh)
Awesome Wheat Beer (From someone who doesn't drink beer)
Chairs move out very easily (I feel little touches like that sometimes make the place!)
    Fairly prompt service

    Cons:
A little pricey for a few different items, not terrible as a whole
    Mediocre sized portions

I was here because I heard it was a decent place to eat down in Bourbonnais. I see this as more of a bar/grille type of place. The food is alright. I would come back.

Beer was good. But left wanting more from the entree. We asked for a medium rare steak and got well done and pork was dry. It was not very comfortable to eat. However, the veggies were well prepared as well as the amazing mashed potatoes. Service was attentive and polite, helpful when choosing beers. Will have to come again for a follow up.

I'm reviewing this place again but unfortunately had a bad experience. I placed an order for a salad and hot wings. After getting home, starving, I realized that I should have checked the order prior to leaving the parking lot. Somehow my order for buffalo wings (20 pcs.) was mistaken for a ten pc. breaded boneless type, BBQ and some parmesan thing! How did this mistake happen? I seriously have no idea but it most certainly did. My less than stellar experiences with this restaurant are now outnumbering my good ones, which is unfortunate because I think this place has potential. After calling back, they are currently remaking my order, which I have to have someone else pick up. They also added next to no dressing on the salad so I called back and asked them to add that too. Hopefully I can get my dinner right this time.

Drove over an hour to get there, sit down and order the Brewmasters  special, which she informs me is only available on Thursday.  My wife asks about the seasonal, which she informs us they are out of.  We then decide on two different beers.  She leaves and comes back two minutes later, and tells us all the taps are down for cleaning, would we like a Miller light in a bottle, I ask do you have anything else in a bottle, she says yes, Bud light.  The whole reason we drove that far was to try their Microbrews.  What kind of a place cleans their lines during working hours.  We left, and can guarantee will never come back!!!

Taking the time to write a review due to outstanding service.
Specifically, yelp said the place is loud (which it is, very), so I booked a reservation for a large party in the dining room.   They were a little behind and offered our party to sit in the bar, to be seated faster, which they did.  Unfortunately, it was unbearably loud; so I approached the manager/front desk and explained our situation, and they brought us apps and drinks that we ordered, and allowed us to occupy our table in the bar until a table was free in the dining room...no down time.
This was extremely accomodating, and everyone involved acted like it was no big deal at all.

As everyone says, it's solid, bar food.  Nothing ground breaking, but it's head and shoulders above TGIfridays which is essentially it's only competition.  It is extremely busy, which is testament do just doing something solid and consistenly is a good business model.   My brother got the filet which had fresh mashed potatoes, pretty serious.  Beers - hefe: watery.  Cherry whatever: tasted like beer and grenadine, the net effect is more like a beer cocktail, not really a beer. stout: solid.

To the management: props to your staff for the aforementioned service, and what you're doing, it's obviously working out well for you.  It's a feat to run that many tables at once.  Acoustics: I don't know if the sheets hanging from the ceiling are there for light, but they don't do anything for acoustics, if that is your intention.  If you'd like to send me a message, I'd be happy to have a quick phone call and offer some solutions.

New customers: warning, it can be very loud and is very popular.

Really one of my favorite restaurants in the area. A very large variety of food and drinks! It's a great place for a group of people as well. The only issue I have ever had is you have to be careful of the times you go if you're looking just to sit down and eat, especially if your kids are with you. The bar is large and open and it gets LOUD in there and the voices carry very well in there. Great food though!

One of the best family owned restaurants in town.  The food is great, the service is great, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.  I should point out that I am a regular, and east and drink here weekly, so I'm a little biased.  Try the bloody mary bar on Sundays!  It will compliment the football on TV very well!

I was very excited to come here given all of the positive reviews, but I was greatly disappointed.  This was also the first time in a long while I did not leave a tip.

To start, we were told there would be a 30 minute wait.  It ended up being 45 minutes even though there were plenty of open empty tables.  Additionally, the seating for the waiting area is grossly inadequate.

When we sat down, we told the waitress that our group would be split into two checks.  She then started taking our order.  When the other group ordered an appetizer, she immediately ran away from our table to put the appetizer order in and did not come back for a while.  When she did get back, our group also ordered an appetizer...but it ended up coming much later than the first one because of that stunt she pulled.

The southwest rolls were disappointing and lacked flavor.  The spinach artichoke dip was decent, but only came with three small pieces of bread for dipping.  The onion rings were nothing special nor were the deep fried mushrooms.  The cherry ale was ok.

The baked French onion soup was a disappointment...615 Club in Beloit still is the world champion in my opinion.  However, the cheesy bacon
Potato soup was very good...probably the best thing on the menu.  The prime rib failed to meet my expectations.  Additionally, the menu mentions you get to pick a side with the prime rib, but the waitress failed to ask me my choice and I forgot to tell her before it was too late.  She also screwed up the splitting of the checks.

I've had worse, but in the end I will not be back.  The prices are too high and the quality is lacking even though the decor is very nice.  On other thing worth mentioning is that the entire place is way too loud to have a conversation with the other members in your party.

The Cherry Ale here is wonderful...but some of the other house beers were a little disappointing.  They tasted a bit like watered down versions of Miller and Guinness.
The food was good, on time, and priced right.  They have a nice outdoor patio section, too, for when the weather is nice.
I would go back for sure but for the food more than the drinks.

Great Place for a meal and/or drink.

Try the pretzel stick appetizers, they are great! Served w/ cheese and honey mustard dipping sauce which are both very good. First time I went I had the prime rib which was perfect. Next time I tried the lemon grilled shrimp. The lemon seasoning was quite salty and overdone but not to bad- just something I won't order again. The family raved about the black and blue steak- steak w/ blue cheese and portabella mushroom. Have only tried the cherry ale was very good brew.

We had dinner in the bar section the one night and it since it WAS the bar section (which is to be expected) it was quiet loud and if you're looking to have conversation with your meal take the time and wait for a table in the dining room.

My wife and I had a great experience here today.  We could not have asked for better service in our waitress, Jessica, who was attentive and friendly.  Between us we tried the Blood Orange Hefe and the Cherry Ale and both did not disappoint.  The prime rib I ordered came as requested and was delicious.  The same holds true for the "Greek style" pork chops my wife had.

The only detractor was that I felt the cleanliness of the booth and the men's room could have been a little better.  Otherwise this would be a five star review.  I recommend trying the place out if you are in the area.

For the area it's in, Brickstone is above average.

Unfortunately I didn't get to try any of their beers, but a number of them sounded pretty good. I did, however, get to try a few menu items, and they were hit or miss. The french onion soup was delicious, and the group I was with all loved their clam chowder. The brew pub pretzel sandwich was enjoyable, though I'm oddly obsessed with pretzel rolls and merkt's cheese spread, so it would be tough to screw up. The chicken ciabatta sounded great on paper, but turned out to be pretty bland. The reuben was standard. Overall, I'm sure the food would have been better with a few beers, assuming their beer is actually good. I don't plan on going back to Bourbonnais any time soon (or ever again if I'm lucky...), but if I do, I'd give Brick Stone another try.

Definitely a Diamond in the Rough!!

There wasn't much going on for food in this area for me, and a colleague recommended this place, and yep - quite good!

I had seared Ahi once, and parmesan crusted Tilapia a second time - both done perfectly.

The service was great once, and just OK the second time, but the food seemed top notch.

Brickstone is kind of a mixed bag. A lot of style but little substance. Although it is independently owned, it mirrors a lot of franchise type microbreweries such as Rock Bottom. The inside is very tastefully done with a bar area, a dining area, an outside patio area and a private party room in the back.

Came here on a Tuesday night and place was fairly active and noisy. We choose to sit outside as it was a beautiful early summer evening on the prairie.   We ordered drinks and appetizers first.  I ordered the Forbidden Promise IPA and my companions ordered a Mango Martini and a Pomegrant Martini.  The martini's were pronounced pretty standard although the Pomegrant Martini is loaded with anti-oxidants to retard any aging effects the alcohol in the Martini may have.  I didn't care for the Forbidden Promise IPA, just didn't appeal to me. too flat and hoppy for me.

For appetizers we had spinach ragoons and lettuce wraps.  Now the lettuce wraps were great, cooked chopped chicken nuggets with lettuce, shredded carrots, chow mein noodles, and green pepper served with a tai peanut sauce, sweet red pepper sauce and a sesame ginger sauce.  I could have made a meal of it in itself.  I didn't think the spinach ragoons were anything special but my two companions claimed to have liked it.  It was kind of like a spinach-cheese pot sticker served with a custard sauce.  Couldn't help but notice that there were still two left when the main meal came.

I had the Buffalo Blues salad which was ok.  Salad was nice and fresh and there were generous amounts of bleu cheese and dressing.  But the buffalo chicken strips were kind of dry and tough.  One of my companions had the Atlantic Salmon and she thought it was somewhat tasteless, the other companion who ordered the Pecan Crusted Chicken likewise thought the meal was tasteless, and while she loves sweet potatoes, she thought the sweet potato side was awful.

Meal was saved with dessert, the Chocolate Sensation cake was almost unbeleivably rich and delicious.  Well worth the price.  The meal for three people wa about $95.00 plus tip.

In summary, the place is nice to look at and has a lot of style.  But the food appears to be just for show, not eating.

Unique place in kind of a bland town. Place is always buzzing with business and energy. Diverse menu has something for everyone and it's all edible. Try those buffalo chicken rolls! Service usually stands out with high marks for speed and attentiveness. Attached microbrewery produces flavored beers which are usually poor man's versions of whatever ale or lager they're based on, but they have a decent selection of imports, however they lack Hacker-Pschorr! Substitutes Hoegaarden and Blue Moon always available. The place is a bit pricey as it has no real competition in the area outside of the boring Applebee's and Friday's chains. Great atmosphere and well thought out decor. Restaurant becomes a decent bar after 10pm as well.

Excellent Food, Good beer, nice atmosphere. We enjoy our time spent at this place. Think of a small town "Rock Bottom" style. Waitstaff is friendly and the place is always clean.
