Other than diving straight into a review I am going to share a few lines of conversation that I (or anyone in the vicinity) overheard...
Her: What's your name again?
Him: Lou
Her: Blue? Like B-L-U or some s**t?
Him: No it's Lou
Her: Well Blue have you ever been to f**king Spain?
Him: No
Her: Me neither but I want since my f**cking husband kicked me out of the f**king car
Him: It sounds pretty cool
Her: This is a community property sate and I get half of his s**t. That motherf**ker has almost 400 thousand dollars in his 401K
Him: I need to step outside for a smoke
Her: Hey you (Looking at KB) What do you do?
KB: I'm an engineer
Her: So was my brother-in-law. He made a lot of money but lost it all because of the recession. I didn't lose mine because I prayed about it and Jesus told me how to invest. Â Do you ever party on the South Shore?
KB: I am sorry to hear about his losses (pretends to be interested in the basketball game on TV to avoid further conversation)
Action-Lou walks back in
Her: Did I tell you how I lost my tooth?
Him: (unintelligible response)
Her: (somewhat incoherent story involving the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Department and a taser)
Bottom line: I ordered the chicken special. 1/2 of a roasted chicken served with a scoop of some sort of potatoes. Pretty bad. No draft beer - bottles or cans only. Staff is interesting to say the least.
Bottom Bottom Line: Food & Drink - one star, maybe less
Entertainment (somewhat uncomfortable at times) - five stars
Therefore I am calling it two stars.
I really can't recommend this place but I must admit that I enjoyed it.
What a pleasant surprise. We went to Buck's with friends on Saturday night. We all ordered the 10 oz. fillet which comes with garlic potatoes. Wow. The fillets were perfectly cooked and flavorful. The garlic potatoes were also great.
I did not expect much from Buck's but it was really good. Our bill was around $90 for four fillets, a BBQ shrimp appetizer and at least six beers. That seems really reasonable considering how good it was.
This is a very casual place that is a bar full time, but serves steaks on weekends. If your looking for a good steak that is reasonably priced and you don't care that the place is a dive, Buck's is for you.
I don't think kids are allowed since it is a bar so leave them at home.
When they are serving food it becomes non smoking so the only aroma you smell is cooking beef.
