Had a great anniversary dinner here!  We made a reservation on a Saturday night and were sat right away.  I was surprised how big and place was and it looked like a lot of money was put onto the decor.  It almost has a corporate or Cheesecake Factory feel, yet more elegant.  We both had the white "sin" gria which was delicious and refreshing.  We started with the Kobe beef sliders, which were juicy and delicious.  For dinner I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the ny strip.  The salmon was in a maple glaze, served with a sweet potato purée and apple fennel slaw.  The portion size was perfect and the favors paired well.  My boyfriend's steak was served with the bone marrow, a unique side for the adventurous type.  For dessert, definitely try the cake in a jar!  Overall, our meal was pricey, but definitely worth it!
Review Source:Went here with my wife for wedding anniversary and both of us left very impressed. The waitress had a high knowledge of food and wine which made ordering simple. She also offered great service with no detail overlooked.
Now the food: meatball sliders served on garlic knots were incredible as well as my brick chicken for dinner. Stars of meal however were the caramel stuffed donuts and my wife's appetizer of braided figs.
All and all great ambiance and food, nice romantic spot which was perfect for an anniversary dinner.
They have Peroni on tap and the food was pretty good. The atmosphere is very nice. Would make for a good date, but not that much of a memorable one. Definitely a good place to check out one weekend if you live in the area, but don't travel from far away to come to this place. There are restaurants like this in every area.
Review Source:Very nice ambiance.  Fantastic drink menus.  Great company.  D and I went for a little girls  night out and rather enjoyed the experience.  We ordered tasty caesar salads and huge glasses of wine to go with our dinner. She had the stripped bass which she liked and I had the truffled flat bread which I thought was okay.  For desert we ordered the flour less chocolate cake with coffee gelato.  This was only meh - the cake was too dense and the gelato tasted rather fake.  However, my cappuccino (which came in a big ass mug - and you all know I love big ass mugs) - that was amazing.  I would come back to try other things on their menu, like their fish and stuff.
Review Source:Overall, my experience at City Cellar was really good; the food was delicious and the wine selection was excellent. The ambience was far better than I expected. The restaurant was so large, I was concerned it would feel too much like a big chain, but it didn't. It's one downfall was the service: it was very spotty an left me waiting for a glass of wine, it took 20 minutes for any bread  to be placed on our table, the drinks also took time and the table had so much 'stuff' on it (salt, pepper, flowers, candle) that the when our appetizer arrived they didn't know where to put it. Despite these (minor) issues, I would probably go again.
Review Source:This place looks so swanky it seems a little misplaced, sitting right across a Target and next to Famous Dave's BBQ. It reminds me of a steakhouse you'd see in AC or Vegas.
The wine list is extensive, with each glass running around $15. I had their Merlot and Malbec, and all I can say is "meh, I've had better." I didn't really enjoy the cheese platter either. Their selection of local cheese proved too musky for my taste, so I ate the nuts it came with.
The menu itself has a good variety, ranging from pastas to flatbreads to steak. I got the half and half steak frittes, which is a skirt steak served with thinly sliced french and sweet potato fries. I thought it was delicious, and I would have scarfed it all down, but my date was starting to judge me so I stopped myself lol.
The service was alright, dare I say a little snooty because we took a long time deciding what wine and courses to order. All in all, I probably would come back just for the steak and fries, although the wines I had were disappointing, and they didn't offer wine flights. I think it's a nice place to take a date if you wanna impress them, or a client. Just be prepared to shell out the big bucks. Each main dish is gonna set you back $24-36.
One of my favorite places to eat on Long Island. The food is amazing, the wine selection is unbelievable (it covers the entire back wall and more) and the service is great. I go there over and over for dates and get-togethers with friends. So good I don't even know what else to say about it, just go.
Review Source:My friend is celebrating her fiancé birthday here.... This is a really nice spot on the Island... It is big and spacious.. And the party was in a private room in the back which was very intimate and nice.
The staff is very profesaional and polite. I started out with.the Calamari and it was very tasty.
The menu for the night consisted of:
Appetizer: Crispy Goat Cheese Ravioli w Basil Pesto and Tomato Jam..... It was pretty good.
First Course: Hearts of Romaine Cesar Salad....
MainCourse: Grilled Skirt Steak with Half and Half Fries and Creamy Spinach..... Oh man this dish was really good.... The steak was very tender..... And the fries was so great thin cut and light....
This is a pricey restaurant with a huge space and nice ambiance
First, the ambience and art that was in the restaurant was grade A, but the food was just okay and very expensive and the portions were small. I don't mind paying the price that comes along with buying good quality food, but please let the portions match the price I pay. I'm not too good take home a doggy bag.
Review Source:Went for brunch on Sunday. My friend and I ordered the quinoa spinach salad and chicken salad croissant to share. The quinoa salad was Awesome, and seriously, we didn't even need the sandwich, it was that filling. But the sandwich was very tasty also. Service was very good, we could have lived without the live music. They were ok, but not really necessary.
Review Source:Came here for a business luncheon midweek and enjoyed my meal a lot! They have a wonderful price fixe menu for lunch that's an amazing deal. You get an appetizer with various soup and salad selections and an entree for under $15.00. I wound up with a very tasty tomato bisque soup then had their turkey burger with fries. A business associated started with a Ceasar salad that was massive! It could have been his main course, then had a chicken salad type of sandwich that was also large in size. LIke I said, good value for the amount of food and everything tasted very good.
I usually rate based on cocktails as well, but it was a business lunch and I did have to actually do work later in the day so I passed on a cocktail this time, even though the bartender initially was very attentive during a somewhat quiet period of the day. Â Our waiter was also very good and attentive.
I would definitely come back to City Cellar for a dinner next time. The environment was modern and classy and the menu looks worthy of a try during later hours.
This restaurant has become one of my wife's and my favorite local places. The food is always well prepared, the service is professional and there is an extensive wine list with reasonable prices. The only real negative is that the on many evenings the noise level becomes extremely high.
Review Source:My friends and I were visiting the area for a Bridal Shower and this place came recommended by our hotel. Â At first I was apprehensive because I am not a fan of the usual LI area chain restaurant/mass production type places. Â City Cellar had a very open layout and a great wine list which was nice. Â They waitress was very knowledgeable of the specials and we had some delicious friend olives as an app. Â I ordered one of the salad which was phenomenal--I would highly recommend their salads. Â My friends tried the pizza and gnocchi which they also enjoyed. Â I liked the great attention we got from our server here she was incredibly helpful and we really enjoyed our evening. Â Make sure you make reservations well in advance here, since we made night of reservations and needed to make them for 8pm because the place was totally booked.
Review Source:Had a great time. Beautiful wine selection. Friendly service. Had the shrimp and scallops~delish. Martini is just right. Great selection of cheese. If you can get there early and grab a seat at the bar drinks are half price. We unfortunately did not get seats at the bar but they still had free soup or salad and dessert with any entree over $20. The ceaser salad wasn't as fresh but the dessert was awesome. Would definitely go again. Might be a regular from now on.
Review Source:Whether you're looking for a nice date spot, a simple tasty lunch, or anything in between, City Cellar is a fantastic choice! Â
I spent the better half of college / grad school eating out here, but since my move to Manhattan in October 2010, my City Cellar visits here have been few and far-between. Â Having said that, these are the notable features and changes:
MENU - Still an amazing and diverse selection, including Mediterranean-inspired appetizers, homemade pizzas, savory sandwiches and entree salads, hearty pastas, and some really filling fish, poultry, and meat selections. Â We went straight for the jugular and ordered up a Long Island duck and braised lamb shank, splitting a beef carpacchio appetizer. Â Per the waiter's recommendation, we washed it down with a shared half-bottle of Pinot Noir. Â Instead of the tri-fold menus of the past, all options are on one side of a rigid menu "board," with a separate menu of daily specials.
PRICES - They've increased a bit since my last visit, but portions are generally appropriate for what they're charging. Â I always found City Cellar to be very reasonable anyway - now I guess they're just a bit less reasonable :)
SERVICE - Always impeccable. Â Every server I've had, including our waiter last night carries a professional yet friendly demeanor. Â They're prompt to top off wine and water, check on meals at least once, and make honest food and drink recommendations. Â Last night, we had a reservation for 7pm. Â We arrived early, and they reciprocated, seating us nearly 10 minutes ahead of our reservation, and giving us a spacious booth, even though we were only a party of two!
VENUE - They've expanded the space to include outdoor seating out front, sheltered by some neatly manicured shrubs and trees. Â Additionally, they've expanded the eastern edge of the building to include a private catering/party space - my guess is they could probably accommodate about 80-100 seated guests in that area, although it lacks the openness (high ceilings), and warmth of the main dining room.
Overall, this place is an easy five stars in my book, and fills a good niche not served by other nearby restaurants.
I don't understand why this place doesn't have more 4 and 5 star reviews. We came here for a celebratory dinner (I got engaged!) and were all blown away by how beautiful the place was and how perfectly delicious the food and wine were.
We started with the mediterranean hummus/feta/olives/flat bread/eggplant stuff (whatever it is, I like it!). IT WAS AWESOME. We also had the selection of cheeses and RAISIN WALNUT CRISPS, which also came with nuts, honey, jam, and some different, buttery bread. Seriously. These appetizers were just completely outstanding. I can't even go on and on about them because I'm making myself jealous of me last Saturday night when I got to eat here.
Meal-wise, I tried a bit of everyone's meals and I have to say, all the food was just wonderful. I ordered the quinoa salad, which had such an interesting assortment of flavors (quinoa, spinach, apricot, goat cheese, mint, vinaigrette, and other things I'm forgetting) and every single ingredient was fresh and perfectly entwined with the others. It's been four days and I am STILL impressed. I also tasted some of the pad thai and the spaghetti with veal meatballs. I don't mean to gush here, but again, everything was delicious.
Last thing and then I'll stop... we ended the Platter of Desserts ($20, ack!) and thus, got to try a little of everything. If I wasn't stuffed to the brim (and, you know, at a restaurant) I could have seriously licked the plate. What a fun dessert. Also funny to say. Platter of Desserts!
So I've been back, twice since my first visit actually, and City Cellar is still a 3 star experience.
The food was still good, nothing remarkable, but good nonetheless. Â Service left much to be desired unfortunately. Â I was with a party of 6, all family, so had the opportunity to sample a number of new dishes. Â Here are my thoughts...
The Hummus appetizer was surprisingly good. Â It comes with a huge chip and a nice spread of olives, goat cheese and a very good eggplant caponata.
The Beef Carpaccio was my first experience with raw beef. Â Very good, a lot of flavor.
Of the entrees...
Grilled Sword Fish (Special)...thick piece of fish, slightly under cooked in the middle. Â So-so.
Beef Tenderloin...good, but have had a lot better for less.
Chicken Under a Brick...best of the 3, but overly salty.
For dessert we all shared the Dessert Platter ($20). Â It's probably my favorite menu item at City Cellars. Â There's a lot happening on the platter...crepes, gelato, biscotti, apple strudel, cheese cake, flowerless chocolate cake, creme brulee and maybe one or 2 other things. Â Save room for it, you wont regret it.
Had always been curious to try this place, with it's dark lit and mystifying exterior; the words "Wine Bar" were also a good incentive. Â And while this review is a tad late, I had to write about how enjoyable this experience was.
Must say this place has lots of variety food-wise and would be great for a date, a small or even large group; I would leave the kids at home for this one, even though I noticed high chairs were available during our short wait.
The Wine Flight is a must try if you're in an adventurous mood; three different reds or whites, you're bound to like at least one. Â I had the Rib Eye* which was seared and crusty on the outside, tender on the inside; the root vegetables were roasted just right; the dish was a very large portion and I was able to bring the other half home to the hubby. Â My friend enjoyed her NY Strip and we capped the night off with cappuccinos and the Banana Creme Donuts which were nicely complemented with vanilla bean ice cream.
Whether for an intimate date night with the hubby or hanging out and catching up with the girls over pizza and wine, I am already picturing my next trip back.

Went here last night with a friend who was taking me out for my birthday. Got seated right away, thankfully.
Pros:
The wait staff is friendly and very attentive to you.
Extensive amount of wine.
Food is delicious.
Cons:
None that I can really think of.
We had ordered the Calamari Fritto Misto appetizer, Caesar Salad (which did NOT have the gross white dressing, thank goodness), and shared one of their brick oven pizzas, which is enough to serve 3-4 people (8 slices). The pizza we had ordered was made with arugula, ricotta, and prosciutto. SO delicious. Thin crusted and crispy. Just the way a pizza snob likes their pizza! :)
I don't know when I'd be going back, but I would definitely recommend it!
I've been to City Cellar many many time and finally getting to writing a review. Â
I've been here on dates, with large groups and with small group and every time my guests and I have been very satisfied. Â It's an absolutely huge and nicely appointed place with a great bar and about a gazillion wines. (yep, a gazillion)
On my most recent trip there I went with a few colleagues for a dinner after work. They had salads for apps and I had an onion and mushroom soup that was so good I wanted to sneak in the kitchen to grab another pot , I mean bowl of it. For the main courses I had  tilefish that was nice and crispy yet very soft and flaky on the inside.  It came with ravioli and a pure of something (can't remember, but it was d'lish) The other orders were the twin pork chops which I've had before also. Beautiful crust and always super juicy. I forget what our other guest had.  We also had desert as part of there 3 course deal. Basically If you order an entree over $20 you get a soup/salad and desert free. Not a bad deal at all.
Really a great spot and the wait staff the front staff as well as the bartenders (not to mention the chefs) do a really great job of taking care of you. It's always worth the trip and you'll always be happy you came.
I splurged and went all out at this restaurant - wine tastings, appetizer, main course, dessert and cappuccino - and enjoyed every minute!
The decor is strikingly beautiful with the wine on display along a huge wall. Â The brick oven flame gives the place a nice glow and the dark interior makes for intimate dining. Â I highly recommend this place for a date or a night out with friends (adults...not so much for children).
What stood out on the menu for me was the Duck Confit (very tasty & plenty to share for two), the Wine Flight (three glasses laid out in front of you makes for a nice presentation - I love trying new vino even if I didn't love one of them), and the portion sizes of the main entrees - you will go home with left overs! Â I tried the NY strip and Rib Eye, but I will return for something as simple as a burger or as enticing as the chilean sea bass. Â The sides could have been better (broccoli stalks and potato lasagna?) but the steak was excellent.
To end the meal we tried the banana donut with vanilla bean ice cream - next time just get the ice cream! Â The dessert was very rich!
A cappuccino wrapped up the 2 hour experience - do not leave it out!
*There is a beautiful catering room off to the side that I would seriously consider using for a party at some point - just in case you're looking too!
Went here recently for a promotion (buy one entree get the second free) and had a pretty nice experience. The interior is beautifully decorated, there's tons of space, a very impressive wine collection displayed like a library stack, service is great and so is the food. All four people in my party loved their meals! And what I really find to be of value is the creativity of the food that's offered. Very unique combinations that all tasted delicious!
Things we ordered and loved included:
-Mussels with Chardonnay, Shallot, Thyme, Tomato, Touch of Cream
-Imported Penne Pasta with Roasted Red Peppers, Fresh Basil, Goat Cheese, Three Tomato Pomodoro
-Gulf Shrimp and Sea Scallops Pan Seared, with Five Mushroom Risotto, Yuzu Citrus-Soy Glaze
The rest were also delicious but they were specials. Oh and had a yummy vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream for dessert.
City CELLAR.
If it were called City Food, City Yum, or even City Wok (pronounced like South Park), it's an easy three star, maybe even four.
Although the behind the bar wine cellar is aesthetically pleasing, and the overall ambiance is nice, the wines are far from spectacular. Â And I'm going to a "cellar" for some good wine. Â The wine list is extensive, but I don't get what the sommelier was thinking. Â The by the glass offerings are lame in my opinion. Â I like to start to start with the whites and end up into the reds and this place just did not allow for that. Â How are there no German Rieslings? Â It's such a cheap price point. Â And no California Merlots? Â Why is the Merlot from New Zealand? Â NZ does some magnificant whites, but not reds - Shiraz maybe, if we need to go red in that part of the world. Â I'm not asking for much here.
I hate when I sound like that up there, it makes me want to kick my own ass, but as wine snobby as it may be, I assure you it's true.
With that said, the food was very much above average on the three occiasions I've been here. Â The pasta dishes were very good, burgers on the money and even the Pad Thai could hold it's own, just ask for a side of ceviche sauce if you want to spice it up.
The service could be a lot better, it's never been overly busy when I've been here and the wait for a glass is a bit much.
It's City Cellar, need to step up the wine by the glass selections.
There should be a new outdoor section opening up any day, may be worth a look back just for that.. Â But I'll be going for that, not the wine. Â The wine I'll make the best of.
We shared the mussels appetizer and it was delicious! Â I'm usually not a fan of mussels because they're super chewy and have a strong sea taste. Â These mussels were very tender and awesome! Â It was cooked in a buttery broth. Â :) Â I also ordered the halibut wrapped in bacon with asparagus and gnocchi. Â It was a bit too salty for my liking but the fish itself was very good. Â It's a very juicy, tender, and meaty fish. Â Someone else ordered the tuna tartare. Â It looked really really good, but I didn't get to try it. Â I will definitely order it the next time.
They have a large selection of wine. Â An entire wall full of wine bottles above their bar. Â The decor and venue is pretty cool. Â It's definitely a great date place. Â I would definitely go again and perhaps order something different and try some of their wines. Â They have half price bottles of wine on Mondays. Â :)
I wasn't that impressed with City Cellar. My family and I ate here for Christmas Eve. The place certainly looks nice and fancy, but the food just doesn't hold up to the presentation.
My first complaint is the menu; it feels lacking. I noticed most of the dishes seem fair enough, but EACH have one or two ingredients that are a little... different. I don't consider myself an adventurous eater. I am willing to try things on my own accord, but I felt like everything on the menu was forcing me to eat something I didn't like. I eventually ordered the gnocchi, but they were slippery and just didn't live up to the standard of gnocchi I'm used to eating. It came with some kind of cheese that was way too sharp and overpowering for the dish. For dessert, I ordered the cheesecake. It wasn't very substantial, but it was very thick. A little too think to be honest, because I was nauseous that night from digesting that thick chunk of cheesecake.
I just don't feel the price justifies the food, in quality or quantity. I don't think I'll be returning.
I drove past this place a million times and always said "eh, its probably another TGIF." But I was asked to join family for dinner and how can you decline when someone else is treating, right? :) To my surprise it was more like a nice Steakhouse & the food was really, really good with an extensive wine list.
It's definitely the type of restaurant you can get dressed up for and feel like you've had a "night out" even though you're plans are just dinner. Music on, lights dimmed, lively crowd, great food, professional staff, never rushed out....Great Saturday night out!
*parking=bad. Between City Cellar and BBQ place I was tempted to park across the street in the Target parking lot
Friend and fellow Yelper Justin F. reviewed this place so I figured I should give my two cents. Well, I'm not really the biggest fan of this place. It is nicely designed and the bathrooms are awesome, but that doesn't mean everything!
I went here for lunch - and the menu is pretty uninspired. They also brought out the incorrect wine, and didn't have two out of three wines I asked for. How can you call yourself a wine bar and not have the wines you have listed on your menu in stock? I ended up getting that glass of wrong wine on the house, but I should have just settled for water. Food was pretty decent but not all that wonderful for what they charge.
Not running back here any time soon.
Wine for the masses.
City Cellar is trying to be a location where you can take a date or friends can meet for dinner and drinks. Â The place is very nicely done but it just reminds me of a California Pizza kitchen with a lot of wine...
The food was decent, better than average but not what I would call top of the line. Â The place is a bit noisy - but we were able to talk without having to yell which is good.
The wines by the glass: while the listing was seemingly large, upon deeper inspection it seemed limited to the usual suspects, just more of them. Â a few Cabernets, a few Merlots etc. Â so it appears impressive but for a place that bills itself as a "cellar", I would expect to find some more interesting things on the wine list. Â
That being said, there is also an extensive wine by the bottle list and there are some good choices there but you have to know what you are looking at. Â For instance, there is no need for 12 different dessert wines by the bottle - what is the focus of the restaurant? Dessert? Â The usual Santa Margherita price gouging is taken to new levels here with the cost of $60 for a really mediocre Pinot Grigio.
"Super" Tuscans start around $150 - Antinori is a good vineyard, but if I'm going to drop $155 for a bottle, I want something way more intimate than a corporate chain themed place to drink it in. Â
French reds were disappointingly sparse - the menu is mostly centered on the great State of California. Â
So in the final analysis - I'd much rather go to a wine centered restaurant such as Hudson's Mill (Amityville) and skip the corporate wine experience which is located to try to capture people who have been shopping a the mall.
Large parking lot available.
I really want to like this place. Â Upon first glimpse, it would appear to be an oasis nestled in chain restaurant hell. Â Unfortunately, although the space itself is pretty, with semi-circular booths outlining the dining room and a beautiful glass enclosed wine cellar, there was a feeling reminiscent of Houston's or the Cheesecake Factory, not a glitsy Vegas-like restaurant. Â
The wine list was pretty extensive, but nobody offered us any help with our selection. Â There was no sommelier in sight - maybe because I dined there on a Tuesday at 8:30, with only about 7 or 8 other tables occupied. Â Other than the 2 daily entree specials, there were no suggestions on the menus as to what they felt was an appropriate pairing. Â Someone should be able to explain the difference between the Chilean Syrah at 12.50/glass and the Austrailian Shiraz at 9.50/glass, other than the fact they are from two separate countries. Â So I ordered the Chilean glass, which was fine, and my wife ordered the Super Tuscan, which smelled like ammonia and tasted like vinegar - clearly sitting out for way too long. Â The waitress apologized and opened a new bottle, which was much better, but at $14/glass - this shouldn't happen when you're calling yourself a wine restaurant.
On to the food. Â I ordered the brick chicken - overall, not bad - crispy skin and juicy, but too salty. Â It came with goat cheese whipped potatoes and haricot vert, which remained on the plate and were unremarkable. Â My wife ordered the salsicce pizza - her first impression was that she's had better from dominoes. Â I tasted it and didn't think it was that bad, but there were no chunks of sausage to be found and the caramelized onions were also difficult to find. Â
Perhaps my expectations were unnecessarily high due to some of the prior reviews of this restaurant or maybe we dined on an off night. Â No disrespect to any of the other reviewers of this restaurant, but if this place is one of the best Long Island has to offer (which I completely disagree), then there is not much hope for anyone on Long Island that desires to eat good food. Â The price point is way too high for the quality of food and service that we received. Â Dinner for 2 was $65 (NOT including tax and gratuity), and my wife only ordered a pizza, not an entree, and neither of us had an appetizer or dessert. Â Be prepared to easily spend upwards of $50 and up per person for the same quality food that you get at the big box chains.
Very simply one of my favorite places on Long Island.
The space is gorgeous,  with a 2 story glass enclosed wine cellar rising up over the the bar.  It's clear that a serious amount of thought was put into the design of this space  ( check out the bathroom if you don't believe me!  A good bathroom is always a mark of a restaurateur who has a good attention to detail. )
I'm not the biggest wine fan in the world, Â but the selection they had rivals many places that I've been. Â Bar drinks are quite good as well. Â Check out the Sangria deal they have on Tapas night. Â Delish!
The food is always nothing short of fantastic.  Though I'd only recommend going for dinner.  The lunch menu tends to be a bit on the boring side.   The dinner menu on the other hand,  changes regularly  and almost always has something really interesting on it. Â
During my last trip I got the filet mignon and it was served in a wine reduction with a gorgonzola cheese empanada. Â Quite simply one of the best plates of food I've ever encountered. Â Totally worth every penny.
I just wish I was able to get out of there for less than $100 for 2 ppl haha, Â but the food is just too good.
EDIT: Â As if I didn't love this place enough already, Â they now have a FANTASTIC happy hour deal. Â Every afternoon starting at 4, Â drinks are half-off, Â and so are all of the appetizers. Â This has now become my go-to happy hour spot!
The first time I went to City Cellar I was with my mom. Â We saw it the last time we ate at Famous Dave's (next door) and made a mental note to go back and try it out. Â Walking in the place is very nice, spacious and subdue yet elegant. Â It would be a great restaurant for a first date. Â Their wine menu is extensive; I ordered a Riesling my mom and Pinot Grigio and we were very satisfied. Â For my meal I got a yellow fin tuna rare on the inside and cooked on the outside crusted with sesame seeds as most good tuna steaks are made. Â It came with a jasmine rice that was really tasty and some veggies. A perfect meal! I was too full to order desert on my own so my mom and I shared a key lime and fruit tartlet that was okay, but next time I will pass on the desert and maybe order and after dinner cocktail.
I have been back a few times since and it has yet to let me down yet.
Let me start off by saying that I am not a wine person, prior to coming here I never really could find a wine that I thoroughly enjoyed. However, this place was recommended to me by my date and when a pretty lady says something I usually listen. With that said, my opinion might be slightly skewed... but I absolutely loved this place.
A brief history lesson.... Apparently this place used to be the old Roosevelt Raceway which has since been revamped to create a trendy and sophisticated restaurant and/or winery. Upon entry you will notice some interesting write ups from the New York Times and other publications posted on the wall citing the history of the location as well as some accolades.
The place is very large and roomy, it looks elegant but the dress code is casual. It's like a taste of the good life for us common folk. The waiters and waitress staff are very accommodating and will recommend beverages based on your meals. However, we did not eat anything, instead we headed straight to the bar. She looked through the wine menu, while I observed the wall of wines located behind the bar. I felt adventurous and asked my lady to select a wine, and we both shared a bottle of Coppola Diamond Chardonnay. It was outstanding! So good we finished it and ordered another.
After being a little loaded we wound down and conversed for a while. On weekdays the place closes at 11, but recognizing that we were on a date and perhaps a little sloshed.. they allowed us to stay as long as we wanted.
We didn't stay too much longer.. but it was really nice of them not to rush us out. All and all it was a great place to drink wine and enjoy great company.
I didn't fall in love with the girl that night, but I did fall in love with the place.
Reminds me of Florida immediately. When you pull up it's like the restaurants in West Palm that run right along the highways... and what do ya know, there is  locations in Florida, one being West Palm. Alright, enough back patting for now.
Anywhat, the decor, immense and lovely. Sat in a booth shaped like a leather horseshoe. We ordered a Gewurtz, escargot and the salad with fig and goat cheese. The salad was superb, the Gewurtz a bit too sweet for my liking at the moment and the escargot was decent.
Main course was natural chicken with goat cheese mashed potatoes and sauteed swiss chard with golden raisins. Yummy. I ordered hearth pizza. Left much to be desired. I will leave it at that.
What is date night without dessert? No fun! The special was Summertime Napoleon. Consisted of puff pastry dusted with powdered sugar and layered with ricotta pureed with honey and fresh peaches and strawberries. We damn near licked the plate clean.
They have some nice nightly events that I am sure I will be back for, 1/2 off bottles of wine under $99 on Mondays, Tapas Tuesdays, happy hour with special drink prices, and Ladies Night on Thursdays.
