Old House Bar B Q

This IS the best BBQ in Denton and the sides are consistently good.  Most places either get the sides right (Metzler's) or the meat (Rudy's) but very rarely are both good.  I recommend the ribs and turkey as their best meat dishes.  They are wood smoked (not boiled).  The tomato/cucumber salad and the potato salads are exceptional.  Some reviews mention cold bread and fries.  The secret is to ask for these.  They typically make them "to-order" and are happy to do so.  If you ever get a chance to try their stuffing/dressing (like for Thanksgiving meals) order double of what you think people might eat.  This is not on their menu and should probably replace their mac n'cheese.  The jalapeno sausage is great for gringos (like me) -- good seasoning but very little heat.  The baked potato is a well-kept secret.  It really IS baked (not boiled); makes all the difference and is very good with the turkey and cheese on top.  The owner is there every day and he truly cares about what he serves.  If you don't get what you want, be sure that he knows about it.  Apparently, this restaurant is linked to the one in Lewisville -- but the food and service is much better in Denton.

Definitely not the "Best Darn BBQ in Town" by any stretch of the imagination. When they were first coming over from Lewisville there was rumors of them offering the occasional all you can eat special of BBQ from time to time, but when I inquired they had no idea what I was talking about, so I assume that idea which I swore I saw in an ad of some sort, went by the wayside, just like my feelings for this place... Would rather go to Metzlers or Smokehouse for sure.

BBQ is good but God forbid you get some fresh rolls or fries here. Always feel rushed too.
