Cinco Amigos Mexican Cantina

We have eaten at Cinco Amigos 6 times. 4 out of 6 times the service was so bad that we almost walked out. We had to wait from 45 min to 1 1/2 hrs for our food. Orders were wrong, drinks not delivered. We had to go to the bar to get our drinks that were sitting there to be served. No one comes around to offer refills. Twice the female manager was rude beyond rude. When we asked for our check for our drinks because we had not been served we were told by the manager that our order was stamped 15 minutes before. NOT 45!!! The server then told us he FORGOT to put our order in. We were ignored the whole time. The food it good BUT the service is so bad we will NEVER go back. Needless to say, no tip was left.

We decided to give the restaurant a try because of errands in the area. My husband and I both had the house margaritas with the complimentary chips and salsa. The red salsa was excellent. The green salsa was bland. The house margaritas were OK, but with the taste of a bottled mix, and I've tasted better mixes.

I ordered the Puerco Mexicana, my husband the Chile Rellenos. The chile relleno (it is a single relleno, which the menu does state) was very good. It's served with red rice which had met with the grill for a wonderful flavor, and with refried pinto beans, which were excellent.

My Mexican pork was inedible. The pork chops had been cooked too fast and too much. I could not chew them. And, the menu said they would come in a sour cream sauce, which was absent. The pork was covered with chopped tomatoes. The black beans were good, as was the zucchini. To the restaurant's credit, the waitress immediately offered to replace it with something else, so I asked for a chile relleno, since my husband's was so good.

The restaurant had a stylish decor and the waitresses were fabulous. However, since we have better options closer to us, we likely won't make the trip back.

This was the second time we have visited. In both cases the service was not attentive. Take note, I did not say bad, just inattentive. On the plus side, this local restaurant has potential as their food is good. Many local restaurants (meaning independants) do not stand a chance due to poor quality. The atmosphere is good, wood fired oven makes things feel current. I had Fajitas, wife had chicken chimi, son had anchiladas, he did not care for but not due to poor taste, he just did not like shreded chicken. I tasted and it was fine. Fajitas were really good, ample portion, wife loved hers. Take note, refried beans very good. Hopefully the ownership will begin cross training the host to take drink orders and refills. One couple left when they never were recognized by server, they made comment and server said "I have many tables" as if it was guest fault. I chalk it up to poor training. We had to wait to be seated, not because too busy, but because they did not have enough help. I would chalk it up to one time event but same exact thing experienced last time. Easiest thing in the world to hire wait staff and not expensive like kitchen staff. We were ignored for first 7 minutes or so, no drinks, were served chips, server sort of tried not to look at us as she was buried. Thinking inexperienced ownership. I intend to send the owner a note, just suggesting some cross training for expeditor and host, if host would have simply taken drink order and refilled, experience would have been much different and we would have felt they knew what they were doing versus the opposite. We will go back, if service is poor next time, we probably would not return, the reason for the return is that food quality is decent.
