Levels is one of the best clubs in town, assuming you come on a night where there's a crowd.
When I'm looking for a club, I want good music, good drinks at a good price, and a big raucous crowd. Levels has, in my opinion, the best DJs in town, and they keep the sound system at a level where it's easy to dance but you don't feel like you're going deaf. The every-night drink specials are pretty solid, with $3 Long Island's and $3 Vodka Redbulls, though I would like some variety on the nightly specials. Having three bars split between the floors means you can probably get your order in quickly, and get back to the dance floor. Speaking of, the layout is great. The top floor is relatively quiet, and the view of the dance floor gets you hyped to go down and let loose. The bottom floor is quiet enough to hold a conversation.
The only problem I've noticed is the crowd. Maybe it's just the nights I've shown up, but it seems to be inexplicably empty a lot. I'm curious what nights are their busiest, because on the nights where the line runs out the door, I've had a great time.
My friends and I have had great experiences every time we go to Levels.
In addition to being a nightclub, they also host concerts throughout the month. Â I saw Dada Life, Chuckie and Bingo Players there.
They have a decent beer selection and can make almost any drink you can think of. Â My friend from New York is a bartender and she said they were on their A-game when it came to drinks. (and she's hard to please)
I like the fact that they play different genres of music on different nights. Â I went last week for Texas Thursdays and was blown away by their transformation into hosting a country music night. Â They had decorations, line dancing lessons and free food. It was a blast.
They told us about their expansion plans into the building next door. Â When they're done, they'll be able to host multiple genres of music at the same time in three different areas of the club and huge bands that are on national tours. Can't wait!!!
They just opened in March of last year and they've quickly become our favorite place to go in State College. Â Most of the other clubs here are corny, so it's refreshing to see nice people bringing quality entertainment to Penn State.
