The husband and I decided to try this place for lunch today after seeing all the great reviews posted here on yelp. The food was delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was open and inviting. My husband had the angus burger and he said it was the most delicious burger he's had in a very long time. I had the chicken panini and it was fresh and tasty. The Banana Bliss, which is their signature treat, was very good and their natural chocolate sauce was incredible. We're so glad we decided to try it out and we'll definitely go back again!
Review Source:Too many things were wrong to give this more than 2.5 stars.
For starters, it was freezing in there. I am normally my own portable heating unit, but when we dined at Blissful Banana last Saturday, we all had our coats on for the whole meal. Uncomfortable.
We sat in the back room. The restaurant was not busy. We were the only ones in the back room at the time and the floors were a mess. There was salad, cheerios and other various foodstuffs all over the floor. I got the impression that they had not swept since lunch. Maybe they wait until the place is closed to clean. I don't know, but there was way too much food on the floor for me to want to dine in again.
We ordered the nachos to appetizer to share. The toppings were sparse. We got mostly plain chips and the ground turkey meat was not hot.
I had a southwest salad, I think it was called the Angel-Lea. It was okay, nothing special, but nothing bad. Portion was as expected. The two people I was with ordered the flank steak quesadilla, only to be given the chicken quesadillas, because they had run out of steak and needed to re-marinade the meat, a process that they said takes 12 hours. The quesadillas were lackluster.
It seems a shame that I can't share the same love for Blissful Banana that my fellow yelpers have, but heat, having menu items available and clean floors are important to me.
Casual breakfast/lunch spot in the SW burbs. Â Why should you make the trip to Orland? Well, the fresh food is healthy and lovingly prepared, the coffee is delicious and also expertly prepared, and also, BANANA BLISS. Â Seriously, come for lunch, stay for a Banana Bliss, which is an "all-natural frozen treat made entirely from banana." It's basically banana soft serve, and I couldn't be happier about it. OH, and they serve BOOZE! Hooray!
UPDATE: after getting off my butt to use the restroom, i discovered that there IS a cozy seating area towards the back of the cafe. Â The things i learn while en route to the restroom. :)
{My only con was that I was hoping for a cozier cafe atmosphere, with comfy chairs and the like. It was pretty empty when I came for lunch on a Thursday afternoon, but I imagine it gets pretty crazy on weekends and such, so maybe there's just not room for a coffeehouse-type atmosphere. Â But it would be awesome.}
So, come to Orland and keep this place busy!
We love this place, always very fresh, healthy, delicious food. We have loved everything we have tried here. The banana bliss dessert I always enjoy, I have noticed it varies a little on sweetness which is due to the bananas changing I'm sure, but happy with that since nothing is added.
This is a unique place for the south side with a progressive menu and excellent quality at a great price.
Amazing food, great atmosphere! Staff is very friendly, and you can't go wrong with any order, everything I've had is great. Some of my favorites include; Arnold's Delight, Angle-lea Salad, BBQ Pizza, the Nachos. They also have craft brews, great coffee, Â fresh baked goods, and blissful banana for desert. Not only does the food taste great, but you can tell it's made with care, and the quality of the ingredients are superb. Stop by once, you'll be hooked!
Review Source:I have been driving by this place and kept saying to myself I'm going to stop in, I wish I would have gone in earlier. I got the Angel Lea salad and it was wonderful! Very fresh and the chicken was so tender...it was yummy. I will be a regular here. The inside of the restaurant was warm and the employees were super helpful.
Review Source:best lunch/brunch/coffee place in the south suburbs.
BBC has interesting menu with healthy flavorful options the best hot cocoa and tastiest soup I've ever had. I love that the food is simple but high quality.
banana bliss is awesome!!! finally dessert with no guilt. gotta try the chocolate sauce on top - amazing!!!!
a must to try if you are into coffee drinks, healthy food, vegetarian and gluten free choices, or just to try something new in the south suburbs
there should be a BBC on every corner instead of fast food chain restaurants! Â OH YEAH!!
Great little cafe and coffee shop in the Orland Park area. Food is fresh and flavorful. Staff is super friendly. The coffee drinks are the best part, with interesting options.
Recommend: Gorilla Coffee (I think that is what it is called? It's delicious frozen mocha drink with banana!!)
Con: While the dining room is clean, it's a little too open and a bit awkward. They could use a few couches or loungey-type chairs in the wide open area near the door for patrons who are there for the coffee. A nice place to relax.
For this review, let's play a game of "Would you rather?" And no, I can't promise I won't sneak in some risque questions that will make this rendition reminiscent of those high school and college days...
Would you rather...
Have a creamy treat that is pure potassium or have a smooth sweet packed with cals?
I know it's hard to beat ice cream, custard or gelato, but I can assure you that you won't miss those classic cold desserts when you try the signature frozen banana. Even my ice cream-loving husband had to do a double-take when he got his free sample: "No way this is just pureed frozen ripe banana!" We ordered a large size to split mixed in with granola and the healthified version of fudge sauce made of dark cocoa and fruit juice. I would have appreciated way more granola mixed in throughout, but the overall dish satisfied our sweet tooth. In the end, I would honestly prefer this over the usual frozen sweet snacks any day.
Would you rather...
Have a comforting bowl of Vitamins A and C or have a savory soup filled with gobs of cheese?
On a gray winter morning, a hot bowl of soup sounds heavenly. French Onion soup is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine because of the insane amounts of cheese and bread in it, whereas tomato basil soup is always more of my "guilt-free option." So when I saw Baked Tomato soup as a special of the day, my interest piqued. Hubby and I shared a big bowl of this, and it definitely was like the two soups combined into one. I absolutely adored the creamy tomato base with the layer of cheese glued to the top. However, I would have preferred a bit more of a crunchy crust of cheese. This ended up being one of my all-time fav versions of tomato soup.
Would you rather...
Have a filling fiber dish or a quick-fix of carbs to satiate the taste buds and empty stomach?
Another special of the day was the Spaghetti Squash. Don't be surprised when you find no noodles but squash strings instead. This in-season veggie made a beautiful presentation with half of the shell holding spaghetti-like butternut squash, mixed in with chunky marinara sauce and shaved parm. I did not miss my pasta because this dish was so flavorful with the fresh squash paired with juicy, sweet bits of tomato and salty cheese. It was a huge portion and came with a mixed green side salad. I even ended up taking some of it home for later.
P.S. I had some of my hubby's carne asada quesadilla, and we agreed that dish was just as amazing as what I ordered and described above because of the tender meat and just-made salsa.
To sum up, this brunch was all about the substitutes with all the health benefits and no loss on flavor. It ranks up there with some of my most memorable brunches, and if I'm ever back in the area, I will be sure to visit again.
The Blissful Banana offers fresh food to the suburbs. Â There is a nice variety of sandwiches and toppings for their signature dish, the banana bliss. Â The fudge they drizzle on their frozen treat is amazing as long as you enjoy dark chocolate. Â The only complaint about their food is that they do not adequately season their food but some people like that. Â Actually, I do feel a little healthier about it when I leave....
Review Source:My friend and I checked this place out for lunch on Friday. I would have never gone in just basing my decision on the name, because it seems like a dessert and coffee place. We went there Because I had heard from my brother, who lives in the area, that the place served pretty good food. I checked it out and loved the food. The service was good. The Decor in the place was a little dated, and didn't really jive with the overall feel of the restaurant. I had the beef sandwich and my companion had the black bean burger. We both thought they were great. It was also a nice touch that they served us frozen bananas prior to bringing out our regular food... a nice treat!
Review Source:See, now this is what I'm talking about!! Great tasting food! Once again, my handy dandy yelp app pays off! Thank you yelpers, you were right about this place! Big open place, easy on the eyes. Tucked away in the plaza. Meal was late, but they overcompensated! The roast beef was so worth the wait, I would wait again for it! Their ice tea tasted like fresh made sun tea! We will meet again, repeatedly, Blissful Banana Cafe!
Review Source:Love the Banana!!! Â I consider myself to be a pretty decent cook of healthy fare, so I love that I can get dinner here and it tastes like I made it but I didn't have to do any of the work!!! Â I have been here three times and I tried three different meals and they were all delicious!!! Â Guilt free and I am pleasantly full after wards. Â I would like to see them add some more options to the dessert menu. Â I know they try to keep things natural and healthy, I wonder if they could do some sort of vanilla option????
Anyway, love this place and I will be back!!!
LOVED this place. Â I went for lunch with my mother and we had a chicken salad sandwich and side salad and the henhouse panini and side salad. Â We then split a small banana dessert with hot fudge. Everything was homemade, fresh, tasty, and healthy. Â It is a locally owned business. Â Hmm a locally owned business with a focus on healthy, delicious food...what a FABULOUS change from all the chains in Orland Park serving fatty fried foods. Â
I am returning to this place every time I visit my mom in that area. Â It is such a treat and I hope the Orland community supports this business.
I have visited this cafe a few times and really enjoyed both visits. Â You have to respect a restaurant that is focused on healthy, organic ingredients. Â Not something you find too often in the area, especially at this price point. Â Check out the Blissful Banana and support a local small business.
Review Source:My wife and I are on vacation this week and we were looking for a new place to try.  We stumble on a Yelp review of this place.  We look to see what the other 22 Yelp  reviews have to say.  We decide let's head over to Blissful Banana Cafe in Orland Park and give it a try.  According to the Owner and also her Manager this place has been open since April of 2012.
After being seated we receive two samples of their Blissful Banana treat. Â Yes, it does seem to be like soft serve banana flavored ice cream but it is not. Â My wife thought it was too banana tasting, I thought it was creamy, cool and good. Â Well we each order a bowl of the clam, cheddar corn chowder for $4 dollars each. Â This was very good and actually really filling. Â We both thought the bowls were huge. Â The soup was very flavorful. Â The homemade muffin was good, but Maria and I both thought they almost seemed like they were day old muffins.
For our main course item, I ordered the Curtis Carne Asada Quesadilla for $10.25, with grilled, marinated flank steak (I do love Flank steaks), peppers, onions, chihuahua cheese, served with a side of salsa, sour cream and ketchup for my rosemary diced potatoes that came with my dish. Â Maria ordered The Idalia, (named after the Manager, even though she is Columbian and her husband is actually Cuban) for $8.75, with slow roasted Cuban pork, black forest ham, swiss cheese, pressed with a dill pickle, mayo and mustard on a Cuban style roll. Â Also my wife received the rosemary diced potatoes. Â Both my wife and I really enjoyed both dishes a lot. Â We thought both the Cuban sandwich and the quesadilla were plentiful and delicious. Â Now Maria did not like her potatoes, but I thought they were really good.
Our total bill came to $39 dollars roughly, as we also got a white chocolate, macadamia, cranberry, oatmeal cookie. Â The place is clean and beautiful. Â The service is super friendly. Â We did not think it was expensive at all. Â And we will be back, especially if we are in the Orland Park area.
I'm no coffee expert. Today, for instance, I'm taking my coffee 'creamer only' because the coffee stopped dripping down about 10 drops in.
I know there's a fix for that, and I'm pretty sure it involves ammonia or something like that but I gotta be real, it's not my coffee machine and the person who owns it doesn't know I'm the last one who tried to use it, so I'm just gonna dump the brown junk and pretend like I never touched the damn thing.
Anyway, I might not have high coffee standards, but that doesn't mean I'm not aware of my low-class caffeine habit. I do know good java when I have one, I'm just willing to settle for whatever dirt I can make filter through the upper basket thingy.
...but back to my BBC experience...
So on another brutal, multi-day sleepless bender, I found myself in the south suburbs and hardly having to rack my brain for coffice options so I could round out the work week strong... like bull... at Blissful Banana. So I grab my girls Dana G, Emily B, and Kathleen M and we ride on out to this sprawling supplier of sweets and sips.
We walk in at about 1:30 and the place is bumpin' bumpin and offering the perfect cuppa iced mocha something something with hazelnut boost and you're damn right I opted for the whipped cream, too. Sweet serenity.
I was pleased with the pleasantly paired down menu, because I was waaay too tired to flip through an entire book of options. DG and I split a veggie sandwich buttered to perfection and kept it's freshness into the day after when I woke up from my sleep coma and finished it. Service was not only warm and friendly, but cute as heck, too. One server girl was even rocking a super cute pair of banana earrings. Girl, I like yo flair!
While I don't live anywhere near Blissful Banana, I do know that I'll be back, and I hope it'll be on reg with that very same crew.
I am so glad we finally have a truly healthy and organic restaurant in the south suburbs. Â We went for dinner with a group of adults and kids and everyone walked away happy. (Especially those who got the Banana Bliss. More on that in a bit).
Great Things...
~ Service was the perfect balance of friendly and professional. Very informed and helpful in answering questions and adapting orders.
~ Every sandwich comes with a salad, and not one of those tasteless iceburg ones. This was a good mix of lettuces with Parmesan, tomatoes, and balsamic vinaigrette.
~ Their menu is very adaptable. Different dishes can come as salads, wraps, sandwiches, and/or gluten-free. We had the Angel-Lea Salad and then the Angel-Lea Wrap at the Taste of Orland. Both were equally delicious!
~ They do not sacrifice flavor for health in their dishes, because you get both!
~ BANANA BLISS... wow. Its like ice cream, but its made with only bananas. I asked the waitress probably three times, because I couldn't believe it. It comes with toppings too (their fudge is only cocoa and fruit juice - no sugar or dairy!), but even on its own, wow. You can't leave without dessert!
~ Free WIFI
Room for Improvement...
~ It was quite loud. The openness of the front room combined with the hardwood floors and blender for coffee drinks made it difficult to hear once in a while. But there is a back room that seemed more intimate when I peeked back there.
~ While we were eating there, a manager or owner was spread out working at one of the tables with papers, a laptop, cell phone, etc... This is a pet peeve of mine in restaurants. It didn't affect the taste of the food, of course, but when there is an office in the restaurant, it seemed unprofessional to be working in the middle of the dining room.
~ I would LOVE outdoor seating!
~ I would LOVE a bigger breakfast menu!
But really, those things that could be "improved" are FAR outweighed by the awesomeness of the food.
Food was decent. I did a carryout. I had the roast beef sandwich - aww it was "ok but nothing i would run back for" Â Chicken soup was good but carry out portion was super small. Â I think the prices are high for what you get. Â However dining in may be different. I probably will go back to dine inside but I won't rush there. I think wonderful though for people who are non - meat eaters.
Review Source:GREAT place! Went there today with my cousin. We both had different coffees- so good. They have a variety of milk, including soy, so that's a nice non-dairy option. They also have a small gluten-free menu. Salads, sandwiches, etc. We both got different salads and they were both super yummy. Lastly, the service was very efficient and the staff was really friendly. Highly recommend you try this place! Great healthy options :) Definitely will return soon.
Review Source:This is a cute, clean, friendly place in Orland with delicious and healthy food options. Â When I was visiting from Seattle recently, my mom and I came here after shopping at Orland Mall. Â A friend had recommended Blissful Banana to her, and I had seen the positive yelp reviews as well. Â It's very easy to get to from La Grange, and worth the trip. Â I think it can be a little difficult to find fresh, healthy food in the southwest suburbs-- at an independent business, no less-- so this place is a really great option! Â Food and drinks can be ordered "to go" at the counter, or you can sit down with a menu and the staff will wait your table.
I had the Vegalone Veggie sandwich, which was seriously large but so totally delicious I finished the whole thing (and I'd do it again)! Â It came with a nice salad as well. Â This was one of a few vegetarian lunch options; they also had a black bean burger, I think. Â Other options included chicken panini, various sandwiches and salads. Â They serve coffee drinks and pastries, all of which looked fantastic but I did not try. Â Our waitress-- who was very nice and attentive-- brought us samples of the frozen banana treat. Â My mom and I both loved it and, had we not eaten our giant veggie sandwiches, definitely would have ordered a serving with one of the many topping options (homemade berry sauce sounded perfect to me).
As a former resident of the southwest suburbs, I really recommend this place! Â Blissful Banana has some unique offerings: things you probably won't find elsewhere in the 'burbs (like tasty frozen banana dessert). Â The cafe is in a large storefront-- where Mojoe's used to be-- and it has been beautifully redecorated. Â Sadly, it seemed quite empty during our visit. Â So check it out! Â They deserve your business!
A friendly cafe that makes a sincere effort to buy local and delight us with good food made with fresh ingredients is already a winner in my book.
Blissful banana certainly operates by this motto. The menu is simple and limited but yet it's a good spot for breakfast or lunch.
I had a panini which was excellent and I appreciated the fact it was served with healthy organic greens as a side and not oily fries or chips. That side salad was outstanding by the way with really flavorful grated Parmesan, cherry tomatoes and a perfect vinaigrette.
The most awesome part is probably the idea of making a healthier version of ice cream based on frozen banana. Quite a treat I must say. The gorilla coffee (frozen banana, coffee, mocha) was excellent.
In a nutshell, good service, good food, excellent fresh local and organic ingredients, and interesting treats.
Worth checking out and a good place to stop by for breakfast or lunch.
My wife and I have been here a couple of times now and the food is really healthy and in spite of that, I really like it.
No fries, no chips and no pop.
And I really like it anyway.
I have tried two different sandwiches and they were both really good and came with a healthy side salad which was actually tasty. Â I also tried their frozen banana treat and it is great. Â I have had their coffee and enjoyed it and last time I had been so darn good I ended the meal with an apple fritter which was outstanding.
Don't let the review talking about the fresh healthy food scare you, it is good food for a guy who usually doesn't do healthy. Â Heck maybe I will get on this healthy bandwagon.
This place is adorable. My dad and I went here for a change of pace. I'd seen the place several times when I visited home but never stopped in. It was great. The food was well priced and tasty (we shared a breakfast sandwich with turkey bacon and egg) and the espresso drinks well made.
The waitress even gave us a sample of their frozen banana shake, which was really yummy. Â It's nice that Orland finally has a restaurant that's not a chain - or a Starbucks, or in the food court.
I'm trying to convince my parents to make it a regular stop when they go out to eat.
I decided to stop in before work one morning, thinking surely, I'll just get a tea and get outta there. What's the hoopla anyways?
The hoopla is the modern, but not obnoxious atmosphere, the affordable prices, the DELICIOUS banana smoothie sample I was served, and the great location.
The tea, which I added a few pumps of pomegranate to, and the chocolate chip scones were just amazingly good. The scones were so buttery and I could tell they used a good quality sugar in them. Great place! Stop in one day!
Blissful indeed! Â And it was me who was feeling the bliss to find such a perfect spot in Orland Park where almost everything is a chain.
The space is huge, clean and bright. Â Everyone who worked here was friendly and cheerful to us as we walked in. Â We were brand new to this terrific spot so we got a sample of their frozen banana mixture which tastes like yogurt. Â We didn't have any of those dessert treats but I sure plan on next time and believe me, there will be a next time. Â Our server was super patient with us, even brought me a sample of their sliced turkey. Â
I ended up ordering the Henhouse which was delicious - warm chicken with cheese and spinach instead of lettuce. Â I thought it was just a fabulous idea to add that spinach. Â It was pressed just enough to get it warm and crispy but not to meld into one unit as some places do. Â The iced tea was perfect and my dessert vanilla latte even better.
Blissful sigh of contentment that there exists such a spot of healthy food plus amazing coffee two blocks from Orland Mall.
I can't wait to return - I need to get my bliss on!
Excellent café menu with delicious sandwiches, wraps, salads, sweets and coffee blends, which is a pleasant surprise for this area. The Blissful Banana is located in a strip mall just south of Orland Park mall on 94th Ave next to a Mario Tricoci. There is plenty of parking in the area and the front is clean and easy to spot. The interior is very large and stretches into a back lounge room with wood flooring and a cozy cafe/restaurant look and feel. There is no hostess stand which was quite odd to me as there is a large space to the left of the door that would be perfect for a hostess stand. The service counter is very cool and inviting with a lot of dark woods and glass that separates customers from staff. The main dining area is wide open and has incredible promise but appears to be missing something like plants or additional pictures. Cannot put my finger on it but it seems like a work in progress.
We were going to the Sox game and wanted some take out sandwiches and something sweet for the 5th inning. The place had a decent crowd but the employees seemed to have poor direction and appeared as disjointed as the gaps in the decor. The lady at the counter was very friendly and had a good handle on the menu. My wife ordered a tuna salad wrap and I had a chicken Panini with cashew pesto. Both sandwiches came with a side salad that was served with a balsamic reduction. We threw in a brownie and watched the action while we waited for our order.
Our order arrived and we had everything neatly packed away in a bag and when we arrived at the Cell we were treated to a great meal. The food was excellent. My wife raved about her wrap and my Panini was incredible. The salad was filled with quality ingredients all the way around. The ingredients here come advertised as all natural and locally sourced but the execution was spot on. The brownie was a killer! We will be back to try the frozen banana! I hope that management can work out some odd quirks that we noticed but all in all we were impressed by the food and friendly staff!
Stopped in at Blissful Banana yesterday with my mom, sister and nephew. My sister had been there before and raved about it. Â I remember when the space was Mo Joes and it looks so different! It's huge, clean and modern. We were the only ones there at 5:30pm which made me sad because I already knew I was going to love this cafe.
The owner greeted us and chatted for a bit.  Her staff was friendly  and able to answer all our questions about the menu. I got the Danny  I-ello sandwich which is a tomato, mozzarella, basil and chicken sandwich on focaccia.  The chicken was perfectly grilled.  The mozzarella was fresh and sucked up all the delicious balsamic vinegar.  The side salad was crisp with cherry tomatoes and shredded parmesan.
My mom got the pasta of the day which was a chicken penne pasta with vodka sauce. Â The sauce needed a little salt and pepper, but was exactly what my mom had a taste for.
We ordered a grilled cheese for my 14 month old nephew. Â He devoured the first half of is sandwich and the adults ate the rest of it. Â The white cheddar they use makes me order off the kiddie menu next time!
The portions are perfect.  You can eat everything on your plate and feel comfortably full.  It definitely allows you to leave room for their frozen banana treat.  The blissful banana is a smooth, creamy banana ice cream made from...bananas.  The owner gave us all samples to start our  meal, but the kiddie meal also come with a nice size serving.  Since my nephew begged to eat all the samples, we split his larger size banana ice cream.  We ordered it with the homemade chocolate sauce.  The sauce compliments the bananas so well.  It's not too sweet, but gooey and rich.
By the time we finished our meal the front dining room had filled up nicely. Â I hope more people go check out this great new cafe.
Just ate dinner here tonight and it was so good. Â The staff was super friendly and the space is really nice. Â We tried a few different things from the menu and everything was AWESOME. Â I had my two young kids with me and there were healthy choices even for them on the menu - loved it! Â We will definately be back!
Review Source:After hearing good reviews from friends, I came here for lunch the other day. It was very enjoyable. We were seated right away and, since it was our first time, we were given a small dish of their signature frozen banana. It was delicious (and the only ingredient is banana!) I can only imagine how good it would be with toppings--yum!
I got the grilled veggie sandwich, which was very good. It came with a small side of spring salad--nice and fresh! Since having to go gluten free several months ago, it was a real treat to discover that they had gluten free rolls, so I got to enjoy one of my favorite sandwiches (and not have to eat just a salad --again!) yay!!! I will definitely be back!
Let me start off by saying, I truly hope this cafe stays around for a long, long time. They definitely deserve to. Stopped in around 11am for lunch with a friend today & was completely amazed at the set up! The interior is beautiful & the dining room extends into the back where there is a fireplace with lounge chairs spread around it. *For those of you familiar with the area, this used to be the first Mojoe's coffee house way back when.
After we sat at a booth, we ordered the special salad:mixed greens w/avocado, grilled chicken, grapefruit & a citrus vinaigrette. Sounded fresh & perfect for the unseasonal heat we Chicagoians are experiencing. Unfortunately, the owner came to our table to let us know her citrus supplier who was supposed to arrive there at 7am had yet to show up so she couldn't make us the salad. This was not a problem as the entire menu sounded amazing! I ended up get the Taco salad & was NOT disappointed. It was huge & fresh & totally filling. I also ordered a cup of the soup special...chicken, white beans, & spinach which my daughter & friend claimed as theirs.
(My friend ordered the Alyssa (?): the Chicken Caesar wrap. She loved it.)
My 2 year old daughter had the V.I.C.: Nutella, banana, & PB grilled on whole grain white bread. This was amazing & she made a perfect mess while enjoying it immensely!! For $4.95 it came with an apple juice & a giant serving of their signature Banana Bliss w/any topping. *This stuff is incredible! They offer free samples when you first arrive.
Everyone was very helpful & didn't mind the mess my daughter made with her melting nutella sammie. In fact, one lady came over with extra napkins & helped drape them across my daughters dress to keep it clean!
Everyone needs to tell their friends about this place & show their support for a local business. I'll be bringing my mom back there tomorrow!
We just returned from our first trip to the Blissful Banana Cafe and it was fantastic! We had a few different things on the menu and they were all excellent!
Henhouse Panini- This sandwich was huge, but we ate most of it because it was so delicious. The bread was amazing. It had excellent flavor and was perfectly crispy. The chicken in the sandwich had excellent spices and was nice and moist. The sandwich came with a side salad with balsalmic vinegarette. The greens were actual greens not cheap iceberg lettuce with small pieces of romaine thrown in to make it look healthy.
Arnold's Delight- This sandwich had large pieces of chicken breast that were perfectly grilled without being dry. The brushetta topping, grilled red pepper, and cheese were perfect toppings. The bread was a hoagie style roll, which is a bit too much bread for me. I took off the top piece and it was perfect. This came with the same delicious salad.
Banana Bliss- The waitress came around and gave us a free sample while we were waiting for our food and after the first bite I knew I would be having dessert. They take frozen bananas and put them through a juices so they have a frozen yogurt texture. They have the right amount of sweetness to be eaten alone, but there is this amazing Natural Fudge sauce that I recommend. When I ordered my dessert, I asked for a small taste of the peanut butter sauce. It tasted like liquid peanut butter and when I added it to my Banana bliss with fudge sauce it made an amazing dessert combination!
I enjoyed this place and want to go back as soon as possible so I can try all of the other paninis on the menu and eat more banana bliss!
I am  ecstatic to have a restaurant with healthy options (and Metropolis Coffee) that is so close to home.
Stopped by for a quick takeout lunch.
NY Steak sandwich (forget the exact name). Â - Â This thing was suburb! Â Very tender cuts of beef and the perfect portions of red pepper, cheese, and horseraddish mayo. Â Bread was very soft with a nice light crispy outside. Â This came with the side salad with vinnegrette. Â Plenty of flavor.
Chocolate Chip Cookie - Probably the biggest I've ever had. Â Texture was great as it it was soft and fresh but a little crispy outside to it. Â Heavy on the chocolate side, only wish I had a cup of milk to go with it.
Bannana Bliss - I was offered a sample and came back later to treat the 4 guys at Orland Park HobbyTown to a treat :). Â We all loved it. Â Everyone needs to try this. Â It's not bannana flavored ice cream or yogurt. Â It's is frozen banana put through a machine to make it soft serve. Â We were all suprised how good this was without needing to load it up with sweets. Â Had the natural fudge with it and am amazed something so good for you tastes so good at the same time.
We just tried the Blissful Banana Cafe today after waiting for it to open. Â I was NOT disappointed and am so happy that this gem is in the neighborhood. Â First of all, it's a cafe/restaurant that serves Metropolis coffee, features Labriola bread and get this, has delicious locally sustained produce and organic food items on their menu. Â Yes, that's a fairly new concept for this area and I'm elated that this wonderful restaurant/cafe is open. Â It did not let me down and it's only been open for one day.
I ordered the Danny-I-Ello chicken breast sandwich and it was exceptionally good! Â It was a tender and juicy chicken breast with sweet tomatoes, a thick slice of buffalo mozzarella, basil and balsamic vingarette. Â It came with a nice side salad with fresh and tender greens with some shaved parmesan and croutons. Â Well, my taste buds were having a party and I was already thinking about when I was coming back to try everything else. Â My daughter had the chicken tortilla soup and it was freshly made and delish! Â She devoured it and so did I . Â
The cafe is a full service restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner until 7 pm. Â There are two large dining areas in the front and one in back. Â The backroom has a large fireplace and library area. Â It is very comfy and my daughter made herself at home with the kid's book selection. Â I could see myself coming here for coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner since I just adored the casual and comfy space and the food. Â
I was curious about the banana bliss dessert - hence the name Blissful Banana Cafe. Â The server brought us a sample of this delectable and ALL NATURAL DESSERT. Â It is a frozen whipped banana (like a custard consistency) and you pick your toppings. Â The chocolate sauce is made of pureed pineapple, dutch cocoa and some other natural ingredients and I was completely blown away! Â I could eat this stuff anyday over ice cream! Â The owner told me that nothing in their food has artificial flavors or preservatives and I almost hugged her from across the counter. Â Thank you Blissful Banana! Â I'm just loving your place.
