I have been here a couple of times and there really is nothing to talk about. The decor is painted landmarks from the Beverly, Palos area. I guess this is where everyone migrated to from the hood? Lots of wood in the place, looks expensive. The food is just o.k. I had a burger and the cheese wasn't melted andthe bun was dry. The fries kinda sucked. I probably would have enjoyed the food a little more if it wasn't so smokey. I can't wait for the new year. Again with the off brand beers? We don't have Blue Moon but we have something just like it. Not quite. And the crowd is 8 to 1 guys. I think it's a pick-up joint  for m2m because I have seen it on craigslist quite a few times. Not a big deal for me and I'm a regular Joe. Need to jack-up the food and not worry about what the place looks like. It's a southside bar.
Review Source:Murphy's is a decent bite of food not far from the La Grange/I-80 turn-off. They offer a bit of everything. Meats are the main entree. Their chicken tenders are decent but try them on the appetizer platter which is VERY GOOD and comes with fried vegetables, chicken wings, cheesy potato skins and more that will fill you up.
And about the chicken wings... they are utterly irritating to eat but they are SOOO good. I'm more of a crispy-fried wing guy but the sauce-soaked ones at Murphy's make Buffalo Wild Wings look like amateurs. The terryaki ones are the best.
I've found the staff to be very friendly on my five or so visits. I'm not sure about the steaks so I can't agree/disagree with what Drew said but I guess it's possible. Either way, it's worth a shot.
Hey Drew, try Syl's in Rockdale. You might have to shell out a few more bucks but it's worth it, brother.
I think it's a bit of a stretch calling Murphy's a 'steakhouse'. Â They do have steaks on their menu, but otherwise the menu is very very limited. Â Our waitress wasn't really familiar with the menu - I don't think it was her fault, as she struck me as someone that wasn't normally a waitress. Â The food was just ok, they seem to have a decent selection of beer. Â I'd probably say this is a good place for a few drinks after work, but I'd likely go somewhere else for a meal - I've got no good reason for this other than I just don't see a place like this serving anything better than 'Ponderosa' - quality meat.
