I can't stand to step foot in this place because I know that if I want a beer it's going to take me a good 10 minutes to get one because it's totally overcrowded and god forbid I've gotta take a piss because it means I have to manuver my way through the crowd.
Speaking of the crowd, its full of duche bags, frat boys and barely legal bar flies. Some of the low life guys are just standing around waiting for someone to look at them wrong so they can act like they want to fight until their friends just hold them back and whatnot. Unless you're the type of person I mentioned you can find somewhere else to go.
How the heck am I the first person to write a review for this place??
City Bar is my Cheers, or at least it was before I moved. Â It's the kind of place you go to every night you go out, which for me was 4-7 nights per week. Â You get to keep their plastic drink cups, and most people in the Lafayette area have a billion of them in their homes. Â The drinks they pour are typically doubles, because of the cup size, and the prices are usually $6-8 per drink.
It used to have 2-for-1 drinks on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I'm not sure if they're still running that special. Â Wednesdays are their beer pong night, so expect the college frat boys then... Â Thursday - Saturday, the place typically turns into a club-like environment, as the night goes by. Â They take the bar stools out to make room for people drunk dancing to current hip-hop songs or old school stuff like Eazy E. Â Sundays were a pretty fun karaoke night - not your average stuff, though, think more along the lines of the off-duty bouncers cutting up on stage.
If you can't tell, I miss this bar... Â I haven't found anything in Dallas quite up to par yet.
PS - The Bloody Mary's are an awesome way to start the day off during Mardi Gras, when you go to watch the parades downtown...
