Popped in for a late bite last night, and was very pleased with the whole experience. Â They had a nice selection of beer, craft and otherwise, to choose from which is a big plus.
I know it's difficult to run a small tavern in Frankfort, due to there being low population of younger people in town. Â We were here when it was Katie Maes, K T Maes, or something some time ago and the food was good there also. Â With the nice bar, great outdoor seating, and lots of tv's, I'm happy to see this nice business keeping up. Â
We had an order of the buffalo wings, which were very good, the meat almost fell off the bone, and the sauce was very nice. Â My wife had the portobello mushroom burger, which she liked very much, and I had the rover burger that had a fried egg on top. Â The messy burgers always taste the best. Â
To Andrea, Reuben's, as you probably know are hit and miss.  We've had good and bad Reuben's at the same place before.  The restaurant is at the mercy of the cut of meat it gets, combined with a mistake or two by the kitchen, and you could end up with a lousy sandwich.
I like this place for it's food and atmosphere and hope they keep up the good work.  The prices are very reasonable, and service at the bar was perfect.
Noticed today that The Wild Rover donated a nice gift certificate to a Cause for Paws fundraiser today. Â Stay classy Wild Rover!
Also, I forgot to add, that their potato chips are made in house, along with their tortilla chips. Â When you order potato chips, they ask how you want them seasoned. Â I had the Cajun seasoning, there are others but I can't remember the choices. Â I don't know of any place around that does this, which makes this place stand out so much.
The wife and I came here for lunch on a weekday after seeing an article in the local paper about this place. The article really made this place sound like the best thing that ever happened- They must have payed  someone to write it...
They have lunch specials advertised, so I figured there would be locals and people on their breaks there for a meal. It ended up being two regulars at the bar at noon on a tuesday. It was kind of dark, awkward, and a little depressing.
I thought the beer selection was nothing special. They claim to have the biggest selection in Frankfort. Either Frankfort is the black hole of beer, or I'm calling BS on that claim.
The bartender suggested a burger over the Reuben, saying they have great burgers. Well, the burger pretty much sucked. It tasted how old meat smells, if you could imagine that? Way overcooked too. The fries were fresh cut, but pretty much raw.
The female bartender was very friendly, easy on the eyes, and did a great job. Another bigger guy behind the bar was little odd. He had no problem spouting out profanity right near us the whole time. Don't get me wrong, I can sound like a drunken sailor now and then, but this was just a wrong first impression. There was no professionalism from this guy.
Damn I had two stars checked, but after writing this, I guess it's one star.
Oh, and don't get too excited...Those pictures currently on the website are NOT pictures of this bar.
