    This place was awesome!
The food is authentic, and the salsas have a nice kick.
Portions were generous and service was excellent.
Very few booths- and it was busy on a weeknight.

I was totally impressed! Dont let the deceiving store front trick you!

Because I am vegetarian I get their vegetarian burrito--and the burrito is so fresh and HUGE--it usually lasts me until the next day. Even after microwaving it, it tastes just as great! Takeout--I paid for my burrito and had it in 5 minutes :)

The only BAD experience per se, is when i order a veggie burrito, but instead receive a burrito con carne. At first I would just bring it home, then realize that oh crap...it has meat in it. I would drive back and they would make the correct burrito.

    Otherwise, they are fantastic!

I've been here twice. Nothing special. I've had much better in Chicago. I ordered two tacos (Chorizo & Carne Asada) and a Gordita. The Gordita was not in a pocket like I prefer it. Something was just off about it. The tacos were not that flavorful & the chorizo tasted a little dry, yet greasy.
I have to admit the place has a nice atmosphere for a small place and the service was very polite. I enjoy the place itself, just with the food was a little better.

Me and my boyfriend just discovered chenchos a few weeks ago.  Best Mexican food in the southside hands down.  Steak tacos are amazing!! Highly recommend calling your order in during the after work rush...this place is busy for a reason.

The best Mexican food sure comes from the little places....prices are cheap and if you eat there you are surrounded by a bright color atmosphere. It is just a typical little Mexican place but they really decorated it to look nicer.
Had their food a few times...each time no complaints.

Their Mexican nachos are a perfect way to start your dinner. I think we were fighting over them! Tacos are always a great choice and I heard nothing but great things about how they cook their steak (we ordered steak fajitas). And their chile rellenos are as authentic as it gets. Great Mexican place for the area! I can see why they are always busy when we go.

Aside from the football sized burritos, Chenchos has some great uncommon mexican food that I've never seen anywhere else. It's very good and is inexpensive for the portion size. My new favorite mexican joint; sorry Lalo's...

As far as burrito joints go, this place is great. Friendly service, CLEAN, nice decor and families come to dine in. Its a small place but not crowded with tables.

The food comes nice and hot and not too fast which seems to be made to order. The tacos are excellent, no matter what meat you choose get them with onion and cilantro only. Love them this way!

I have had the menudo twice and must say I have had better. It was just too greasy for me and didn't finish it both times. Although it has been a while since I have had it there, so hopefully they have changed recipe so its not greasy.

This is a very small restaurant with maybe 10-12 tables/ booths.  It is decorated fairly well and most importantly, is very clean with good friendly service.  The food was also very good.  We had the tacos and fajitas and both were very good.  For a change of pace, our fajitas came with a lot of vegetables which many restaurants tend to skimp on.  Note, that this restaurant looks like a take-out place from the outside but in fact, has waitress service.  I recommend it!

I have been here twice, and perhaps I am unfairly comparing this to my favorite taquerias if Chicago, but the food at Chenchos is just okay. Not bad, not good, just okay. My tortillas were greasy this last time. The frijoles has the taste and texture of canned beans. Salsa verde had no flavour at all. But, two stars for getting the order right, being clean and serving the food piping hot.

I am Mexican and think this place is great. For those who stick with common Mex fare, they may find it ho-hum. For those that try their soups or items like guisado de peurco, it is unrivaled in the area. You'd have to drive to Joliet Mex neighborhoods for better. I love the way the staff calls everyone "honey" or "baby." It cracks me up. Prices are good. Waits can be long, so call ahead.

I really enjoy Chenchos. I've been going here for a while and it seems to only have improved over time. The prices are fair and you get a lot for the price. Even if you walk in 15 minutes before they close they always do their best to accommodate you. I have had nothing but great experiences at Chenchos!

ay Chihuahau, this place is good.

Although I was not expecting anything good from this place I was very surprised.  Having grown up in Pilsen and Cicero, I've come to expect good Mexican food but when we moved to Homer I thought that was going to be a thing of the past or at least a longer drive, but Chencho's has changed that.  The burritos are good and are probably closer to anything I've had in my old neighborhood in terms of taste.  But I highly recommend the Carne en su jugo (Steak Soup), I'm a big fan of it having grown up with it.  It's basically steak that is off the grill and is then put into a bowl of beans, adding bacon, onions, tomatoes and other spices.  It's not the best I've ever had but it's very good and filling.  The escabeche (pickled veges) is good as well.
The staff is friendly, sometimes overly but I know it's because they're trying to impress.  It looks like it's ran by a family, which is always a great thing in my book.

I look forward to becoming a regular here for a very long time.

I really don't understand the appeal of this place. My theory is that because the only other mexican place in the area is Pepe's, so this place somehow seems more "authentic". I was doing some yardwork on 5/5 and without thinking headed to Chenchos for some tacos just because it was late and didn't feel like cooking. Yes, I should have been preprared for the cinco de mayo onslaught. But, fact is, I've been here about 6 or 7 times now. and most times, it's packed. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't come back if it was bad- it's OK. Nothing to die for. But certainly nothing worth waiting 15-20 minutes for. I don't like their corn tortillas either

I didn't really care for this place.  I've had much better.  The food is pretty bland.

Finally, some seriously good tacos for Homer Glen.

I have only ordered the steak tacos (corn tortilla, everything + cilantro) because they are so damn good.  The carrots on the side are the bomb, and the hot sauce super tasty.  Horchata is good too.  Skip the salsa and chips, the salsa tastes like straight up tomato paste.  Good prices - maybe $6.50 for 4 tacos.

    Really good mexican food.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to meat. I like chicken, but really only white meat so I'm always hesitant to get a burrito... Well, Chencho's has a Poblano Pepper burrito. It's vegetarian, which I am not, but it was REALLY good. Peppers are used in place of meat, and the burrito was awesome.

My boyfriend got a chicken burrito and loved it as well.

Other bonuses: Ready for pickup in 10 minutes (we called ahead) and $10 total for 2 burritos... cheaper than the other popular burrito chains (and actually better). Quality mexican food, reasonable price. Loved it!
