I came here with a friend tonight. We are both from out of town. We were seated immediately and then the service went down hill from there. Another waitress came over and asked if we had been helped  yet. Upon learning we had not, a waitress and trainee came over. We had soft drinks which took forever to get. We ordered dinner and it took a very long time. I would give this place one star but the food was excellent. The waitress did not seem happy, kind of blah.. wont be back
Review Source:Daily Planet WAS my favorite place to grab good downtown. I still love it, but had a couple OK dishes last few visits. The atmosphere is wonderful. Dimmed lighting and candles in the main dining area. The solar area is lighted with local artwork and has comfy couches. The bar area is big and has quite a bit of seating. Staff is always friendly, and the establishment has a very local vibe to it.
Now for my food review:
Burgers are great! Mondays they used to have a special burger and beer for $10. Amazing deal. I believe this is still going on, but have not been on a Monday in a while.
The other food I find that I love tends to change with the menu every few months. It's likely to be related to what's in season, and the menu is fairly small so it makes sense. I had a fried chicken dinner there on Thursday. Chicken was very good, and although it was leg and thigh meat, it was boneless. It had a honey glaze that I believe was mixed with Jalepeno. A nice flavor and spice. Sides included veg. and mac and cheese. Mac and cheese I found to be dry and somewhat boring. The visit prior to this I had a lamb special of the night in December. I found the meat to be very fatty and almost unedible. Very disspointing for every other experience I had loved my meal.
Best part of the menu: DESSERT!!!! Pear roasted in red wine and spices served with icecream. Incredible. Another friend had chocolate cake, which was also very good. Never had a bad dessert there.
For being downtown I find prices to be reasonable for being a slightly more upscale establishment. For local and quality expect to spend $15-$20 per meal. I will continue to go back, but not sure I would have had my bachelorette party there again like I did in December.
