Chronic Town is so....whats the right word....cool.
With great ventilation, tons of places to sit, nice wooden tables and comfortable pillows to lounge on, an impressive CD and Vinyl collection, and great local music, Chronic Town is the perfect place to spend some time. Whether you stop in during the day to get some studying in before class, or at night to smoke a little houkah and listen to some live music, Chronic Town is a great place to chill with friends and have a relaxingly (if thats even a word??) great time.
I like to have a warm beverage with my hookah, and i thoroughly recommend their HOT APPLE CIDER. Thats right, they have wonderful hot apple cider, various teas, coffee, espresso drinks, and more.
Very cool place. Can't say enough good things about it.
Gotta be honest...I hate smoke...However I love this place! It's well ventilated and have an awesome collection of LP's and CD's. Â The staff is great and if you can't find what you want there, they will order and hold it for you. They held 3 LP's for me for 2 weeks one time. Overall the vibe is great. So if you like water pipe, you'll feel and if you don't you will STILL FEEL welcome.
Review Source:i liked it better when it was tall shiva.
the ambiance is nice. relaxed and quiet. the wooden benches kind of suck. not very comfortable, even with the provided cushions. still, the hookah is good, with many flavors to choose from. a bit expensive, but what can you do? a great alternative night time option if you don't drink r are too young to drink.
Great place for me to chill, zone out, and even study. I have a good time whether I'm with a group of people or whether I'm by myself. I like the music selection played and it's also a great place for one to just drink coffee, smoke from the magic pipe, and ponder the meaning of life.
Review Source:Like to pay prof's? Â Visit Chronic Town. Â
The staff wasn't knowledgeable about hookah's and didn't help much when I was trying to find some specific things to buy. Â The place is quiet and the prices are okay, not cheap but average.
If you don't own a hookah and wanna try something different, it's a one stop shop. Â I don't recommend buying from these guys, go online and get better prices and variety.
Hookah Lounge.
Really nothing else to say.
It's a chill place, come here, kick back, relax and smoke some hookah.
It's the only one I know of at least of this size. Grasshopper Gift has one but I recall it being a couch, and maybe Jamaica Junction but this is the only true dedicated lounge.
The hookah is great and it's a chill place. Nothing else to ask for.
The best place to head to when u just need to chill to some amazing music and some really fun really really sweet people! I'm in major serious love with this place! Make sure u get their coffee, their tea selection is great as well. Â But nothing beats the amount of flavors of hookah they have..my fav so far is a blackberry and blueberry combination, but seriously anything shayna mixes up is still sooo good! I'll be there as soon as I can find anther 11 bucks for their premium hookah, the xtra few bucks is worth it!
Review Source:Had the pleasure of playin here a few months back. The staff are so so so so so nice and charming. The owners treat the customers like gold. The Hookah was awesome, the staff had some pretty good mixing suggestions. They have a fully working SIMPSONS ARCADE GAME and a Star Trek pinball game! Stage and sound are great too! They also sell "paraphernalia" and some New vinyl records! OH yeah! the ambience is amazing! furniture handmade from wood, tons of pillows, big gargoyles when you walk in with little green lights that shine on you and make you look like the end of the "sledgehammer" video!
Review Source:I've been here a lot since this is the only place one of my friends will go to, and I'm a fan! Â It's a great place to kick back and talk with friends. Â They have benches you can sit on, or you can get some large pillows and sit on the ground. Â It's got a great vibe and they have good music. Â There's a wide selection of hookah flavors and kinds of tea too. Â The workers are chill too.
Review Source:I came hear not knowing what Chronic Town is about. I can say I'm glad that I came here. The atmosphere is cool and laid back there are different types of seating all through here such as floor seating, high seats, tables and a nice bar.
The service is good as they were really busy but there was one waiter that went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated.
Large assortment of shisha and tea. I had the minty premium lemonade which was by far the best shisha I've ever had.
Prices were good but everything in State College. Music is also chill and laid back.
I would have went here for a 2nd time if there wasn't so much for me to explore but I will definitely come back next time I'm in State College.
Best place in State College to go to get some work done or meet with friends without alcohol - The new Chronic Town is certainly more than a hookah lounge with a coffee machine(They in face have a coffee machine, coffee grinder, espresso machine, a wide tea selection, flavor syrups, and sugar-based coke products in glass bottles). The hookahs here are always well-made and while they don't tend to your coal, they will replace it if it needs to be replaced. The music is always good and there are always great selections in the small vinyl area. Also there and a handful of arcade games and a pinball machine if it's your thing.
As a music venue it is decent - the sound guy isn't always the best and the support poles can hinder the view if you don't want to be right next to the stage, and the acts are usually of the indie pop variety. It's definitely an excellent place to see a cheap show if there is one going on. The lighting is also great and the so is the ventilation system. If you aren't smoking, you can't tell it's a hookah lounge.
By the way - I believe regular is al waha, premium is romman
I'll say this should be about 3.5 stars.
While I haven't been to Chronic Town in about a year and a half (there was a fire while I was studying abroad, and I never got a chance to visit when it reopened), I do have quite a few good memories of it. Basically, Chronic Town is a hookah lounge. It may pretend to be a cafe as well, but really it's just a hookah lounge with a coffee machine. If you happen to be looking for a nice place to relax with some friends, this is a great place to go. I recall the prices being quite reasonable. Sometimes on weekend nights, it can get a bit packed, but there's usually some spot to be found. The seating ranges from couches to chairs to pillows. It's a really relaxed, fun atmosphere. The lighting is a bit low at night to give it that common lounge atmosphere. I can't think of anywhere else to go in State College that would provide a similar experience.
Occasionally, Chronic Town also sponsors concerts. I went to two there which I really enjoyed. It's a bit of an odd concert venue, but with the bands I saw, it worked well. I'm assuming the new Chronic Town is much the same as the old one. I'm glad it reopened as it really is the only place of its kind in town.
