A girl sits down at a bar. The bartender walks up to her and says, "Hi, my name is Ross. I'll be your bartender and here's how I work: I will keep 'em coming until you tell me to stop or you're drunk."
Coolest bartender ever...hands down.
For those who continue to mourn the loss of the beloved Prime Time Sports Bar and Restaurant in the Forest Grove/Cornelius area, never fear! While Prime Time continues to break ground in their new location, you can get your "fix" at Buddies Sports Bar and Grill, the big daddy of Prime Time.
IT's divey deliciousness. Great food, great staff, and great patrons too. If I lived in Aloha, this would be "the" spot that I would hang out at. They have TVs to watch games, but the set up is not ideal but if you go with friends, you probably would not even notice. They do have a restaurant on the other side of the building but it's segregated enough that you don't feel like the young 'uns are watching your every sip. No HH, but prices are right and they do offer daily food and drink specials on the board. If you are looking for your own personal "Cheers", this is the place.
If you were a "Prime Time" Forest Grove fan, these are the same folks. Â The food is above average, I've eaten burgers, ribs, and cajun fries (cajun fries SO GOOD) here-breakfast is also good and they have awesome food specials every night. Â I think what we like best about Buddies is the friendly and attentive waitstaff, and the casual without being too divey atmosphere. Â We have kids, and appreciate a place where we can watch a game, eat "bar style" food, and not feel like we have our kids in a bar. Â We also like that they have NInkasi IPA on tap-that's always a plus :-)
Review Source:Was in here for lunch yesterday. I was looking for a place for lunch and a full bar.. not dive bar search criteria and this place came up.
I at first thought I hadn't been here before and it didn't sound familiar but when we descended up on it, I immediately recognized myself being in here before my Yelp days.
So, we splurged! I had the 2pc cod and chips and DH had the chili burger ( guess who paid for that?) Hint: it wasn't him. My cod was delicious! I had the herb buttered pasta with it and the cole slaw, was pretty sure I was going to hell but- I survived. I ate just about everything on my plate. I posted the food pics on their site.
The bartender was very friendly and was a great jokster. I would definitely go back here. I loved it! What a great place and even though it says divy.. I'm not sure it really is maybe on the bar side.. there is a family side, which I didn't know how about until I read that on here, it's on the left when you go in. Like that there is a kid free area. I feel weird drinking cocktails in front of kids..
I have been going to Buddies for the past 15 years as I live about a mile away from it. Â The food is way better than you would expect from a sports bar. Â The drinks are amazing and you know you will get your moneys worth. Â Taco Tuesdays are our favorite but the food specials are great every night.
Review Source:I expected a lot more based on the other reviews.
The food (we sat in the restaurant as we had kids) was ok, but not great. I had nachos and they were big and all, but just not exciting. My daughter had a burger and she said it was quite good. The wife had something (forget what) and it was decent, but not exceptional.
This has become kind of the default place to go for food late or drinks. It seems to always be fairly crowded but always have enough room for you. The service can get harried when they're busy but they never forget about you. Everything I've had here to eat has been great. It's shocking how much better some of there dishes are compared to the typical bar food versions you get elsewhere. Haven't had a bad time here.
Review Source:The service is tops - Erica is our favorite waitress! Â Vanessa is a close second - Ross is an outstanding bar tender. Â Their atmosphere is fun and the food is above average. Â They run specials every night. Â
I am disappointed they changed the recipe on the Quesadillas - they used to be better about 3 months ago; something changed.... not as tasty now. Â Cobb Salad is excellent!
This is just a fun and above average pub/restaurant. Â People dine out for food but also for fun atmosphere and like to be appreciated as customers. Â This place fulfills all of those criteria. Â Try it!
Not bad for breakfast on the go. Â If we decide to do a major shopping at Albertson's early in the morning, we may stop in here again. Â Nothing special, but I loved the chicken fried steak. Â My omelet was basically overdone eggs, folded over, with some filling that seemed to be thrown in after the egg was cooked. Â Probably just about the worst omelet I've ever had. Â Hence three stars instead of four, which hubby would definitely give if it was up to him. The gravy was good, although not homemade. Â Everything is just okay, and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest it as a second choice. Â Nice staff, doesn't smell like liquor even though the bar is a few feet away. Â A for effort.
Review Source:From the outside Buddies looks like any other sports bar in town. However, step inside and the experience is totally different. On the left is a family style restaurant and on the right is a full bar. On my visit to Buddies there was a baby girl behind me patting me on the back. About twenty feet in front of me was a biker bellied up to the bar. These two worlds were coexisting peacefully and were separated only by an entryway. I know of no other bar in the country who has achieved this separation of family restaurant and sports bar as well as Buddies.
Service here is jovial, enthusiastic, and friendly. For starters the appetizer menu is about two pages long. Appetizer plates run the gamut from fried zucchini to a full plate of nachos. The nachos here are a masterpiece built on a foundation of re-fried beans with seasoned meats, salsa, jalapenos, and cheese. Buddies serves some of the best nachos in town.
Buddies main menu is quite large and offers among other things steaks, salads, ribs, pasta, and seafood. Half orders are available and I like the way Buddies offers six ounce steaks. Buddies also has daily dinner specials. They have a Taco Tuesday and on our visit Buddies was serving all you can eat BBQ chicken. The food is above average and the proportions are quite large. The fries are delicious.
Sports bars are a dime a dozen. However, Buddies is a sports bar and grill that distinguishes itself nicely. This Aloha eatery proves that you don't have to get people drunk to make a living. Buddies provides it's customers with a competent bar and restaurant in a truly comfortable setting.
Having been here a few times now, I can say I love this place more every time I visit. I cannot fathom how they make such darn good food in a bar setting. I wonder what their kitchen looks like?
Today we had a French Dip Sandwich, Chicken Enchiladas and our friend had a Skirt Steak Sandwich and Strawberry Shortcake for dessert!
French Dip was wonderful, this is not beef out of a package, it is sliced medium thickness and there was a good amount, the Au Juice was perfect! Hubby enjoyed the Enchilada (stick with 2 instead of 3 or you will never finish it), the beans were home made not out of a can. He was able to sub steamed broccoli for rice.
Our friend had the Skirt Steak Sandwich and it was a huge piece of meat on a nicely toasted sub along with tomatoes, onions and lettuce.
The Strawberry Shortcake was HUGE, enough for three people easily!
The restrooms are clean, however there is a condom machine in the ladies rest room, which was a potent reminder that this is after all a bar. I think I will skip taking my parents there.
After finding Mad Greek Deli closed yesterday, Yelp led us to Buddies for lunch and to watch the Mariner game.
An earlier post has it right....this is a nice, little neighborhood sports bar. Â Lots of regulars, a very expansive menu, and drink specials. Â Lots of TVs in the "bar" area, but they also have several booths if you want to eat and not be overpowered by whatever game is on.
I will say that the servers were a bit slow to recognize an empty glass, but everyone had a good attitude and there was a pretty good vibe in the place.
I had the Monte Cristo sammich (I know, those will kill me) and it was pretty darned good. Â Wife wanted an appetizer and had the steak bite things, which looked a little over fried to me, but she liked them fine.
Buddies is no where close enough that we would find ourselves there often, but if we're out 185th way, I'd sure go there before I ate at some of the "factory food" places.
Came to Buddies with a buddy of mine lol. This will be my neighborhood bar from now on whenever I wan't to get a couple of drinks and enjoy fine food with games. The Tesquito was the best I've ever had , Fries where crispy hot , with some decent Sesame Rice. Although I'd wanted to trying the tempting Chicken Fried Steak. It was still a pleasant suprise we had such great food. All the staffs there were really friendly.
Review Source:Stopped in tonight and realized they have changed their menu and the food & service was great.
Great place for a quick bite and a strong drink.
The food is good but it's bar food so don't go in expecting g a 5 star dining expierence. Â If you want good food and some great drinks stop by.
This is a great neighborhood sports bar with friendly people!!!
A local bar in the burbs of Beaverton/Aloha. Always has cars in the parking lot. Stopped in for the first time after living near it for 5 years. They have a reputation for good service and decent bar food. I had the blue cheese, bacon, avocado burger. It actually was pretty tasty. Dish came with fries, nicely deep fired with some sort of coating on them making them crispier than normal fries. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food came quickly as well.
I suppose I'll go back but Ringo's is not much farther and offers better food along with pool tables. Buddies seems like a good local bar with decent food and fair prices.
