I came here for a Batuke Samba Funk concert - the venue itself is spacious, with a lot of VIP seating upstairs around the railing. The service here is terrible, from the doorman to the ticket booth clerk to the servers in VIP, we were treated with indifference and even impudence by the doorman. With VIP tickets and dressed nicely, you would think they would have allowed us entrance at the time our tickets stated. Instead, we were rudely pushed aside. We ended up asking valet for our keys so we could wait in the car, as the venue opened up over an hour after the time on the tickets.
VIP only had one beer available (budweiser light) and vodka, with limited mixers. They eventually found us one bottle of Heineken, which was lukewarm, and started serving caipiroskas because they couldn't find the cachaca. The drinks are also served in 8 oz dixie cups...in "VIP".
But alas, the concert was good and we did have a good view of the stage. But $50 per person is way too much to pay for this venue. If I found a really good deal, and it were a group I desperately wanted to see, then perhaps I would come back.
I went to Club Cinema for the January 25th show to see Krewella. I love the group and have wanted to see them for some time. When I arrived at the venue, I immediately noticed how unorganized the entrance was. My three friends and I waited in line, without moving a foot, for about 2 hours. We all had hard tickets but within the first 5 minutes we saw the bouncer accepting 20-30 dollars for VIP section tickets. About 10 minutes after that the fire marshall shut down the entrance and would not let any more paying customers through. After another hour or so, another fire marshall came to sort out the mess. I'm surprised there wasn't a riot, I would never recommend going to this venue unless you get there a couple hours early and grease the bouncers. Anyone who is looking for a quality music experience should never, ever, support this kind of disrespect to the paying music fan.
Review Source:This venue is incredible. In Louisiana you get access these rundown venues that over charge you and don't offer much in terms of ambiance. I have to say this is by far a great place. I saw a show here in December 2012 with Miguel as the headliner and this venue allowed my concert experience to be more personable. Yay!
