Tribes is still one of our favorite places but have to report that as a charcuterie fan I am disappointed. Â For other artisanal meat and cheese fans out there please note that the new 2013 menu broke out meats and cheeses as separate offerings and now the meat and cheese combo is $24, up from $14 & IMHO lacks a $10 increase in both quality or quantity. Â This won't keep me away but I will have to find a new favorite on the updated menu or maybe just go for the outstanding craft beer selection.
Review Source:Tribes has been a welcome addition to the southwest side. Â 45 taps of beer, which skews heavily towards IPA's, so if you're a typical beer geek, you will find something you like. Â The food menu features what I would call "foodie" pub food (Elk burgers, Antelope bratwurst, to name a couple) -- more interesting than typical fare, albeit with a bit pricier tag. Â Worth it if you're up for something different.
Service is usually great, but then I'm here every week and know my server, so I could be a little biased. :-) Â If they could double the size of this place, I'd give them 5 stars, but they are stuck between a couple of neighbors that have staying power, so that isn't likely to happen. Â So, get here early on weekends, or go late on Tuesdays like I do. Â Or, hit the Tinley Park location, which is twice the size!
