If you are wanting a quiet place to sit back in a chair and relax with a cigar this is the place to do it. Â Not being a much of a cigar person I found the staff to be very helpful at selecting something that would fit my taste. Â I wish I could give more insight to the cigar room, but after going there with a friend who knows more about the stuff he called it "not too shabby". Â For Denton I would call it excellent. Â They even offer humidors for those who want to rent them.
The place is pretty nice in the inside, and the outside compliments the inside as well. Â Fire pits lit in the winter help keep us warm and in the summer there are plenty of fans. Â The inside has a small stage for bands and a small bar you can cozy up to if you wish. Â The selection of beers has grown since I've first been and is becoming quite good. Â The biggest disappointment and what holds me from coming more often is there is no liquor. Â I would give anything for a glass of bourbon and a cigar!
While this place has a lot to offer it seems like it is missing something and I don't mean the liquor....but yes it's missing that to!  While I am there I tend to get bored and want to move on.  Even with the comfortable décor I want to leave as soon as my cigar is done and hit the next bar.  Even if they had liquor in not sure this would cure that.  However if you're looking to grab a cigar and a beer, maybe some light conversation with the bar staff you will find this place fitting.
A stoogie, couple beers, and a relaxing night watching the Stanley Cup on the patio with a friend. Â That's all you need after a long day at work. Â BTW, mad props to the patio, can't wait to watch some football and turn on the fire pits this fall. Â On another note Josh has been real helpful, great to talk to, so I'm def. coming back... Â Also, you can bring your own food which is really cool..
Review Source:I have a differing opinion (besides the couple of reviews that are obvious Astroturf). I paid my first visit shortly before the Grand Opening and met the owner. He was curiously standoffish. Now I don't know, everybody else I know who has met him comes away with a good impression, but he was definitely very... terse? brusque? with me. If you're going to run a cigar store, you have to be a bit more affable than he was. And maybe a bit less "Cult of Personality" than the website and store seem to be.
Then there's the issue of charging a cover on Friday and Saturday nights. Look, it's cool that you want to have bands play. But the Grand Opening night featured a guy who was basically doing Frank Sinatra karaoke... hardly worth $10. A subsequent visit has had various other "inoffensive" performers and a cover charge of (usually) $5. You know when I pay $5 or $10 to see bands? At a rock venue (we have a lot of them in Denton) when it's a band I actually want to see, not someone providing background music. When restaurants had piano players, they didn't hit you up for money to pay them - it's a cost of doing business, not something you pass on to the customer. Not to mention these musical acts have nobody sitting there paying attention to them. Okay, maybe 1 or 2 people. But for the venue to charge a cover and then the musician to put a tip jar on stage? Really, you are beggaring the imagination there.
Then there's the selection of cigars. It's certainly the best for the surrounding 15-20 miles, but sadly it's not as good as it should be. There are several brands of cigars that are not included at all, and too many gimmicky brands around. Look, I know your sales rep is forcing you to take "My Uzi Weighs A Ton" cigars and the like, but come on, you can do better. This is not your first cigar store.
And then there's the service. Paying the cover at the door, assuming you want to come? Takes way too long. Opening a tab? Way too long. Ordering a beverage? You guessed it. Somehow in the months since this place opened, everything still goes at a snail's pace.
There are many good things to be said for the place - the patio is excellent, and the service is competent, if pokey. But over the last few weeks, I have either shown up (or called) and passed on hanging out there on a weekend night. I took a friend there and he's of the exact same opinion - not worth a cover charge. You are losing our business on multiple occasions by following this plan.
Great to have a cigar bar in Denton, good patio and selection of beers. Only reason not 5 stars is the $25 fee if you bring your own bottle in and you can't leave with it. I'd rather spend that money buying some of their sticks. Other cigar places around town either have liqueur or let you bring your own bottle if you purchase sticks from them.
Review Source:I visited Cigar Frog's the day after their soft opening night about three weeks ago
Cigar Frog's offers 400 something cigars, and plenty of beers and wines to go with. Definitely a good addition for Denton!
I am not a Cigar smoker, but I like the fact that this place has great in door air filtering system to keep it from being very smokey inside. And a great outdoor covered patio with lots of fire pits, ceiling fans and comfortable sitting for all to enjoy. Â BTW, I had great fun talking to the owners and staff. They were fun and personable.
Oh, I have been told by the staff at the Cigar Frog's that this new place will have Jazz music for some nights of the week. One more place for UNT jazz students and Denton musicians to tune up the horn.
This is Denton's first full service cigar bar and I like everything about it. Â The owner Joe and his wife Martha spared no expense in the remodeling of this former bank building. Â The old bank vault is now the humidor. Â The interior of the bar is decorated in dark woods and plush furniture. Â They also have a state of the art filtration system which keeps the bar reasonably non-smokey. Â There is also a very large patio with comfortable chairs and a gas fire pit for each table. Â They are bringing in live music on the weekends and have found musicians who are entertaining, but still allow their patrons to easily talk. Â They also have some snacks consisting primarily of chips and cheese plates. Â Their cigar selection is huge and the owners and managers are extremely knowledgeable about their selection. Â Not only do they offer the largest cigar selection I've seen anywhere in the Denton area, but they also carry the full line of cigar accessories such as lighters, ashtrays, humidors and pretty much anything else you'd ever need or want to help enhance your cigar smoking experience. Â They also carry a full line of pipes and pipe tobacco. Â The bar carries a wide selection of domestic and craft beers both in the bottle and on draft. Â I think they have about 100 different types of beer. Â If you're not in the mood for beer, they also have wine and port for sale. Â They don't sell any liquor, but for a $25 fee, you can bring your own bottle into Cigar Frogs. Â They also rent lockers in the humidor where customers (like me) can store their cigars and liquor, and if you rent a locker ($400 a year), they waive the $25 fee for bringing in your own liquor. Â If you rent a locker, you also get a 10% discount on all cigars and 15% discount on all boxes of cigars. Â The cigar, beer and wine prices are all reasonable, especially with the really nice environment you get to enjoy while you're drinking and smoking. Â The service is also terrific with everyone in the place being helpful, accommodating and friendly. Â The owners Joe and Martha always make the time to stop and speak to their customers. Â The managers Stacy and Mick are also extremely helpful and friendly and have hired a staff of competent employees. Â I don't have anything but nice things to say about Cigar Frogs and they are a great addition to the Denton scene. Â If you have any interest in cigars at all, go check out Cigar Frogs. Â Cigar Selection-5 stars, Service-5 stars, Value-5 stars, Ambiance-5 stars.
Review Source:Visited Cigar Frog's after much anticipation for a friend's birthday last night. It's a really neat find nestled in an unexpected corner of Denton. The whole point of the place is to RELAX, which is hard to come by these days in a city packed with neon-lit sports bars and hipster hang outs. This was a close tie between a 3 and 4 stars for me, but due to the very limited wine selection, I'm keeping it a 3 with room to grow.
The staff is what really stood out about the place. I believe the owner's wife was working the bar and was friendly as can be. Even an employee that was off that day was hanging out up at the bar and was extremely helpful to a cigar newb like me.
The interior has the feel of a Cuban beach house. There are lots of flowery arm chairs around large glass ashtrays set up in clusters in the main room- the perfect stage for some casual conversation. They've got a stage in the back corner that would nicely accommodate a little lounge singing.... but the patio's where it's at! Tons of tables set up with individual fire pits (propane flame with glass beads all fancy like) and blankets on each chair for the winter. Precious!! There were plenty of fans, too, so I think it'd still be comfortable in the Texas summer heat.
I perused the humidor as a cigar novice, but ended up finding something affordable and tasty to try. They seem to have a pretty wide selection based on other cigar shops I've visited with friends.
Drink pricing was really reasonable with a large selection of bottle beers and some great ones on tap, staff was amazing, and the ambiance is chill as hell. I'll be back and may just have to bump it up a star or two.
I hope the Denton crowd can keep this place alive... I think they may have hit a better-suited and older clientele in Corinth, but hopefully word will spread and they'll make the drive!
Side note: you will leave smelling like smoke. I only saw one or two cigarette smokers in there, but my hair and jacket reeked when I got home. But that's most bars here in Denton, so....
