I live for a good dive bar honestly LOL... Sure I love the big crazy dance clubs too but this is a nice little gem inside of Reseda. I personally am in love with Karaoke Tuesdays with Robin. Lots of great talent, and of course lots of booze :) Super decently priced, and all the fun of a little gay bar without the pretense of West Hollywood :) Come out!
Review Source:Okay, have known the owner, Steve, for many years... Â I rarely carry cash, prefer to use my credit cards. Â NOW they are charging a $3.00 Point of Sale (POS). Â This is absolutely ridiculous! Â I will not be coming back. Â Was there on 7-06-2013, when I discovered the POS charge, I knew the bartender, the drinks were weak as water and the mixer guns nowhere in sight. Â I received flat 7-Up from a plastic bottle. Â He also treated me as if I was not there, mostly spending time on the patio, or with folks near his age. Â Just generally speaking, my husband and I could buy Steve out, without batting an eyelash, but we will let sleeping dogs lay. Â The only bar West of C Frenz is in the city of Ventura, the next is in Santa Barbara, it too, is a divey bar.
Review Source:I have been valley based for almost 30 years, yeah I am older. HaHa, This place C Frenz is ok, but I gotta say back when it was the Incognito West and after that Bananas, it was way cooler and alot of people from all backgrounds hanging out there just about every night of the week. This place was packed every weekend and even during the week some. I have pictures to prove it too!
More proof too, was the back parking lot & street parking situation & especially on weekends alot of times you had to park a block away!
Incognito West & even Bananas were packed with 100+ people on weekends & we celebrated birthdays & parties just for the heck of it all the time. This was even before the club was opened up more
It was a blast back then from 1988 until about 2006. After Bananas it kinda took a dive and stayed this way. Most folks move on and the connections get lost and most of the valley clubs and bars disappeared by the mid to late 2000's anyhow.
Incognito West used to have pool leagues, dart tournaments, bowling leagues & softball teams, karaoke on weekends and some activities all year long and even in the early to mid 1990's water volleyball in the summer.
Every September from 1992 until 1995 we had a blast at what was then the Rodel Ranch in Sylmar, playing water volley ball against around 15 other clubs & bars from all over the valley & Los Angeles - Incognito West won the championship trophy in both 1993 & 1994.We practiced at a home pool in the West Valley, this is why we won for Incognito West 2 years in a row.
Who remembers Incognito West & Incognito East, Rounds, The Gold 9, In Touch Lounge West, In Touch Lounge East, Mag Lounge, Oasis, The Lodge, Act III & Wellingtons Restaurants? Just some of the places all around the valley back in the 80's and 90's to mid 2000's.
Those were the best of days and nights and years and just about every place was packed every night of the week. You could go bar hopping all over the valley back then and have a blast of a good time. If anyone can flashback to these fun days, You might be in a picture or two!
This is the only place to go dancing in the Valley, and every time I go there on a Fri or Sat night, no one is there and no one is dancing. Â And it is 100% male centered. Â If you go to their website, you can see that every poster for every night that they are open shows a shirtless guy. Â Ew. Â Isn't a gay bar supposed to appear friendly to all gay people? Â At least have ONE day a week where women feel welcome. Â Also, I can't check their live stream to see if someday people actually dance, because their link doesn't work on any mac browsers; firefox, chrome or safari. Â Waaaaah!
Review Source:So imagine this, I live in the San Fernando Valley and I don't want to drive out far to West Hollywood so I find this nifty hidden Gay bar in Reseda *shrugs* I'll try it. Went on a Friday night, boy was it dead. Friendly bartender named Matt, he's down to earth, really fun to talk to. Moderate I suppose with prices for alcohol but I know what you're really looking for is, HOW ARE THE MEN HERE??
Well, if you're seeking to find the older dudes from adam4adam and grindr you avoid on the internet do not come here. This place I've come to realize has an older based community. I've come twice & once there were some pretty good looking gogo dancers who were entertaining basically themselves since the floor was dead (this was a Saturday night) & friday there were no dancers.
I do like the information available on taking care of yourself sex wise & the condoms, its comforting to know they're there even though I wouldn't spot a single person to use one with there. Its usually pretty dead & not to mention the pool table that is coin operated, only dispensed 4 balls not including the Cue ball. Smh. Not a place for young folk unless you're into daddies, otherwise you'll love this place LOL.
Went just to try out new places me and my friends are very open minded, so gay bars don't bother us just an adventure. Drinks were strong, bar tenders and waitress were nice. My gf and I liked dancing in front of the wall mirror. Fun music, has a patio outside. Obviously you need to open to the crowd... Cute guy dancers getting it like on the pole/stage. It was pretty fun for a spontaneous trying out something new kinda night.
Review Source:LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Â My girlfriend and I went here tonight for the first time ever and absolutely loved it! Â The bartender, Matthew, was really nice as well as all the people hanging out singing karaoke. Â We were instant friends with everyone in the bar and will definitely be returning next Tuesday!
Review Source:Easy FREE parking, Not many pretentious wannabes here.
I really like this place. they have cheap drinks, good vibes, good mini tacos, and hot bartenders. My favorite bartender there is Matt! He is awesome and makes the best drinks. This place is pretty diverse, you never know who you are going to see or meet here. Its truly a hidden bar/lounge bar in the valley. The only reason why i gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because there are alot of older guys here AND its not the nicest place as far as new bar tables and chairs. (its either a hit or a miss on Tuesday nights for karaoke) BUT i like it here and i make a trip there like once a month!
I was house-sitting in Northridge and was looking for something close-by to do and decided to try C Frenz with a friend. Â What a cool discovery - we had a great time - the bartenders were friendly, hot and quick. Â The dancers were also sexy, very friendly and two were especially hung. Â (D.K. must have been on an off night b/c 3 out of 4 were def. hot and "porn-worthy") The outdoor patio is intimate and perfect for conversation - nice ambience and there's a "Queen Taco" stand/table (?) right in the back to order food during or after which was pretty good. Â There are 2 pool tables and a dance floor - reminded me a bit of a "mini-MJs" in Silverlake with a more unique "edge." Â Overall, everyone was super nice and it was a diverse mix of people - will definitely go back when I'm in the Valley again - kinda wish it was closer to LA but then again, it's nice that it will probably be able to maintain it's charm at it's current location. Â Who knew such a cool gay place existed in Valley?
Review Source:Free Pool Thursdays! drinks are super strong and super cheap. What's there NOT to like?
2 for one drink specials. and they basically put coke in your "rum and coke" just to add some color to the drink...haha. music isn't bad either. I HATE top 40's and these guys play more of those old 90's pops tunes and madona and michael jackson.
drunken cycling!
so the mister and i decided upon biking as our mode of transportation to the woodland hills amc yesterday. despite the weary grunting and temporary nausea that set in on route, the entire excursion was an unequivocal success, in large part because, as we wended our way back, we found ourselves at the intersection of sherman way and reseda, with the rainbow flag of c frenz beckoning us forth.
nothing brings a smile and a perk up to my spirits like the promise of a cool, dark interior with steady pours, and when the mister indicated our locale and its possibilities, i knew i could make it all the way home.
twas about 2:30 friday afternoon, and the bar was relatively empty save for a handful of patrons who were rehearsing for the sunday night free for all, where you can evidently perform any number of routines. lip sync? check. dance routine? check. karaoke? check. the gasian guy dancing to korean techno/pop was enthralling, and the guys and dolls lip sync routine also had its charms.
perhaps most noteworthy though, was eric, an elderly gent in his late 60s or so, who came up to me whilst the mister was in the little boys' room (perhaps i ought not call it that, all things considered?) to tell me i reminded of a woman named hannah, with whom he had been terribly in love many years ago. eric then proceeded to serenade/show off his singing prowess via a charlie daniel song.
thus, some four drinks later, we cycled most drunkenly toward home, where my jello-y legs promptly refused to hold my weight.
i just don't get why our 4 drinks, from 2:30 to 3:30 in the afternoon, came to $30.00, which is why i'd prefer to issue forth 3.5 stars instead of 4.
This is a gem, for Reseda this is like a tiny gay oasis. It's totally adorable.
The admission is free, the crowd albeit is like a back of strange marbles, each one more different and strangely shaped than the next, but very friendly and welcoming.
The drink are good, the bartenders are friendly and will make you what you want if you just tell them how.
The drag show on Sunday nights is entertaining to say the least. So many different characters, so much imaginary estrogen! If you're going to the drag show, don't forget your 1's, cos i felt toally uncomfortable and off-gaurd when I had nothing to tip. Sorry Ladies!
Excited to see more!
Stiff drinks, soft men. That's really the only way I can think of to describe C. Frenz. The name is camp, just not the good kind. Plain and simple: it's a dive bar in Reseda. Reminds me of a place I used to frequent back in Riverside called VIP (Yes, I used to live in the IE). The greatest thing about a place like this is that it's not trying desperately to be anything it's not. It's a bar that knows its pecking order; it's rank in the hierarchy of gay bars in LA, if you will. Certainly if you live on the Westside, you're not clamoring to hop over the hill for a slice of Reseda nightlife. The charming thing about C. Frenz, and bars like it, is that there's a stronger sense of community than you'd get, say at Fiesta Cantina in WeHo or Akbar in Silverlake. With Bingo on Monday nights and karaoke on Tuesdays, go only if you're up for a crowd of regulars sipping cheap beer and stiff cocktails.
Review Source:My gays & I have been here a couple times due to not wanting to drive to Weho, Silverlake or anywhere that takes more than 5 minutes really. Always a random night & everytime we've been creeped out. I love eccentric people, but are not fond of creeps. One things for sure, we always walk out w/ an interesting story to tell (ex:guy in the wheelchair that feels up on others or hangs out by the stripper. People never believed me till they saw it for themselves). The mixed drinks are always waaayyy too strong (which I'm pretty sure a lot of people don't mind) so I always end up getting beer. Either way the drinks are really cheap so I guess it's a win:win situation. I have met some really nice people there but the weirdo's have out numbered them. There is always free parking which is a plus & has never been crazy crowded so you can actually have a conversation without yelling. I heard there was a drag queen wedding reception there a while back. That I would've loved to see bc I love me some drag queens & it's nice to know there is a place where a reception like that can take place for the local gays.
Review Source:Gays love two things: strong drinks and sassy gal pals. Â Go to C Frenz for both.
I went the other Thursday night and there weren't too many people in the place, until about 9 when this girl walked in and said she was hosting trivia. Â All of a sudden, people were coming in and forming teams to play for prizes and best of all... FREE DRINKS! So serious. Â There's a round where they give away free drinks to the team that wins it. Â On top of that, there are prizes for the teams with top 3 scores at the end of the game. Â And okay, so me and my friend didn't win a prize, but we still had a blast. Â The girl was so funny on the microphone and everyone was having such a good time. Â This might also be because the bartender was pouring some mean drinks. Â But the trivia was definitely unique. Â You don't find that at too many gay bars. Â Oh and Steve the owner was getting in on the action too. Â I am soooo coming back here on Thursdays for trivia. Â Think it starts at 9.
This is a great local neighborhood club. Steve, the owner is really cool. I promote a Trangender/Alt club event there named Syren!, which happens the 2nd Saturday of each month. Â For more info, please go to http://www.syrenclub.com.
Syren! has been doing events at C. Frenz since September 2009. It's a nice roomy club, with 200+ capacity, two-sided bar, great lighting and sound system, an elevated stage, nice open-air outdoor patio that's covered, and separate lounge area.
The staff is super friendly (thanks Chris and Matt) and it's a very welcoming atmosphere. I'm quite pleased having Syren! events there and encourage people to patronize this club/bar.
It has a very chill attitude and you'll like it.
C Frenz is a great place to go with friends when you wanna hang out...talk and have some cheap drinks. Â I like th play darts and they have two electronic dart boards. Â So thats cool! Â If ur lookin for Weho...it aint that...which is why it is located in Reseda. Â But if you wanna just get a drink and feel at home with the boys...its a cool place.
Review Source:Came on a Wednesday night. We thought there was going to be an amateur strip show, but we hear that has been moved to Sunday. Oh well.
The place is pretty cool mellow. Â It is not super trendy or run down. Â Just an inviting feeling. Mixed crowd from young to old. 2 pool tables, darts, and a cool out door patio. A lot less pretentious than WeHo. We are planning on coming back on a Friday or Saturday when we hear the good nights are!
I LOVE C Frenz!!! The drinks are cheap and STRONG which is a rarity at most bars I've gone to, the people that go are super nice and friendly, and you can watch gay guy porn on the TV!!! Is there a better place for a little straight girl to lose her soul? Probably. But not this close to CSUN. ;)
My friend Jesus and I usually go there on Tuesday nights for karaoke and have a good drunken fun time. :)
Heyyyyyy!
Queenies everywhere. Not many hot lesbians to check out, if one is so inclined. Awesome gay manporn on the TVs over the bar. Occasionally there are dancing boys, too. Decent beer selection and lots of alcohol. Good prices. Pool tables. What's not to love, right?
I've come to this bar with a lesbian friend, who doesn't understand my fascination with the manporn, and with a Muslim friend, who ordered a soda, sat staring up at the "film" playing, and asked me, "Why is this kinda hot?"
Yeah, it's a trashy gay bar in Reseda. Which is perfect for Reseda--and for me. Not too expensive, not too cheap. There are some lingering older creepies, but that happens at any bar, gay or straight--and most of the time without the added bonus of getting to watch guys ram each other on the television. I'd rather be here surrounded by homos than at Pogo's, surrounded by meth addicts and skinheads.
Love it!
A gay bar? In the valley?!?! My friends and I had to check this out. We went on a Thursday night and didnt expect many people, and thats what we found. A pretty empty place.
But it was still a great time because we sipped on super strong and yummy drinks (apple martini!) while catching up. That night also had free juke box and pool. Although we only took advantage of the tunes.
The bar tender was super sweet and told us that theyre much busier on Fri/Sat. Theres plenty of dance space and even a curtained room with couches. Not to mention all the extra space, with pool tables, if you're not a dancer.
I cant wait to check this place out on a happening night.
Oh and you cant beat free parking right out front.
My friends and I stopped by this place after looking for a good bar in Reseda. We stopped by and it was a pretty cozy place and it had a great outdoor patio. The crowd was a little on the older side and there weren't too many people. I can't remember if we went on a weekend or a weekday. I bought Long Island Iced Teas for my friends and every single one of them them was incredibly strong. Neither one of us could finish the drink. The music they play is typical gay club music: Gwen Stefani and the likes. Wasn't too into it. The dance floor is a little small and has a huge mirror on one side. I can possibly imagine myself stopping by in the future, but that is a big maybe.
Review Source:Gawd I came here back in the day of it being called Incognito and having just 1/2 the space. I used to go a lot back in the day when I was an 818er and didn't want to go to weho... now living in Hollywood and going to 818 is like just wrong haha
Been here on a few occasions over the past few years..nothing too much to remember other than it is a neighborhood bar with good drinks and cheap prices..
I'd only go back if i was lost with a friend in the 818 and needed to cure the parched mouth ahha
I love C. Frenz! Â I know a lot of people think this bar is trashy, and I just don't understand it. Â Sheeit, some people's standards are just unrealistically high... this is a gay bar in Reseda, for fuck's sake! Â Pull the stick out of your ass, sit down, and enjoy a drink because life's too short to be so anal (no pun intended!).
The bartenders are some of the sweetest and friendliest guys around... they will remember your name once you start coming in. Â I usually come here for happy hour after work, and enjoy meeting new friends. Â In fact, most of the patrons of this bar are usually no-bullshit, unpretentious people who are down to earth and very cool. Â
One of these days, I'll venture out for Bingo night... I've heard good things! Â :)
I way prefer Micah's review of this place. The smell really says it all. I ordered a vodka soda w lime and it was hardly drinkable- with a twang of whatever they're spraying to keep alway the bugs. The crowd here is hardly attractive- instead middle age nasty guys who barely graduated high school.
Im editing the last part, that tallied the entire description but lets just say they play some very graphic (but funny) porn.
C. Frenz is an awesome bar/nightclub! It's a great place to relax and chill out in the Valley. Â The drinks are cheap, the place is spacious, it's easy to park, the people have NO attitude and the bartenders are sexy and nice! If you're there on the weekend (Friday or Saturday) and see a bartender named Sammy (tall, slim, olive-skinned, cute guy), ask for a "Sammy". Â It's an awesome drink that is a variation on a Long Island Iced Tea and gets you started on some fun! They play hip-hop, R&B, pop, and Latin on the weekends. Â It's a really friendly crowd and you meet all sorts of people who are fun and interesting! They are just cool, whether they are gay, lesbian, bi, or straight. Â It's not just a gay bar, it's a place that everyone can feel comfortable in! Pool table, darts, a smoking patio, and a roomy dance floor to get your groove on! Â Also on Wednesday nights there is a male revue with a cover. Â It's a fun show, worth the price to check it out and have some fun! But for the most part, I go on the weekends as a good way to unwind from the week and just have some good old F-U-N! So come on by and check it out and like I said, look for Sammy and try the drink!
