The food quality has gone way, way, down. I used to ear here and it was great. Now, it sucks.  When my steak was brought to me, the vegetable was cold, the  rice was cold, and my steak was lukewarm. I pointed out issue to my server AND SHE WENT BACK AND MICROWAVED MY FOOD TO WARM IT!!!!   even after the microwave, the food was still kinda cold.  The rice and  veg table had little to no seasoning.

I ended up giving my steak to my dog. The dog really liked it.  She wants me to eat here more in the future  so that she gets my steak. However, the $29.95 price for the steak  results in my dog being out  luck in the future.

Wow, came here last year and it was great. Unfortunatly the prices went up and the food portions went down.

I've eaten here many times over the years. It okay and cheap before. Now that I've been a vegetarian for a couple years I go there for one thing: the salmon caesar salad, which in my opinion is perfect & a great price - cheaper than anywhere else in town I believe.

My wife and I also go here for dinner together occasionally, and not being a vegetarian, she orders just about anything on the menu and it's always been good.

Service has always been okay and they're always on top of the drinks.

This place was really close to our office and wanted to give it a try. The restaurant is a lot smaller than it seems from the outside but I walked in during lunch time. A few people there but I stood there for a few minutes before someone sat me down. Decided to chose the buffalo wings and rib eye steak since I was getting reimbursed, why not? A waitress took my order and got me my drink.
A few minutes later the buffalo wings came out. It was ok for 8 bucks and there was a few pieces on the plate and it seems like it was $1 a piece. The Chicken was fresh tasting and it came out with blue cheese and ranch dressing. My entrée came out and it was fresh off the grill. The steak was really tender and tasty but the bread was mediocre and that's when I last saw my waitress. She never came back and refilled my drink nor asked me if the food was good. I did noticed another waiter at the next table was making sure his customers were happy by refilling their drinks and asking if everything was ok but not my waitress. I actually had better customer service at a Denny's than I would here.  The next time I saw her was when my check came and I wasn't pleased with the service. I expected more from this diner but I was disappointed.

I had Thanksgiving dinner here with a friend. It was very good and  reasonable. The decor is nice with a bar attached. I have had the fettucine alfredo here and it was excellent. Give this place a try for lunch or dinner if you have not already!

    This place totally BLOWS now.

The prices have doubled and the service is in the toilet. What happened to the varied offerings and reasonable prices and conscientious wait staff that brought me to this place over the last few years?  The last 2 times I've gone, I actually walked out before ordering because there was NO SERVICE. Seriously, we sat for about 20 to 30 minutes and were only offered water and menus. No drink orders taken, no nothing.  It's become a joke! Both time we walked out and went over to Beyond the Glory and got stellar service, delicious food and terrific prices and watched sports.  DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE!!!

I went back to this place after having gone there initially a couple of months ago because I was craving prime rib again and we were camping in the area.  The sign of a good place is consistency and just like the first time I had their prime rib, it was delicious.  My girlfriend ordered the rib eye steak and she said it was perfectly cooked, medium rare.

Above all, this time, the service was great, very attentive, professional and personable.  I don't have any criticisms at all and I'm glad to give them my business any day!

Keep up the good work and I'm glad Petaluma has a quality steak restaurant of your caliber.

They are now under new ownership and the food and prices have suffered a hard hit. Some of the food is still the same, steaks are still amazing but everything else has changed. The prices were a big surprise for us. The first time we were just surprised when we got the bill,  the second time we walked out before ordering. I guess I'm spoiled from how it was before but I am not happy with the changes and am not planning on returning and we used to go once a week.

We ate here for Fathers Day. Great choice. It was on our way to the Russian River. I got the fish and chips. My brother got a sandwich and mom and dad got the half a turkey sandwich and salad. We will definitely be back.

My son and I went to City Limits last night and had a great meal.  The service was excellent; the waitress was very attentive and friendly. I had the New York steak, which was perfectly cooked.  It came with baked potato, steamed fresh vegetables and started with a salad.  My son had Filet Mignon.  Both steaks came with a different sauce on the side; mine with a green peppercorn sauce and my son's with a wine sauce.  Both sauces were tasty.  The atmosphere was nothing special. The prices are very reasonable. All in all a very nice meal.  I've been to City Limits several times; for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they never disappoint.

They have the best prime rib in town hands down. The place is very elegant looking on the inside and the waitresses are pretty hot, same with the hostess. I would recommend this place totally.

I wasn't sure where to post this review. The restaurant has their own name apart from the 101 Casino. My favorite dish here is the surf and turf. The lobster tail is the biggest I've ever see and it's good. Steaks here are amazing. I take mine medium rare. I copied and pasted from what I posted on the 101 casino site below.

"They now have an awesome beer menu. Local and national beers on the chalkboard.  Try the "The World's Best Margarita".  I dont know if it's the best but it's right up there.  The bar food is high quality as always with generous portions.  I'm glad the prices are still low."

HAd a burger yesterday, the burger was great but the fries were overcooked. The service was good and the place was busy. I like to come here because of the large menu. The food has always been good and the prices are good for my pocket book.

I met up with a group of  8 adults, two toddlers and two infants for Sunday brunch.  They sat us in a side dining room so that we were away from the rest of the crowd, which we appreciated.   Even though the kids were all great, you just never know, you know?  The room was cold, but they turned up the thermo as soon as we asked.  Thank you!

The server was very attentive and made sure that, as we all dribbled in, we were served our beverage of choice.  Once it came time to order, she agreed to create separate checks.  Again appreciated.

That's about where the good part ended.  We all ordered our food and it came out from the kitchen bit by bit.  And much of the food was lukewarm at best.  The gravy on the bisquets had a skin from sitting too long before being served. Two of us sent our food back to be heated.  Unfortunately, when the food came back, it was hot but now overcooked.  Too bad.  Looking around the table, everything looked like pretty standard breakfast fare.  Portions were generous, but my Joe's Special did not come with anything.  A spatter of hash browns would have been nice.  Or a bit of fruit even.

So, I would call this place "nothing special" or "so so".  Mediocre at best.  I would not recommend to my friends and do not plan to return.

BTW...they are having a drawing each month of Yelpers that create a review. The prize is a free dinner for two.  One of the folks at my table said their review probably would not be entered and if it was,  and he won, he probably wouldn't cash in. Lol.  So that may be be why some of these great reviews have been written as such.

4 star happy hour, 3 star bar, 1 star restaurant (for lunch)

Their happy hour is great, they have the menu online and it's valid anytime a bay area team is playing.

The bar is nice, but very small.  If there were more seating options they'd be 4 star for sure.

I've only eaten at the restaurant for lunch once, but man oh man... terrible.  Service was bad and took FOREVER.  My burger seemed microwaved... onion rings were cold... bun was burnt... and toppings weren't fresh... what else can you screw up on a burger w/ a side of onion rings?

I'll wind up giving them a second chance since my coworkers swear by this place... but REALLY bad start.

Just like many of the other reviewers here, I never had any idea there was such a classy lookin' establishment inside that casino.  I've driven by it about a thousand times and never once thought to go inside.  We both enjoyed our meals (Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Marsala).

The bread was good and warm, plenty of butter.

    The Tomato Bisque was excellent.

We also ordered the Pot Stickers appetizer. I'm guessing they don't have someone back there making the pot stickers fresh but they were fried up crispy n' fresh.

We didn't have room for dessert, but I'd imagine the desserts are equally tasty.

The iced tea (sugar free) has a hint of something fruity in it, and tasted better than most spots that just brew up some lipton and throw ice into it.

Good breakfast.  Coffee was good.  Little creamers are annoying.  Service was friendly and smart, but it took a while to get our food.  The food in general was nicely presented, good portions, and tasty.  Will definitely go back.

I love this place for lunch and happy hour. My friend, Joe P., introduced me to it. The service is great, they even spit up one meal in two plates. We ordered a steak sandwich which was huge, so my wifey and I split it. The servers even split the fries. Their breakfast was so-so. But I dig the lunch and their happy hours.

Came here for happy hour with the lady yesterday (4/12/11). I gotta say that any place where I can get Lagunitas IPA for $1 is immediately getting 5 stars. In total, we ordered 3 beers (two IPAs for me, a Stella for her) and shared a plate of potstickers (pretty tasty) for about $7. Now that's what I'm talkinabout.

We'll definitely be back during the late-night happy hour for some weekend fun...and I'll probably end up handing over my car keys again.

Can you find a place that has $1-2 dollar beers for happy hour? Doubt it. Even though they are very limited on tap, it is still an awesome feature for anyone. Especially when their happy hour is everyday from 4-6, 10-12, and during any A's or Giants game.

What even adds more to it is that the place is super friendly and also have $3 appetizers during happy hour.

I am so happy I found a place like this because for sure I will be coming back. With a group of friends or solo. It is just that sports bar vibe that makes me like it there.

There is nothing I hate more than when my job sends me to the north bay for an extended period of time.  But when I do come, I prefer City Limits.  The food here is pretty good especially when you consider the price.  A meal here would cost twice as much if it were located in San Francisco or Los Angeles. I guess they make enough money from the poker room next door they can provide good value at the restaraunt.  Typically I'll go as soon as I get off work because they have pretty good happy hour specials at the bar as well. You can't go wrong eating here especially if you consider the other options in the area.

After reading rave Yelp reviews for the City Limits Bar and Grill at the 101 Casino, I had to check the place out.  So armed with a healthy appetite and an ace up my sleeve, I headed to Petaluma.

ATMOSPHERE:  The main dining room is small--a dozen or so tables--and has a clean, understated ambiance.  The décor is most muted tones with a vaguely Asian feeling, an impression created by a few shoji screens and bamboo creations scattered about.  The tables were nicely set with real cloths (under plastic sheets) and the serving china was of nice quality.  Overall, I have to describe the atmosphere as one small step short of blah.  If City Limits isn't about classy décor, I concluded, it must be about the service and food.

SERVICE:  We were greeted at the entrance and seated promptly.  Our server was cheerful and fairly efficient.  The kitchen, however, seemed slow in spite of the fact that the dining room was only about a third full.  With adequate, but not terrific service, it was coming down to the food.  City Limits' food had to be amazing to warrant all those rave reviews!

FOOD:  In addition to the usual appetizers, the lunch menu listed salads, sandwiches and burgers, along with three "yaki" bowls, an Alfredo pasta dish and a few other not so common items.  While there, I noticed a special occasion brunch menu that included several fairly sophisticated dishes, so while the lunch menu isn't terribly creative, I'm guessing the kitchen may turn up the heat for dinner.

We started with a nacho appetizer that was tasty and fairly loaded, but the refried beans were dry and had a distinctively canned flavor.  I picked a chicken yaki bowl with rice and found it well prepared with quality ingredients.  Unfortunately, the teriyaki sauce was unusually sweet.  My luncheon companion chose a turkey/avocado/bacon/cheese melt between two large hunks of grilled bread.  Aside from the bread being greasy from grilling, it was a hearty sandwich served with a lettuce salad that didn't have much in it besides greens.  On the other hand, the lettuce was fresh and the Ranch dressing was tasty.  Overall, the food was like the service--adequate, but not terrific.

VALUE:  Lunch, with the nachos and a glass of decent quality house wine totaled about $38, including tip.  With hearty portions and reasonable prices, I call City Limits a good value.

BOTTOM LINE:  With only adequate service and food, I'm left wondering what all the raving is about.  If I had to guess, I might conclude that the rave reviewers were more impressed by the china, low prices and the shock of finding a fairly decent restaurant attached to a Petaluma card room than they were with the quality of the food.  Three stars for now and a promise to try dinner at City Limits.

Who'd a thought, a Casino off the freeway, in Petaluma with off the hook food.

Not only is ALL the food in this place good, it is cheap!
    Burgers - great!
    Breakfast menu - great!
    Alcohol - great!

They did a million dollar renovation on this place, worth every cent.  The bar is cool and quaint, restaurant is open and will lit, you can go with a bunch of guys or take your gal for a nice dinner.

In fact, it is early Sun morning, I think I will go right now!

    Fantastic Food!

My husband and I had dinner here after we played a little black jack on New Year's eve (2009).

The food, from start to finish was great, and well prepared. Their bread i believe is "full circle" bakery-- and it was SO tasty with the whipped sweet butter! (I almost ate 3/4 of the basket before dinner)

I got the Ahi Tuna encrusted with black sesame, and my husband got a traditional 16oz Porterhouse with green-peppercorn mushroom gravy. All was made perfectly, and each bit was fantastic. I'll say it boldly-- but the Ahi was the BIG hit. A couple tables around us asked about my dish, and ordered the same. The other big hit of the night at tables around us was the 20oz Prime Rib-- which also looked fantastic.

They have a awesome $10 corkage fee. It also looks like you could get more parred down bar-grub if you preferred.

The waitstaff is the HIGHLIGHT of this place. The servers and the hostess really do everything to accommodate you. You'll never hear "no, we can't do that" at any point in your night. The waitstaff is fast, courteous and social.

And did I mention the GREAT dinner prices? This place won't break the bank, and lets you feel like you could leave and play a bit in the card room without guilt.

I cannot wait to go back. Best deal/food in Petaluma!

    Petaluma's best kept secret gem...

I know, I know..."four stars for a casino restaurant IN PETALUMA!?!?!?!?". Well, good, you keep thinking that way and eating at all the mediocre restaurants just because they are located in "historic" downtown and I will continue to get great meals at a great price and not have to wait for a seat.   (don't get me wrong, there are some great downtown restaurants in the mid-price range, like Sugo's, Flippers, Maguire's, Hallie's, Brixx, Everest, etc but there are also a lot of real duds.)

I am telling you, this place is great. I am very picky when it comes to my food (although I do accept that certain items have their time and place...I do love hot dogs and nobody is going to claim those are "good food") and have a real eye for detail when it comes to decor, ambiance and service.

This place has cloth napkins and table cloths (although covered with plexi) and you would never guess it was in the same building with a casino. The colours and decor are very soothing. Usually a restaurant in a square room is pretty loud but they have strategically placed sounded absorbing items (whether on purpose or not, I am not sure) all over the place that keeps the noise to a quiet hum. Now keep in mind that old people love this place...and they can't hear well so they talk loud so the place is by no means quiet but when compared to a lot of the other places I eat it is very nice when it comes to sound levels.

The food is very good...YES, I said very good...and that is before you even look at the prices. I have eaten here more times than I can now count and every time the food has been great and the staff has been wonderful. My posse and I have tried just about everything on the menu and have liked them all. I especially like their BBQ sauce covered burger which I think, for the price, is the best in town. The last time I was there it was something like $7.95 and came with bacon, cheese, onion ring and fries. Try to find that anywhere else.

The fish is good, the steaks are good, the pasta is good...oh ya, and they bring you bread before your meal, which I always think is a classy move. Plus, it means that I am taking home half my meal to enjoy for the next day's lunch.

I know that Petaluma is proud of its many restaurants and unless you are really something special, like De Schmire or Le Bistro, you have to be located in the downtown historic district to get any kind of praise...but do yourself a favour and give this place a shot. You will be surprised at how good the food, prices, ambiance and service is and I will bet that you find yourself coming back over and over again.

I live right in downtown Petaluma and can walk to any of a dozen great restaurants but this place is always at the top of my list when friends and family want to meet for a bite to eat.

And one of my favorite things to do is take guest here as a surprise.  They think I am joking when I tell them I want to eat at the casino...but once they finish their meal they are already thinking about who they want to surprise with this, Petaluma's best kept secret gem.

...and, ask them if they have any coupons when you are paying your check. Often times we are given a two-for-one coupon for our next visit. How can you beat that?!?!?!?

I have eaten here at least four times now, and the food has been good every time. The food prices are very good for the quality of food you are served, and the service has always been decent. City Limits has become my new favorite quick pick restaurant in Petaluma.

I have to change my review to 5 stars because we've dined there now at least 6 times and the food has been very good each and every time.

I highly recommend this restaurant for a nice, close-knit evening out with good friends or your S.O.

It's worth the time and money and the you're far enough away from the card room to not notice it's even there at all.

    Enjoy!

Good food, well presented, good service AND GREAT PRICES!  Ambiance is pretty good too. The salad is included in the dinner price -- fresh, delicious, and there wasn't a blemish on a single leaf on anyone's plate. Prime rib is great bargain, good size 12 oz portion was only $13 and flavor was perfect. Mom's fish was good too.  We'll be back often.

well, i have to admit. the food is pretty darn good.

at first, i was an extreme skeptic. go to BREAKFAST? at a CASINO? even in vegas i didn't bother with the $1.99 steak & eggs special. but this is not your average crappy-casino meal. it's better!

i've been in about three times, and each time i leave more than satisfied. the eggs benedict was perfectly prepared, and for 7 dollars you can't get a better deal. when i don't know what to order, i order both. it costs about the same for me to order two small meals as it does on breakfast elsewhere.

the slots aren't too shabby, either.

I was told about this place by my hairdresser who raved about the food and the prices.  My husband and I tried it for dinner and I was immediately impressed by the decor- very urban and no "casino" smells or sounds.  Now, I love Las Vegas....but not necessarily how my clothes smell later!
But the food.  My husband tried the Prime Rib- $14.99 at the time and he was so pleased!  I had the filet and it was wonderful.  Salad was fresh, baked potato off the charts and no skimping on the sour cream and butter!  The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly.  The wait staff is nice, fast and good at what they do!
We have since been back for breakfast, lunch and many dinners.  Have taken friends too!  My favorite on the breakfast /lunch menu is the stir fry dishes- all around $5.95 !  So good and lots of food!  I can have this and hubby can have his burger- its a win-win!
We see the same folks almost every time we go and its getting busy!!  Last night was the best- they have added daily specials and I had the best short-ribs I have had since my grandfather was a cook- over 35 years ago!  $10.95??? Lots of tender meat, a baked potato (they have many choices) soup and asparagus!  MMMMM!!
Prices have gone up about $1 - so Prime Rib is still $15.99 and you get a huge slice.  Steaks are also cooked perfectly.  I want to say try it- but then I won't find a seat for us!!

Surprise, Surprise!, and congratulations to the new owner/management for the very well-done overhaul on this old Petaluma favorite. It used to be Sonoma Joe's back when I was a kid and was always THE place to go after church (they had a really swank dining room & buffet) - I have very fond memories of this place. It had sadly gone downhill in recent years after becoming a card room - dark environment and very obviously in need of some updating.

So here it is, and someone did a very nice job! The decor lends itself to something that could be considered more 'Upscale' than 'Diner' - meaning that if you want to dress up and go out, you won't feel over-dressed for this restaurant. Wanna dress down? That's okay too; lots of people in casual dress.

The Food was divine! I don't go out to dinner much (last outing was about 9 months ago on my birthday). More often than not, dinner out means (to me) a disappointing experience. I happen to be an Above Average cook and hate paying for something that isn't as well-prepared as anything that I can do. I had the House Cut Fillet Mignon (med-rare) made to perfection with Rosemary Potatoes and some really exceptional veggies! Other guests at the table had the Lobster Tail (the biggest piece I've ever seen served at any restaurant), and my daughter (the Birthday Girl) had the Shrimp Skewers. Funny thing about this meal; none of us shared or volunteered a sampling from our plates. Guess we were all selfish... :D

In any case, 'Yay! I'm a Fan!', and oh-so-pleasantly surprised! I'm not a Casino/Gambler type and was greatly relieved that there was enough seperation that you'd never know a Card Room existed on the premises.
