Everyone keeps saying "dive bar" like that's a bad thing. I love JPs for a few reasons, 1) Karaoke - you either love it or hate it and haters can exit to the left. 2) Locals - most nights it's a really mixed crowd of regulars, random locals, and a handful of college students. The weekends have more students, but far fewer in JPs than in other bars, and as a townie, that's a huge plus. 3) Cheap cocktails served by really awesome bartenders. Bailey is the bee's knees and should be tipped accordingly.

Dive bars are supposed to be gross and kinda weird. Only hipster "dive bars" are clean, pretty, and cool. JPs is everything I want in a local watering hole and I hope it never changes. Is it the best bar in the world, hell no. But that doesn't make it terrible.

What a dive! And don't get me wrong, I love a good dive bar. I practically lived at the Needs back when it was still on College and a little divier than it is now. But this place is a dive in a gross, "I am sorta drunk yet way too sober to be here" kinda way. The crowd ranged from wasted to almost comatose when I was there late one weeknight. Those really wasted people then started to sing karaoke and it was just painful.

Also, carpet floors at a dive bar? Really?? That's just gross!

Great white Russians...best I've ever had.  The dude would certainly abide if he came to JPs.  They did have karaoke but the talent was lacking...just busted chicks making sounds more like skinning a cat then actual songs.  I have to point out the bathroom situation...absolutely gross.  Coming from a guy, it says something.  Lacks basic amenities such as toilet paper, soap, hand drier or towels, and doors on the stall.  It would be more sanitary if you popped a squat in the wilderness.  Given this, I would refuse to eat there.  All in all I give JP a Okay on the Avioli scale...for Damn good white Russians.
