Avoid this restaurant at all cost....Each time I have been there the food
was only an interpretation of what the cook thought and the service was worse!! Â They keep changing the name, menu, and decor, but hey just need to get a good cook and bartender!! Â I ordered a dish that included mole sauce, and they gave me BBQ sauce!! Â When I told the waiter and manager, he said I was wrong and that was mole sauce. Â When I asked him what color mole sauce was supposed to be, he had no idea! Â If you want additional chips and salsa, they charge you $2 each. The drinks are less than impressive; and to water them down more they load glasses to the top with ice. Â Oh
make sure you leave before the cook, because if you are in the ladies
room on his way apparently it is his job to shut off the lights w/o checking!!! Â Don't say I didn't warn you!!
I wrote this place off until the owner messaged me and told me he remodeled. Â After much debate from my first visit I found myself trying El Agave again. Â
This time the atmosphere was clean and professional.  I was not hurried to sit at a table or bothered to start my dinning experience.  The server gave me some chips and salsa which were pretty good.  I ordered empanadas and they actually where pretty good.  A couple of shots of tequila and I felt as if I was not in Pompano anymore. Â
 El Agave improved ALOT !!!
I really wanted to like this place. Â I really, truly did. Â Sadly, I don't think I'll be back.
A little background for you: this used to be Cielito Lindo Dos. Â It was bought out and changed to Camino Lindo, but kept the same menu. Â The same owner then closed the place to renovate, completely changed the menu, and it re-opened as El Agave. Â My mother and I were regulars here, and knew many of the waiters. Â Once the place became El Agave, many of the waiters were unfortunately replaced, and the new menu just leaves me wishing we had gone to the original Cielito Lindo on Dixie in Pompano.
On our visit, they brought us chips and salsa to the table. Â The chips are good and are the same as before. Â They changed the salsa, which is too bad - I liked the ones they used to serve, but the new ones were okay. Â I ordered a pomegranate margarita and the empanadas, while my mother ordered two tacos (which we used to LOVE before they changed the menu). Â The margarita was pretty good... rather run-of-the-mill. Â My empanadas were okay... they were a bit too greasy for my liking, and drizzled in sour cream, which I hate. Â There was no mention of sour cream (or really, anything else besides the empanadas) on the dish's description. Â So I spent a few minutes scraping it off with my knife. Â My mother did not like the tacos at all. Â We were hoping they hadn't changed their recipe for them, but they had, and they were just bland and could not compare to the old ones. Â
For a Mexican restaurant, this place is fine. Â It's not great like it used to be though... the changes they've made have not been for the better. We know we can get much better tasting food a few miles south at its former sister restaurant, Cielito Lindo, and I'd rather drive a few miles further away to get better food. Â Sorry, El Agave, I won't be back.
