Great place for a relaxing night out. I had the potato skins and garlic shrimp for appetizers and they were options to lead up to my phenomenal main course of fish and chips. The fish was light and fluffy and the French fries were fresh and hot. Our waitress was amazing; she was there when we needed her, and on top of everything. I would recommend this place to anyone passing through High Point, and I know for a fact I will be returning there in future visits.
Review Source:This review is for the bar area only. We stopped in late one night, for a nightcap only. There was a guitar duet there, but I swear it was the most quiet guitar music I have ever heard. You could hear people talking clearly over the music.
There is ZERO diversity here, me and hubby stuck out like sore thumbs. This is never an issue for us, but for some reason I noticed the lack of ethnicity at this joint. Yes, it is an Irish pub, but there are Irish people of other races!
The drinks were okay, staff seemed pretty nice. I doubt that I would go back though.
Simply put: bad.
The waitress complained incessantly, talking our ear off and even telling us better restaurants for the food we were ordering. The service was bad in every way. It took so long to get our check that we tried to just leave money on the table and go, which then lead to even more complaining and excuses from our waitress about how busy and tired she was.
I had the tuna melt and my boyfriend had a burger of some sort (it was that forgettable) and all of the food was bad. The tuna was almost sweet, the fries were clearly frozen and had been deep fried in old oil. Even the beer was overpriced.
Really hoping I had discovered a great Irish Pub in High Point. I've been going there for almost 10 years and had high hopes.
What a shame...
Sat at the bar and ordered steak and calamari app. Calamari just OK and served with cold marinara sauce. Baked potato was cold and I would bet a leftover form the day before. A new one came that was obviously microwaved. Veggies on the side were a confused bunch of julienned something. Steak was below par with maybe a 1/3 being edible.
Forgot to bring steak sauce, salt and pepper to me and never even asked if I wanted. Bartender not to bad but busy doing other stuff around the place most of the time. The only thing that prevents The Claddagh form getting just 1 star is they serve a great pint of Guinness.
Met the owner briefly upon entering and said his Pub had been recommended to me. He never once came over to check on things and obviously has other things on his mind.
TIP: Stop trying to be a fine food restaurant and get back the basics. Limit the menu choices and stop trying to be all things to all people. The only thing keeping the Claddagh afloat is the Pub, somewhat unfair as I did not try the menu extensively, but if you go into a place that feels right and promises a hand cut steak and you don't get it then I don't have much hope for the rest of the menu.
My boyfriend and I ventured in Saturday Feb. 4. around 10pm, we went in, and the bar area was to the right. There was a good amount of people there as well as a live performer. We found a place at the bar and listened to some very good music. The Bar Staff were very talented and they were very good keeping the crowd happy. The environment was very welcoming and enjoyable. Great place to hang out!
Review Source:I would really like to give this place 4 stars, but they just aren't very vegetarian friendly. Â There are a few apps on the bar menu, and the spin-art dip with fresh-fried tortilla chips is delicious. Â But as far as entrees go, the only vegetarian items they have are a veggie pasta and a veggie stir fry, and I'm not going to order either of those at an Irish restaurant for almost $15. Â However, they do have a really good brunch for a very reasonable price (get an omelet with home fries, biscuit and fresh fruit for only $8), though eggs are in almost everything. Their menu says that brunch is only on Sundays, but they are open at 9:30 on Saturdays, so I don't know.
I probably would never go here, but the service is impeccable, and the decor is very nice as well, especially for High Point. Â Typically just stay in the bar, and the bartenders and owner are all fantastic.
So, from a vegetarian standpoint, this place is not great aside from brunch, but it is a great place to come in and have a few beers and maybe some spin-art dip (it really is pretty good, maybe the best I've had).
Located behind the Sonic and to the side of Home Depot is the Claddagh, one of the better bars/pubs in High Point.  When you enter, the restaurant is to your left and the bar is to your right.  As you can probably guess from the name, it's designed to resemble a traditional Irish pub.  They have plenty of TVs playing news and sports and also a  dart board, which is fun to play.  They also have live music some nights.  This place gets crammed over the holidays.
Review Source:From now on whenever I am in High Point the only place I will go to for a drink is The Claddagh. It is a small bar with a pub feel to it. They serve Guinness so they automatically get 4 stars in my book. They have one dart board which is always fun. It has a cool, chill atmosphere and they are pretty good beer prices. I have not eaten there but I am sure it is great. If you are ever in High Point and need a nice place to get a beer and don't want to fight with all the newly 21 year olds then head on over to The Claddaugh. You won't be sorry.
