My partner and I had previously been to Chappy's for a Bell's tap takeover...and there was nowhere to sit.  So we left.  It was still on the list of "places to go" so we went today.
On Sunday, draft beers are a dollar off and appetizers are two dollars off, so we made a meal of appetizers (and beer).  We started with a flight of "hoppy" beers.  Two, we had previously tried, two we had not.  We ended up liking one that we'd never tried, and it is now on the official beer list I keep in my phone.

We then got the loaded chips, which were great, though they had been sitting a minute; the cheese wasn't quite as melty as it had been, but still very good. Part of what probably added to that is they make their own potato chips; I'm not a fan of the barbecue variety, which these were, but they were very good.   The beer battered shrimp was great, as were the chicken nuggets (not what they were called, but.....I forget) and fries.  The waitress, though a little slow to begin with, stepped up her game and was very helpful in bringing samples of beer.  At one point, I ordered another of what I had, and she suggested something else she thought I might like.  Since it was but a sample, I was happy to try it.
It was not overly crowded on this Sunday afternoon, and despite the fact that it's a bit of a drive from Fairborn, we have decided that at least once a month (ok; that's me) we'll be driving to Chappy's to try some more great beer and food.

A Tap Room with a food and a separate beer menu is right up my alley. Chappy's has 30 beers on draft and over 50 in bottles.
Last Saturday night I went with my parents for the Easter holiday weekend and the place was packed. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, but gave me time to go through the beer menu which was extensive, craft beer, Belgian and some of the national brands. They also update the availability of beers on tap on board when you walk in the restaurant and online on their website. Their website advises if you're making a special trip to call to check since their taps change often and from their website they have special tasting events throughout the week and a beer club.
I went in the bar area and welcomed right away I settled on 3 Floyds Gumballhead, an American Wheat Ale, whenever I see 3 Floyds on tap at a restaurant its a must.
We were seated in a comfortable booth in the back dining room, which was covered with Cincinnati brewing history posters and labels - Red Top, Christian Moerlein, Hudepohl and Schoenling which made you feel right at home and a few large screen TV's showing the basketball tournament.
Now on to the food, my Dad is a sucker for good fried chicken and according to their menu their Crispy Fried Chicken is marinated 24 hrs, hand battered and prepared to order, served w/dinner roll. Note they advise to allow 30 minutes and my Dad loved it, he devoured all of it.
Their entrees come with two sides, so we went with a side salad, which was was great size and their homemade salad dressings are some of the best I've ever tried. The Gorgonzola blue cheese was filled with chunks of cheese and so good - you have to have this dressing on your salad. My Mom had the Creamy Garlic, which was nice and creamy, but not too garlicy.
I tried the smothered chicken breast which was good size,  note on the entree, you will have leftovers, flavorful and chose the Cheesy Mashed Potato casserole based on our server's recommendation - he said its the best side they have on the menu. The casserole was good, I would try again.
My Mom went with a standard burger with side of mac & cheese. The only side which wasn't good was the Verna's Old Fashioned Mac & Cheese, I'm all for a good mac & cheese, but was practically the Kraft mac & cheese version, somewhat cold.
Our service was great, he checked on us several times throughout the dinner and I finished off with one of my favorite beers and love finding it on tap Lindeman's Framboise, Belgian raspberry beer.
Chappys is a great addition to the Dayton area dining scene, which I can't wait to return to when I'm back in town.

This was my first time here and I will admit at first glance I didn't think too much of the place. That being said, they have the best selection and variety of beer I have EVER seen. We were part of a big group since it was a friends birthday. Everyone's food looked delicious and I heard no complaints. To me the winner was the beer! I have recently taken a liking to dark beers and boy did they have some to choose from! My advice, order food your comfortable with and try as many different beers as you can!
