Chang's Wok Inn

I've been to Chang's 4 times now. I've only dined in once, but unfortunately, it will be my last visit. It has a nice simple atmosphere. It's modern looking, clean, and quiet.

I ordered the chicken and broccoli with an egg roll. The egg roll was great, however, the chicken and broccoli was just bad. The chicken and veggies were overly sauced with the most bland red/brown sauce that had little to no flavor whatsoever. It wasn't sweet or salty, or spicy or anything! Just no flavor! The chicken and broccoli was luke-warm, and the "fried" rice served on the side was sticky and far from fresh. I alerted the server of my dissatisfaction.

After discussing my disappointment of the dish with the server, followed by the owner, they made it clear they didn't care if I was satisfied, and repeatedly told me I would be paying for the dish (I never gave the idea I wasn't going to pay?), and they could not offer me a different dish as a courtesy. I left hungry, upset, and of course, with a bad taste in my mouth.

I guess the moral of the story is make sure that the cook makes a dish you know you like, and make sure he makes it hot and fresh, because otherwise, it's your problem, literally.

It's just a shame, 3/4 times it's been good food from Chang's, but bad customer service is just a deal-breaker for me; I work in a restaurant my self and couldn't imagine treating a customer so poorly.

Chang's Wok Inn is a great play on words and quite an elegant place with a casual yet inviting atmosphere.  In addition to their regular menu, they offer an authentic Chinese menu that some of us order off of almost exclusively.  The authentic menu isn't extremely large but I can't complain - I'm always pleasantly surprised to find an authentic menu.  We ordered the salt & pepper shrimp and the cumin lamb and both were very well prepared.

We walked in on a busy Friday night and were seated right away. The Crab Rangoon and Spring Rolls with Sweet & Sour sauce were hot, fresh and crisp. All three entrees were well seasoned and distinct from one another: Vegetable Lo Mein, Cashew Tofu, and Potato/Green Pepper/Eggplant. The check came a bit slowly, but by then it was far too late to change our minds - we were already sold on coming back again.
