OK. Â Well. Â Another Athens music venue visited.
I was in town on business, and a band I had on my "see these guys" list was playing that night. Â I had a pretty good idea of where I was supposed to go. Â Except that that their street address is the stage door. Â Gotta go around the corner to find the entrance.
Nice outoor setting before the gate, bar and stage inside. Â Beer was priced about where I expected, sound quality was... well, it was loud. Â As expected. Â A few places to sit, a few more places to stand.
I'd go back, for the right price/band combination.
caledonias does not even deserve a rating. i went with a few friends to see one of my friends perform in her band. since we were all under 21, we showed the bouncer our real legitimate 18 year old id's and let the first three of us in. the last friend then showed him her real id but he claimed that he had already seen her before (earlier that night he kicked out an underage girl for using her fake id and he thought that my friend was her). we insisted that this girl was not the girl he kicked out but he refused to listen. even our friend who was performing in the band came over to argue, but he refused and yelled at us. we asked for the manager, asking for an apology. he gave one to us, but followed it up with a "fuck off." they were extremely rude, condescending and disrespectful, laughed in our faces and cussed at us. i will never be going there again.
Review Source:Located directly behind the amazing 40watt club the Caledonia is like the larger venue's little sibling. Hosting a slew of local, Atlanta, and smaller touring bands they provide a really fun indie atmosphere. Tickets are always cheap and you may get to witness an upcoming band that will headline the CMJ next year or one of the many local celebs sipping on a $2 PBR.
Dig it.
