Talk about survival (and success) of the unfit-est, reverse restaurant Darwinism at its worst. Having been to another BWW in another state and having the same terrible experience, one begins to wonder how bad are the other options to go for a beer and watch some football locally, outside the land of the misfit servers. Â Or have we as a society lost all respect for our palates and run to the place with the brightest shiny lights?
At approximately 5:15pm on Sunday, myself and 2 friends stroll in for a beer or two and something to eat, simple in theory yet darn next to impossible in performance. Fifteen minutes to order our first beer was way to long, as the POS station congregation's discussion was more important than our needs, us, the paying customer.
The location was thinly populated, but as I have come to realize and accept at Fluffalo Lazy Beings, customers just will have to wait until the servers are through discussing Billy Johnny and Bobby and the date they had last night . I walked over to the three high school mentality servers and somewhat abruptly inquired who of them was to be the server this evening? They all looked at one another TOTALLY perplexed, as if I asked who is in-charge of serving the tables located on the roof this evening. Totally Clueless.. Eventually a server apologized, at that point there was little that was going to reverse the bad start. A manager came over who was quite young as well and comped our nachos which is just a gesture to quell the obvious disappointment. He was nice enough a fellow, but I could see he was a weak manager, as par for the course at this chain restaurant.
The boneless nuggets were atrocious, all breading, no flavor and 1 blue cheese for 3 options? Awful--
BWW's recipe for success?...Hire poorly trained, young high school mentality employees and churn them as often as necessary,. Works perfectly at the locations I have been to.
Having been in Food and Bev for years my reaction would have been to fire two of the four slackers, sit down with one for a review of customer interaction and promote the one girl that was busting her tail. Polishing silverware, busing tables, picking up loose paper on the floor is more of a model employee (and a trainee for manager possibly) than just hanging out as if we the customer were on their (the other female servers) time.... There is just no way would I ever return and I suggest to all the readers to review your options of smaller local establishments. Break the Chain folks, support local restaurants and bars, break the corporate chain People, we deserve better!
My husband decided on BWW for dinner, so I went along. Â The wings, which I've had before at other locations, were a major disappointment. Â COLD and over sauced. Â When the waitress came to check on us, I was going to tell her that they were cold but she walked up and said "Is everything OK? Â Good." and walked away before I could get a word out!
Husband was also disappointed. Â He said the wings at Booyah's were better.
Additionally, this place is LOUD! Â I also find it surprising that there are so many children there, considering it's mainly a bar.
I won't be returning.
Tasty wings, good atmosphere, and fun trivia...
The Muskegon installment of the giant chain Buffalo Wild Wings is on par with pretty much all of the other locations I've been to (and I've even been to the one in Honolulu, HI). One thing that sets it apart is it's attempt to integrate the local scene into its decor--there are mentions and paraphernalia of most (if not all) of the local high school sports teams. I found this to be a nice touch.
My food was the usual: dozen traditional wings (all drums) with Asian Zing sauce, celery, ranch dressing, and a tall Oberon (it IS spring after all). Tasted as it always does, so I suppose that means the BDubs locations are reliable. Service was okay. This place employs lots of younger waitstaff, so they can be clumsy at times. But our server was sufficiently attentive. (I'm not a service snob anyway, so I'm probably easier to please than most.)
I also love that they offer Buzztime video trivia. It's one of the reasons I like going to BDubs. It's fun to gnaw on wings, sip cold beers, and match trivia wits with friends and strangers from across the country. And BDubs is a great place to watch a game. So many screens line the walls you're bound to be sitting close enough to a screen carrying the game you want.
My major hangup with the chain in general is the price. The wing sauces are tasty, but the wings aren't cheap. Try for a Tuesday or Thursday night when the traditional and boneless wings are on special, respectively. An afternoon of drinking beer and eating wings while you watch a football game can easily set you back $40 or more. I love coming here when I can, but I'm afraid I can't splurge quite so often.
All in all, I enjoy hitting up any BDubs location, and I have no qualms recommending this sports-oriented wing joint to anyone. Eat up!
Normally, BWW is a great sports bar and has great (albeit not quite so healthy) foods. We gave this location two tries.
The first time, the benches and tables weren't wiped down very well. The person who came to take care of it was lazy and had a standoffish attitude. Lucky for us, she ended up being our waitress. JOY.
When asking if we can have a menu, she pointed at the other end of the table and said, 'its right there...'. I wish I could have back-slapped her right then and there. Oh well, it was just one more dollar off her already dwindling tip.
On the second attempt, during a takeout run, one of the salads had plastic in it---that ended things right there.
Unless you want shotty service and extra party gifts in your food, I'd recommend passing this place and going across the street to Red Robin.
This big chain wing place is better than any of the many independent wing joints I've been to. An excellent variety of sauces, all of which are good and flavorful as well as the spiciness level advertised. They do a good job with boneless wings, which many places use poor meat, dry out, under sauce, or otherwise mess up. Their regular wings are meaty and good. They have a couple good types of fries, and wraps and salads for people who aren't into the mess of wings.
I've always had above average service here even in groups with picky eaters, demanding orderers, and, let's say, rowdy drinkers.
Four days ago me, my brother and his friend went to Buffalo Wild Wings for the Boneless Thursday special. We were waited on by a waitress who, only to me, was stuck up acting for no apparent reason and basically acted like I was invisible. She served our chicken wings and beer, but other than that did not treat me with the same courtesy and respect as she did to my brother and his friend. This was apparent from the start to when we each paid our bill and left. She hardly made eye contact with me and never smiled, but clearly showed favoritism towards them and really only asked them how everything was with the service. Nothing about her behavior towards me was welcoming and friendly. When I was done eating she never bothered taking away my utensils. I was very aware she was brushing me off but yet had no idea why. During this whole time we were eating she never gave me the same equal treatment. Then after we paid for the food she completely ignored me and only looked at them, smiled, and thanked them for visiting and to have a good night. I didn't leave the place with a good feeling at all. Once I got home I immediately took the survey about the customer service and also went to the website to make a complaint and chose to be contacted by a representative via e-mail. They said their guest relations team will review my comments and respond in a timely manner but tomorrow will be going on five days and I still received no response.
Update: I got the last laugh. Spoke to a representative on the phone and he apologized to me and told me the manager would have a word with her. I also received a formal apology letter in the mail along with a free discount. Wouldn't have had to happen if their waitresses were more courteous and treated everyone equally.
We went to BWW for the first time last weekend. Â It was my friends birthday and she wanted to go there. Â There was a big group of us--about 15. Â BWW has around 12 different barbecue sauces to choose from. Â If you ask them, they will bring out a taste of the one you would like to try. Â We had so many people that we got to taste all of them. Â I asked for 3 different kinds and they brought them all out to try. Â It was pretty nice!
The drinks were very good also. Â The appetizers were very good. Â
My only complaint was that when they brought out my ribs, they were cold. Â Not luke warm, but down right cold. Â I was even wondering if they were suppose to be served cold. Â Down at the other end of the table, one of my other friends sent his back as they were also cold. Â They went and heated them up and brought them back and they were good.
Buffalo Wild Wings is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in town. You can't go wrong with the affordable prices and delicious wings. My girlfriend and I try to eat there at least once a month and every time we've received great service and great food! Our usual order consists of 2 drinks, 1 appetizer (cheese sticks) and 1 order of 18 pc. wings and only costs $22.00. The meal is always very filling.
I have absolutely no complaints about BWW and have eaten there more times than I care to realize.
*goes for a run*
