Stay away from this place. Went for breakfast on Father's Day. They only had 1 waitress working and I think a skeleton crew in the kitchen based on how slowly the food was coming out. Which you could tolerate as poor planning but the story doesn't end there. Eggs Benedict came out with a folded over slice of fried deli boiled ham instead of Canadian bacon. In addition one person in our party ordered eggs Benedict without the meat as she is vegetarian. When the order finally came, you guessed it, it came with the delightful slice of deli ham. We sent it back and the waitress came promptly back with what she said was a "new order of freshly made eggs." While eating it they found a piece of the ham under the eggs. All they did was bring the plate in the back and pulled the ham off!!! Stay away from this place. First and last time we will go there.

Do not go here.  It used to be awesome and now it is under new ownership and sucks.  I had a veg lasagna with no flavor a d my husband had scallops, he is very easy to please, and he was very disappointed.  We used to go to the old restaurant all the time nd loved it.  Big disappointment.

A very unique (to Burlington) neighborhood restaurant. You get the impression that the average customer has lived in this part of Colchester for 50 years, and they have been coming here for 20 or more. The pub area is very social, feeling like more like a VSO or other social club than restaurant. The dining area feels like an oversized dining room out of one of the local homes. I've never been overly disappointed with the food here. I would say that most orders i have seen were very good without being great. It is certainly a fair value. If you feel like you have been everywhere in town, try this place out sometime. Reservations suggested, but probably not really needed most nights.

Tonight my wife and I decided to go to the clover house because some friends had told us to try it. Myself being in the restaurant business my wife despises going out with me because I am too picky. Well tonight was no exception from that and she also commented about a few things. When we arrived the parking lot was about half full and inside there was a couple ahead of who looked as though they had been waiting a while. We all waited a couple more minutes for any of us to be acknowledged from anyone other than the bartender. Finally after she seated the others in the dining room she came back to greet us an asked whether bar or dining room we said dining room and she told us it would be a few minutes.   After we waited about 5 minutes the hostess came out and brought us to our table, I was a little confused about why it took so long to get a table as there were about 6-8 empty tables. When the hostess showed us our table she just said you're sitting over there and was t very clear and I almost sat at the wrong table.
Now at the table I looked at the menu had a few questions about the steak on the menu and the as a special. When our waitress came over, about 3 or so minutes after we were sat, she didn't introduce herself or ask how we were doing or if we had any questions, all she asked was would you like anything to drink other than water. After getting our drink orders she disappeared for another good length of time probably 7 minutes or so. Now with our drinks she asked for our order I asked a couple questions about the steaks and what cuts thy were and she didn't seem well informed. My wife and I both decided to order the chateau bistro steak and French onion soup which comes with the entree but was $1.00 more for some reason even though the regular soup and the French onion were the same price on the regular menu. When we received our soups they had a nice nutty Swiss smell but the cups were a complete mess like they were just thrown together in a rush. The broth had a very bland flavor and te onions seemed as though they were barely sauted before the broth or wine or whatever was added, the onions still had a little crunch and were still pungent like an onion instead of being sweet. The bread was very soggy and didn't taste as though it was toasted or anything. I couldn't finish it because the onions were so strong. When the waitress took it she didn't ask how it was and just took the cup.
When our entrees came the meat was cooked perfectly but was not seasoned, the green beans and carrots were very overcooked and soggy, the garlic mashed potatoes tasted as though they were the sour cream and onion potatoes that were supposed to be on the special not this regular menu item. The port wine Demi glacé was way too sweet and didn't pair very well with the steak it took away rather than added anything to the dish. Too make things even worse the food wasn't very hot and seemed as though they had been sitting in the window for a few minutes. To add insult to injury my drink ran dry three times during the course of the evening and my wife's ran dry twice. When I asked for a dessert menu they didn't have one and she had to risight them from memory and I then asked if they were made in house and she said they were brought in and wouldn't say from where.
So all in all it was not the best experience, the decor was okay and the lighting was nice. I think the FOH needs more training and direction and the food needs to be little mor refined. The price was average and the drinks were very good, with a little help this could be great restaurant.

Wonderful. Excellent, imaginative menu. Nice service. Low-key, cheaper than downtown Burlington with food that bests 90% of its offerings. Go.
