We stayed here this past weekend, We've stayed at this place many years ago and found it pleasant, with a nice stretch of Beach to walk on and large private deck to fish from. Â Sorely neither of these is of much benefit any longer. Â The deck has seen much better days, though looks to be under repair still carries a "Danger; Enter at your own risk" sign on entrance. Â The nice stretch of beach has been now privatized with just a small area on either side of the dock or boat launch that is still open to the public. Â Though you can still quietly pass through a 400 yard stretch you cannot stay and let the kids play or fish. Â The restaurant above the rooms is closed and looks to have been for quite a while. Â The room was clean but grounds are badly in need of a gardener. Â I have two service dogs (miniature poodles) each has their own role in my care. Â I have always tried to book where my dogs are welcome. Â Even if I for one reason or another have to book in a place with a general no pet policy; most places are happy to accommodate them. Â Both Dogs are well groomed, well behaved and are never left alone in the room. Â We take all measure to protect the owners' property from possible accidents and to keep the dogs out of others personal space. Â In this case we had an apparent miscommunication. Â We were aware of the No Pet Policy but explained they are not pets they are service dogs. Â We thought things were straight. Â We arrived on Friday with plans to stay until Monday; the manager was on a weekend trip so we were greeted in the Parking lot on Sunday and were told in front of all to hear; in a very abrupt and confrontational manner to go ahead and sue if we wanted to but to take the dogs and our things and leave so if you have a Service animal you will be ejected despite ADA laws so just don't bother unless you're willing to call in the authorities to force the issue. Â Due to my medical condition I was not so we prepared to leave. Â The dogs were not allowed back in the room so only one of us could gather our belongings as she stood outside waiting for us to give her a check for Saturday night and collect the keys. Â I went into the room to find she had gone in and put half our things in bags and the rest still out. Â Since we had only left for a short time to take the dogs for a walk with no expectation anyone would be entering during our absence; I had left my purse in the room, my prescriptions as well as our electronics etc. Â Nothing was missing but needless to say this intrusion was very uncomfortable. Â Despite her distress over the dogs she should have left our things untouched and let us pack them correctly for ourselves. To add insult to injury, when I came out to take over the dogs while my husband packed the car; I found poor Shelbie had fallen into a pile of bramble and got so many burs in her fur that she had to be shaved the next day. Â The groomer could not get them all out. Â The saddest part is this all could have been avoided. Â We booked the room over 4 months ago with a deposit for the first night. Â We felt we were clear about the dogs; she could have sent back our deposit and canceled the reservation to confirm she was also clear after our first conversation. Â We could have planned something else. Â Even if they change their attitude about Service animals, which is highly unlikely, we will never go back there again. Â There are plenty of nice places to go in the State of Washington with just as nice or nicer views to enjoy.
Review Source:My husband and I needed a short weekend getaway and decided to check out Whidbey Island. He found Bush Point online and booked it because it was right on the beach. Â Don't get discouraged when you arrive, because really, I think this place has seen better days. It looks a bit run down on the outside but it's not on the inside. We were greeted by the caretaker, Bonnie, and taken to our room. She showed us around and asked if everything looked ok before she ran our credit card. Bonnie was very nice and offered many helpful suggestions when we asked her about restaurants and things to do.
I guess I should mention that there is no breakfast here, just bed. Apparently the people who ran the restaurant upstairs retired a few years ago. Our suite didn't have a kitchen but it did have a full fridge, microwave, toaster, toaster oven and coffee pot. The appliances were kinda old but they worked. There is a shared kitchen in the hallway. We cooked a frozen pizza in the oven. I wouldn't try to cook a whole meal in there because it's pretty small. While the decor is a but outdated, everything was clean.
The location is a big selling point at this place. It is directly on the water with a nice little stretch of beach. You can even hear the waves crashing on the shore at night. All in all, not a bad spot for a weekend getaway that's not too far from the city.
