The husband and I decided to try this place for lunch today after seeing all the great reviews posted here on yelp. The food was delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was open and inviting. My husband had the angus burger and he said it was the most delicious burger he's had in a very long time. I had the chicken panini and it was fresh and tasty. The Banana Bliss, which is their signature treat, was very good and their natural chocolate sauce was incredible. We're so glad we decided to try it out and we'll definitely go back again!
Review Source:Too many things were wrong to give this more than 2.5 stars.
For starters, it was freezing in there. I am normally my own portable heating unit, but when we dined at Blissful Banana last Saturday, we all had our coats on for the whole meal. Uncomfortable.
We sat in the back room. The restaurant was not busy. We were the only ones in the back room at the time and the floors were a mess. There was salad, cheerios and other various foodstuffs all over the floor. I got the impression that they had not swept since lunch. Maybe they wait until the place is closed to clean. I don't know, but there was way too much food on the floor for me to want to dine in again.
We ordered the nachos to appetizer to share. The toppings were sparse. We got mostly plain chips and the ground turkey meat was not hot.
I had a southwest salad, I think it was called the Angel-Lea. It was okay, nothing special, but nothing bad. Portion was as expected. The two people I was with ordered the flank steak quesadilla, only to be given the chicken quesadillas, because they had run out of steak and needed to re-marinade the meat, a process that they said takes 12 hours. The quesadillas were lackluster.
It seems a shame that I can't share the same love for Blissful Banana that my fellow yelpers have, but heat, having menu items available and clean floors are important to me.
Casual breakfast/lunch spot in the SW burbs. Â Why should you make the trip to Orland? Well, the fresh food is healthy and lovingly prepared, the coffee is delicious and also expertly prepared, and also, BANANA BLISS. Â Seriously, come for lunch, stay for a Banana Bliss, which is an "all-natural frozen treat made entirely from banana." It's basically banana soft serve, and I couldn't be happier about it. OH, and they serve BOOZE! Hooray!
UPDATE: after getting off my butt to use the restroom, i discovered that there IS a cozy seating area towards the back of the cafe. Â The things i learn while en route to the restroom. :)
{My only con was that I was hoping for a cozier cafe atmosphere, with comfy chairs and the like. It was pretty empty when I came for lunch on a Thursday afternoon, but I imagine it gets pretty crazy on weekends and such, so maybe there's just not room for a coffeehouse-type atmosphere. Â But it would be awesome.}
So, come to Orland and keep this place busy!
