This was a pleasant surprise; a nice little locals bar where folks can smoke and non-smokers can still breathe the air. Â I believe they have an air-filtering system. There are a couple of pool tables, video games, poker machines, and a dart board for the bored. The bar is actually very nice. The only odd thing is the glassware. I felt like I'd gone back in time to 1985; the small pilsner glass instead of the pint, small stemmed rocks and highball glasses instead of a Gibraltar glass, etc. On second thought, that's another thing that gives this little hole in the wall its charm. The music on Friday nights with Tanya and Bert is exceptional.
Review Source:I generally confine my serious drinking to the hallowed halls of an American Legion Post but I had heard a lot about the Starlite Lounge and thought I'd give it try. I'm glad that I did. It's a perfect dive bar for the serious to professional drinker, though most drink bottled beer served in chilled plastic buckets.
The place is really big, has a couple of pool tables, some high cocktail tables with bar type seating stools and one of the largest bars, by seating capacity, to be found. It appears to be a well run operation, lots of cheap décor such as some plastic dolphins on wall, a football poster or two and some out of date Christmas ornament lights encircling the interior that I suppose are meant to be representative of starlight; in this case "starlite."
The patrons are mostly neighborhood folks, all very friendly and covering the entire age spectrum but with the majority being 40-50ish.
All in all, it's one of the best bars around in which to do serious drinking or maybe in which to get flat out drunk.
