Love the ambiance, reminds you of pubs in the 1800's. Excellent beer selection that deserves 5 stars, haven't tried the food sop can't comment on that. Love the hilarious quotes on the ceilings.

I enjoyed my meal here. The menu is HUGE so there is something for everyone. Some of the food seems to be a bit heavy, but overall the flavor is generally there. Although I got a veggie burger and had to add a lot of hot sauce to it since it was a little bland. BUT MY MASHED POTATOES WERE DELICIOUS! The service was also pretty attentive, and despite it being new, they seem to run a pretty tight ship. Also thought the beer selection was pretty decent! I'd definitely go again if I lived in the area.

First time here.  Local folks who frequent Portsmouth establishments.  Rainy , Monday night so Portsmouth and the BBC were kind of quiet, but inside was loud even though it wasn't super busy.  Really hard to talk to one another without shouting. Good beer selection, some different brews to try.  Hostess was OK, not overly friendly.  Waitress was friendly. The other person in our party had been before and knew they offered beer samples, so we sampled a few and then made our selection.  Two of us ordered sandwiches off the lunch specials menu, which we were told were available even though it was dinner time.  Came with fries, but the waitress asked if we wanted sweet potato fries, onion rings or something else instead of the fries and one of us opted for sweet potato and I got onion rings. To my surprise there was a $3.99 charge on the final bill, labeled onion rings.  I asked and she explained that that was a substitution with some explanation that really didn't make a whole lot of sense to us.  She offered to try and take it off, I said no, but told her that she didn't make it clear that we would be charged for substituting the fries.  Onion rings by the way were lousy, and not many on the plate, disappointed.  Our sandwiches were good, but nothing great, not worth running right back. I'd try again and compare but as a local will continue to go to the Portsmouth Brewery for the best locally produced beer and better atmosphere.

Alright!!!! So this was my first real daddy daughter day! We were greeted by extremely friendly staff to include Haley!!! She was awesome! The food came out quick and the beer was great! I had the pesto Mahi and it was perfectly cooked! The mixed veggies were a bit plane but everything else made up for that!!! Haley even warmed up my daughters food in the back and brought us a special plate! Over all great food, great beer, quick, great service, and great atmosphere!!!!

Stopped in with clients, was pleasantly surprised at the gorgeous interior.  The staff was attentive and very friendly.  I tried the Portsmouth lemonade, which was made with fresh blueberries .... perfect on a hot day.  I ordered the Wensleydale Chicken & Pear Salad which I highly recommend.  My husband ordered a crock of chili and said it was very tasty!  Had the hot fudge brownie sundae for dessert, had to share because it was huge!

I hate doing this....I really do. I wanted to love this place because I've been to the other one and it was super great. And, in all fairness, I know they are working out the kinks being open only a week and a half. BUT...maybe if they change a few things, other patrons won't have the same issue. So, here are the positives...of course, amazing beer selection. Blueberry beer is fantastic, but you have to ask for fresh blueberries (my gut feeling is they aren't really "fresh" but it was fine) and they had maybe 2 in there....but the beer was tasty..especially on a 90 degree day. Hostess was sweet. Our waiter was super friendly & accommodating...took time to talk to us about some issues we had with the food & was honestly a great kid. The atmosphere is fabulous...would definitely go after work (if I worked anywhere near there) for drinks.

Well, now here goes the down side...the food. We tried the buffalo chicken dip and here's a few things for the management to note: A...it should be hot. B. There should not be 3 small bite size pieces of fried chicken in the dip. .C. The cheese should not be in a blob in one corner of the dish with scattered pieces of blue cheese in with the 3 pieces of chicken (yes we counted them lol) and D. (and this was my BIGGEST pet peeve) PLEASE do not have your kitchen staff tell the servers the chips were JUST rolled, pressed, and fried fresh there within the last hour. Ok, first...I've waitressed and bartended...in places that HAVE made their own chips. So, first...if an establishment makes their own chips..they are not all  uniform in size..they can't be. Second...you salt them..because it helps hold freshness and of course..they TASTE of some kind of oil...not stale. I almost spit out my beer when this poor kid came back to our table to tell me the kitchen told him they had just made them...don't try to make a fool out of your customers there kitchen staff. I talked to our waiter later and told him he should probably speak to his manager. NEVER did we ask to have it taken off our bill (because after all, I ate all 5 small celery sticks and some of the dip)  but I DIDNT expect a BS kitchen explanation to come back to our table either. My hubby had the fish tacos...over cooked fried fish stuck in a taco. That's it. I had some kind of specialty salad with 3 strips of grilled chicken and a helluva lot of lettuce. Good dressing....presentation was nice. So, here's my final take...if you go there for drinks after work, or just to chill out, it's a great atmosphere with a fantastic staff...If you want a great meal, I would recommend waiting until they work out all their "issues" and go to Portsmouth Brewing Company instead.

YOU have got to be kidding me with the poor reviews!!!  This is the BEST restaurant/pub in the seacoast!  The Pizza is to die for! even better than Gaslight,  25 beers on tap, I was so happy to see British Beer Company opened in Portsmouth.  My wife and I visit their Hyannis location any time at the Cape.  You have got to try this place.

I'm afraid we are becoming addicted to this place.  The Meat loaf is UNREAL. (Better than your mothers...)

The manager is doing a wonderful job making guests feel welcome, and keeping the service excellent.  (No we are not employees!)

I called ahead to see if took reservations - they said no, but they have call ahead seating. So the hostess took my name down and told me to call an hour before we would show up. So one hour before we were all scheduled to meet, I called and they took down my name again. Once I showed up, they told me they didn't have my name and that I would have to wait another hour to be seated. Thought I would give the new place a try but was turned off by their lack of organization and crowd management. Instead we decided to hit up the reliable and local British pub, Coat of Arms and we were not disappointed.

3 stars since the fish & chips were very, very good. The burger (just ok) & Korean pork naan (not ok). And why is there a Korean dish on the menu here??? Very nice interior, pleasant service.

Quite packed for a Saturday evening. Wanted a booth but was led quickly towards a large dining area with a super small table. Oh well. Massive 25+ beer selection more than made up for any percieved logistical blundering. Very tasty scotch eggs and a delicious steak and ale pie - which came with perfectly seasoned mashed potatoes and a medley of carrots and summer squash/zucchini. Well designed interior.
