If you've got an hour to throw away then this is a Must go for you.  If you're hungry expect to wait a while even for bloody drinks.  The pizza is fresh, the mozzarella is fresh and good, but its too damn cold in this restaurant and the wait is ridiculous that it almost kills any positive mood you have about the place.

I've been a customer to Brother's for many years. The restaurant recently had an awesome face lift and really helps with the overall feeling of the place. More cozy and more Italian flare.

The food is pretty good, the pizzas aren't anything to write home about but they hit the spot. I normally get their Philly sandwiches (either chicken or steak) which are pretty awesome and big! The wait staff is decent though pretty forgetful and absentminded which can be frustrating. Also, when you check out (either dinning in or picking up) you have to go up to one of two cashiers up front and sort of fight your way up to them because the front is normally very congested with people either waiting to pick up food or pay their check. As you can imagine it's very disorganized and the cashiers are usually short with you.

Besides that it has decent prices, not the best pizza or Italian in general but it's not bad.

I'm not going to comment on how authentic the food is, because I have never travelled to Italy and I'm not pretentious enough to care if a restaurant in Dinwiddie, VA is serving up the purest version of marinara or whatever, but I work nearby and come here when I can't decide what I want or haven't packed my lunch-I can always get a great value with their lunch specials (around $5-6 for a pasta dish/soft drink or sub, fries and soft drink, less for a pizza slice and soft drink and you can add a salad for a couple of bucks more).  I've never tried the pizza because the pizza special they have is dine in only and I would want carry out, but I usually stick with the lasagne lunch special, chicken roll or philly steak sub or a grilled chicken salad, all of which are fine, the lasagne being my go to.

The service sucks.  The servers are all perfectly nice women but do not care for extra requests, are hot and cold about being good about refilling drinks and definitely don't want to hear about a problem with your order.  The blond woman who is often at the register also has a bad attitude, but since it's convenient for me, I ignore the bad service.  Make sure to allow a few minutes to stand in the long line to pay your bill if you're on your lunch break!

Was very impressed!  The food was great and beer was cold. I really enjoyed the steak sandwich and pizza.

I like Brother's because they are close to the house & not a chain restaurant.  I'm pretty sure they are a family owned restaurant because they close for several days over major holidays.  The food is great, the service is slow.  They serve pitchers of beer!!  (Pitchers have been nearly impossibly to find in the Colonial Heights/Petersburg area).  The cheese fries are a delicious appetizer.  The large stromboli will fill you up & feed you for another meal or two in leftovers alone.  I love their marinara sauce, but they don't put enough on for me.  Just ask for a side dish & you'll be happy.  That is what I discovered with their pizza.  It took me two attempts to figure out what was missing, and it was that they don't have enough sauce (and there is A LOT of cheese).  Get some sauce to dip in & you're all set.  No matter what day I've gone I've never had to wait here.  They are also really good if you call ahead & order take out.

Okay if you read my rant on Italian restaurants Down South in my review of another area restaurant, you will know I didn't go into this place with very high expectations. Just like it's tough to find Yankees that make good BBQ, it's equally hard to find Southerners who make good Italian. But although someone from Philly wouldn't be blown away by this place, for the area, it's actually respectable Italian food. Chicken Caesar salad's not great (dressing tastes like some standard Sysco or Ken's, not fresh), but it wasn't bad and did hit the spot at the time. Lasagna was a bit too salty (and I'm a fan of salt), but, on the other hand it didn't commit the most common error of Italian restaurants down South in making it wayyy too sweet.

But the place specializes in pizza, and although not nearly as good as the best pizzas in Philly, it's certainly as good as most, and even better than a lot of pizza places in Philly (especially in West Philly/University City). So if you're in the area and you have a craving for pizza, Brother's is a good bet. Even for just a slice-- while most pizza places down South don't serve slices, Brother's does. Oh and unlike the other Italian restaurant I went to here, this one had Sambuca for me to wash down my meal.

They also have a back room with a bar, big-screen TV and ashtrays that presumably gets used at night during the weekends. Other times they let us conduct union meetings back there, which is really cool of them. Staff is friendly and helpful.

So bottom line-- if you're in the area and you want pizza, Brother's is the way to go.

UPDATE: I've since had the carbonara here. While nothing to knock your socks off, it was completely respectable and I had no complaints. Also, there's a banquet side I didn't mention before.
