Most of the time, Â I'm happy with this Chipotle. Unlike some Chipotle's, the ingredients taste consistently fresh and flavorful. Also, the food is a good temperature which I've found is often not the case. I'm not saying this is the case for everyone but it has been my experience.
NOW...
Let me preface this by saying that I ate at Chipotle at 9:35 on July 27th. With the closing time being 10 pm, I didn't expect the food to be top notch. I was in a hurry and just needed a quick meal.
The real problem was the employees. I know they were tired but it was 9:35. I was just planning to grab a quick order and leave. (I know it sucks to stay late so I wanted to get-in and get-out asap.) I figured it wouldn't be a problem because they hadn't even started cleaning.
My goodness! I was sure wrong.
The entire staff acted like I was the biggest problem on earth. From Rachel the cashier throwing my money back to me to the guys in back rolling their eyes at me, the entire staff was..to be honest...disgraceful. If I was their boss, I would warn all of the to either clean up their acts or be fired. I've never been treated with so much disrespect at a restaurant. I don't expect perfection from anyone and I will never fault someone for having a bad night but unfortunately this was too over the top not to address. If I were the owner, I would warn them to either clean up their act or risk being fired.
That said, I will still give them another chance. People deserve second chances and restaurants are staffed by people. Right?! :) So, I hope things get better in hurry.
Where has all the flavor gone?
Service is great (the Campbell location). This was a nice surprise, since the other locations I have been to in other states ALWAYS have illegals hired that can't speak any English, and makes for a frustrating experience. Saved this place from a 1-star rating.
Ambiance is alright, kinda reminded me of a dirty club or a warehouse. Metal chairs and tables, cold concrete floor, yuppies all around.
Mexican food is supposed to be very spicy and flavorful. Chipotle is the most bland food you ever ever had in your life, lacking much flavor. And missing one important ingredient found in all Mexican food establishments.... no ground beef!!! Â Now that I think about it, I don't recall if they had queso or not. Â I have had breakfast at other Chipotles out of state, and it was alright, better than the lunch. Â Does this location have breakfast? Â Major disappointment. Which leads me to their menu. Menu is very devoid. But I guess that is because they don't have much in terms of ingredients. I get that it is supposed to mimic a sub shop type restaurant, but for Mexican food, it doesn't cut it. Â
Overall, a very lacking restaurant. If you want flavor and variety, Taco Bell or hell even Qdoba(by a hair) beat out Chipotle.
I live in nearby Joplin where we do not have a Chipotle, unfortunately! Â We do have Moe's, which I like a LOT...but I really prefer the chicken and the rice at Chipotle. Â It's delicious. Â I am not sure what they do to their rice, but it sort of tastes like it has cilantro in it. Â Yum! Â I definitely recommend this place. Â It has a cute funky vibe and is the perfect lunch spot if you are in Springfield or en route to Branson.
