I realize this is Childress and I didn't have high expectations for this place, but I was still not impressed.

The outside of the restaurant is pretty rough.  Inside is a little better, but still old.  We showed up at 4:45, which we thought would mean all the food would be fresh, but there were only a few other people eating and almost all of the steam table trays were picked through with half a tray of food that had been sitting around for a good while.  Not very appetizing.  I found out they open at 10am, so who knows how long the food had been sitting around.  I finally found a few things that looked halfway decent and they didn't taste too bad, but you shouldn't have to circle a buffet multiple times before getting the courage to scoop something onto your plate.  You should want to try a bunch of things and be excited!

    Service was friendly.

Like Kristen, I was looking for something that resembled healthy for dinner.   I read her review and rolled into the CB.   Luckily, she was right.   I found a nice little salad bar, a good selection of dinner items, and I was fully satisfied without blowing the calories too much.   Def the best option in Childress for a healthy dinner.   Try this place or Childress Bakery's Weight Watcher lunch special for a healthy lunch.

I gave it 4 stars because some of the dishes had sat there a bit too long when I came in, but they were quickly replacing them.   Go around 6pm for dinner.

If you read my other reviews of restaurants in Childress, you'll quickly realize that I am not the biggest fan of eateries here.  That having been said, this is my favorite restaurant in town.  The food is consistent.  I can get in and out quickly.  There is actually food that has not been deep-fried.  I can get in and out under $10.  Odd thing about this Chinese restaurant - they serve chicken strips.  Strikes me as funny every time.  My favorite things here are the cream cheese wontons and the egg drop soup (with a dash of rooster sauce - the red sauce in the bottle with the rooster on it).  You can't go wrong with these two items on the buffet.  Oh, and the buffet often has lots of veggies too!  One other good thing is that if you have a big group, it is easy to get seats together and it is easy to pay separately.
