I was so very surprised about this place. The sushi was great, it wasn't crazy busy at all.
Even better was when I ordered take out and was waiting inside, they gave me a glass of water and complementary edamame, which was totally unexpected.
It is very pretty inside and would be perfect for a date.
Only complaint would be that the spicy tuna rolls were a bit on the small end.
Dinner with a group of friends on a Saturday evening. Â We called ahead to reserve a table.
+ We came 5 mins before our reservation time and we were seated right away.
+ Decor/ambiance was very nice. Â Subdued lighting, conversation friendly. Â Think PF Chang's.
+ Complementary edamame (Thanks!)
+ We ordered different kinds of sushi. Â Plating/food presentation was impressive.
+ Sushi were ok. Â Our number #1 choice is still RAKU SUSHI in NAPERVILLE. Â
+ Bus boy was on top of things when it came to refilling our water and taking away finished plates.
+ Free and ample parking
- For a suburban sushi place in a strip mall, prices were expensive.
- Poor service. Â Our waitress took our order and served our food. Â After which, she never came back to check on us and never came by to refill our drinks. Â I asked for a fork with which to eat the fried rice. Â She came back with *gasp!* a PLASTIC FORK! Â Really? Â Your fancy dancy restaurant could not afford real utensils? Â She said she was going to come back with a "real fork" and never did. Â
Bottom line:
+ Great decor/ambiance
+ Ok sushi
+ Expensive sushi
- POOR service. Â This is the reason why I would not go back. Â
We recommend you check out RAKU SUSHI in NAPERVILLE instead. Â Of the many sushi places we've been to (in the city, in the north burbs, in the south burbs, etc), RAKU SUSHI is still our #1 pick!
