I have been to Clancy's three times now. Once just for a beer or two with the Hubs. Twice for dinner with friends. All three times were busy Friday nights.
The staff was friendly and courteous. Service was fairly quick and the food is really good! Better than bar/pub food for sure.
The first time I had a chicken pot pie that was HUGE and out of this world delish!
I can't recall what I had on the second visit... Terrible, I know.
Whatever it was it must have been good because I still want to go back for more.
The menu has a large variety.

A Typical Sports Bar / Pub offering better than average Pub Food.  Clancy's has an outside patio / bar which offers an alternative to the Sports Bar Atmosphere inside.  They are known locally for their Burgers,  But also have items such as Sheppard's Pie, and Meatloaf.  Both of which are above average.  Service is usually Very Good.  No Real Drink Specials.  Booths inside for family dining.  A popular spot for local Golfers.

I am thrilled that Clancy's got it together!

The new renovations and menu are a great addition to the area. Before the place was a bit outdated, and the food was not so good.

Last week I had the "Twist" which was a pastrami sandwich on a Philly pretzel roll - amazing! Delicious! And the week before that I got the short rib flatbread, which was also yummy. The arugula, beef and parmesean cheese was a perfect combination.

Can't wait til the deck is open to dine al fresco!

I have visited Clancy's several times over the last eight years.  It was never anything special but the beer was always cold and it has a large bar area with many televisions for sports.  A good place to meet up before heading out for the night and they had decent bar-food-type snacks.  This place was closed for a better part of the early spring and depending on what story you heard it could have been closed for good or bad reasons.

Anyway, while Clancy's was closed the front marquee indicated that the were renovating.  At that point I got excited because they were due for a change and my personal opinion was that the kitchen and menu needed just as much renovation as the dining room and bar area.  So, a few weeks, a month and they re-open.  I give it a few more weeks for the staff to learn the new menu and the new layout.  I then read an article in the local newspaper about the new menu and decor and it sounds like things got better.  Don't get me wrong, I liked the place, but when we were torn where to go for a quick bite and a drink we would usually head elsewhere because the food was just so-so.

So I stopped there for dinner (5:30) on 4/20/2013 before heading to a concert in the city and I can honestly say I will most likely never return.  I had a terrible experience.  When I first walked in, the place smelled like moth balls - no lie, moth balls.  I didn't get it and that was the first thing I noticed.  The second thing I noticed was the new decor, however, the layout did not change.  It was Saturday so there was a crowd and I had to wait for a table.  No problem, I understand that it is a Saturday evening, but there is no place to wait.  I had to wait at the main entrance and constantly had to move away from the door as more people came in.  The bar was pretty much full and what appeared to be a waiting area next to a fireplace was right in between two dining tables where people were eating so it was not a comfortable place to wait.

After waiting for 15 minutes to sit down I was seated in the back room in a booth.  The booths share the backrests of the seats so you feel every time the guy sitting in the next booth moves around because the backrests aren't anchored properly.  Very uncomfortable.

The waitress, who was a very polite and friendly young lady, asked for our drink order but was not able to recite the tap or bottle list.  And I had to ask her because there was no drink menu on the table.  With somewhere in the vicinity of 20 taps, there should be a draught list on the table, just my opinion.

Then we review the menu.  Much of the old menu is still there and there were quite a few new items too - Great, I thought I'd try something new, but let's start with the Clancy's nacho platter.  For $8 I was disappointed.  Not many chips and they were drenched in processed jar cheese.  I could have made that at home and saved $5.

Here's a not-so-funny part - as we waited for the main course some guy starts yelling, and I mean YELLING, in the bar area.  He was cursing and we thought there was a fight until the waitress pleasantly announced "He's just yelling at the TV.  He's been here all day."  Well maybe its time to call him a cab then!  it was pretty disturbing that they would let someone get that hammered.

Which brings me to one major point.  This place is confused about its identity.  It doesn't know if it wants to be this trendy, upscale casual pub with a trendy menu or a neighborhood sports bar.  I mean the new decor is beautiful - gas fireplaces and earth tones with glass tile and a bunch of other fancy stuff, but then they have TVs lined up against the entire length of the wall behind the bar with sports being televised and rock music playing.  Definitely confused about what type of place it exactly wants to be and not the ambiance I expected in a dinner time setting.

Anyway, the main entrees are still so-so.  The only option as a side with a sandwich was fries, and they came out undercooked.  Nothing to write home, or Yelp, about.  I was simply expecting more with the redesign and relaunch but walked away very disappointed.

Disclaimer: I have been coming to Clancys for the better part of at least 12 years.  Back in college I was here every Thursday.  I've developed a good relationship with the wait staff and management.  Clancys was always a cross between a dive and a pub.  That is what I liked about it.  There was nothing stuffy or pretentious about it.

Anyway, I heard they were renovating the place and was curious to check it out once they were done.  I went with my best friend (who has been coming as long as I have) and my girlfriend who has gone twice before they renovated.  The most noticeable change right away is the outside is a different color than the off white color it used to be.  We get inside and we are floored at the changes: faux hardwood, granite counter top tables, fancy bar backsplash, nothing on the walls, a fireplace/lounge area...we were stunned.  We only had to wait about 5-10 min for a table, but that was because the hostess never came and got us.  The manager was the first to notice how long we were waiting and got us to a table (manager also checked up on our table which is always appreciated).  The menus are not placemats anymore, but actual real menus.  The previous menu is largely intact, which some noticeable changes (pizza and flatbreads? really?).  We order the calamari for the table and was as delicious as we remember.  My girlfriend had the crab corn chowder, which was great.  The gf got the boneless wings in the original sauce.  I had some of hers and they were still pretty good (the wings were always phenomenal before, so that is good).  My friend ordered something different from the menu, chicken and broccoli alfredo pasta.  He said it was good, but a little too heavy on the alfredo sauce.

I decided to try a new menu item instead of just falling back on my old crutches.  I ordered the mac and short rib sandwich on texas toast.  When it arrived I knew I shouldn't have been shocked.  It was on nice crispy texas toast, but it was almost completely mac and cheese with tiny bits of beef short rib.  So I basically ate a mac and cheese sandwich because I was starving.  Thankfully the gf didn't eat all of her wings.  Tip: Do not order this sandwich....ever.

The servers at Clancys are no longer only women (nothing against male servers, but females in general, especially at Clancys were some of the most friendly and accommodating).  We got a gentleman server who was undoubtedly the most unfriendly and inattentive I have ever experienced at Clancys.  We had to ask for refills (no-no #1) and looked about as happy as a turkey on Thanksgiving.  He never offered a dessert menu (the gf wanted dessert) and didn't realize there was one until we saw another table receive their dessert.  We didn't bother ordering and went to Creanies in Sicklerville afterwards (see that review!).

Overall, I don't like what they have become.  The menu is the same as it was before (mainly pub food), but the place looks like an upscale Italian restaurant.  It looks like they didn't want to alienate the regulars by changing the menu, but wanted to attract an entirely new crowd with the decor.  I for one am incredibly disappointed.  This would have easily been 5 stars a few months ago.  I just can't do it now.  I don't know what prompted this change (new ownership?), but I honestly don't see myself going back which makes me sad.  The place used to pride itself as being that casual and fun neighborhood pub.  If I were ever to go back, I would try and spot an old server to wait on us because the one we got was horrible.

Also, there is no longer fresh popped popcorn for the tables.  Another great thing now gone for....whatever reason.

This is a cop bar - wouldn't recommend it unless you want to get beat down by drunkin version of the already psychotic cops in the area.

Don't recommend getting the spinach artichoke dip-it tasted like completely like sour cream.  The salad and sandwiches are decent, I've had better.  Probably wouldn't go here again.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. Always a crowd (locals?) and you'll know why once you receive your food. The size of the sandwiches are big, taste great and cheap. Everything time we come here we are not disappointed.
I would give this place 5 stars but I don't think they have a French Chef in the back! ;)

Great place to come for lunch, dinner, or drinks with friends. When I go out to eat I like to try different items. I NEVER get the same thing except for here at Clancy's. I am in LOVE with the Turkey Reuben. This tasty sandwich is only 6 bucks and features Roasted Turkey with Havarti Cheese and Apple Cole Slaw Served on Rye. YUMMY! I can't get enough of this ooey gooey sammy! Lots of specials for lunch and dinner. The only problem I have with Clancy's is that the service, especially at the bar, is slow. Unfortunately if the bartender doesn't know you, you may have to wait a while for your drink. Other than that this is a great little hangout with tasty food in Gloucester County.

I've been coming here since 2001--- just for the wings (and other stuff)! The wings are terrific; the locals are friendly; they don't talk about it much --- but the chicken pot pie is mint! Be careful with the chicken pot pie --- it's piping hot!
