Ember is an awesome joint! Have been going there for years and I never get disappointed. There are plenty of hotels to stay nearby just in case you had just a little too much. The staff is friendly and best of all the decor and ambiance is top notch!Cant wait to see the wifey's favorite band: Moenia of Friday! yeah!
Review Source:This place is just OK for a Saturday night.
The bouncers are extremely dry and have no sense of humor at all.
I don't understand why they charge so much for a cover ($20) and so much for drinks ($8-14) when the music, ambience, and service is just mediocre.
Although doors technically open at 9, they will send you upstairs to the Spanish music until about 10:45 where they open the bottom section.
The ambience is hit or miss; the ratio of guys to girls is about 4 guys to 1 girl. It gets awkward when you pause from dancing to look around the perimeter of the dancefloor to a bunch of dudes oggling at you. And that's if, and only if, people are dancing at all.
The absolute WORST part about Ember is that the music started repeating itself at about 1 am. Is there a DJ spinning or is a CD spinning? We just bouonced early and called it a night afterwards.
Its o.k...I like the getto house music...But that is just me..I usually get on their guest list but last time we were right on time but by the time we got up to the window they said it was to late. Â So considering that we had been there before we just decided to go home. Â Its a little ghetto but all in all its o.k. I guess
Review Source:I cant believe I haven't reviewed this place. I was dropping the quick tips consistently for a while there. Wow, troll reviews much? As a former bartender, I'm not surprised. Every time a kick-ass nightclub opens, the haters start trollin' online... but I digress.
The music is always fun here and the club itself is really nice. Cute decor. They recently added a swanky outdoor patio which is great for people who like to smoke. Some cool fire-pits and even a little bar outside. They have two floors and play different kinds of music. I love the salsa night upstairs too. Pretty diverse crowd although I gotta admit my Latina ladies are dominating a bit :)
I used to come here often before I moved to LA. I recently went in with a group of girls and had an amazing time. We popped some bottles and danced all night and I remembered how much I love this place.
From the other reviews, they have a new gay night and I am SO sad I missed Raja! I'll definitely roll out with my WEHO peeps to check it.
I understand what the Yelpers are saying about Ember. Â This place is hit and miss depending on when you go because there are different clubs for different promoters. Â I decided to check out the first night of XL on Sundays (gay night) with a group of friends and I can say that I had a great time. Â We had to wait in line for a few minutes while they got everything set up (which I can forgive because it was opening night), but once we got in, it wasn't bad. Â The drinks were made strong and the prices weren't outrageous. Â We didn't get bottle service, but I didn't know it was available until I got an e-mail saying it was sold out. Â The one thing I didn't like about the club was that there is no seating available inside if you don't get bottle service, so if you're not at the bar or dancing, you'll be standing around all night. Â
The music was good and definitely a mix of dance, hip hop, 90's, etc. Â I like the patio with the firepits and extra available seating outside. Â Overall, I really liked it and had a good time. Â I'll definitely be checking out XL on Sunday nights again!
Opening Night of XL:
The Good: awesome decor, hot dancers, and Raja was fabulous!
The Bad: More than good! I drove out from LA with friends. A friend reserved table service at one price for two bottles and I was charged a different price. Our server abandoned us for "VIP." Â I dropped over $300 within the first 2 hours I was there but was ignored by our new server when I tried to order more drinks. I had to walk to the bar (shouldn't happen with table service). I was charged $5 per soda and $5 for a bottle of water for designated drivers. When I asked for a Carafe of Soda I was charged another $10.
It was my best friends birthday and I would've spend more but was so disappointed by the shitty table service I refused to spend one more dollar. Not the treatment I get in West Hollywood.
Definitely caters to 21 year olds. Not to money making and spending 30 year old professionals. I wouldn't drive from Los Angeles to come to this place again.
Regardless of the opening night of XL, the reviews remain as shitty as before. Tabitha needs to take over to save this place, if it doesn't last I wouldn't be surprised.
I hope the owners read this and work on improving what I have read over and over in the reviews, they may need to hire a business consultant. If you have one fire that one and get a new one. Preferably one that has experience in business not night clubs
The first time I went I said would never go back because the valet guys stoled my name brand shades from my car.
Then for new years, all my friends wanted to go there so I had no other option. Had the WORSE EXPERIENCE!!! The security personel are non experienced of what they should not do and treat everybody like criminals.
It was almost closing time and I was sitting by one of the bottle service table (which the owner of the table offered me to stay there, the security guy told me to move because I did not paid for that table and I explained to him that the guy told me it was ok, then he grabs me and moves me from the seat. first of all, he is not supposed to touch anybody from any reason, (I'm a girl) He called another security guy and takes me and all my friends out from the place. Do you think that is correct what they do at that place? I was not drunk, neither I was causing any problems. Do you think that the manager did anything or apoloyize for what happened? NO, he did not care!
Conclusion, this place is the worse I've been, and I would NEVER GO BACK again.
Horrible!!!!!!! No idea how they got my phone number but they are spam texting me for DAYS on end even though I have opted out with every single text. Horrible business practices.
Every phone number that is listed goes to a voice message and you can never contact a person. They say call their executive offices ??? Now that's some bull if I've ever heard some!!!!
WHATEVER YOU DO - never give anyone from this club your number. They will txt and call you at ALLLlLlL hours of the day and night!!!!!!
Avoid this place at all costs. The owner or promoter spams you incessantly via text. They purchase your number from an agency and will not leave you alone without threat of legal action. Â I have turned them into the FCC, and will continue to do so until they are shut down. Â Exactly how ruthless, inconsiderate, and slimy do you have to be to troll for customers?
Review Source:I'll been to mostly all the clubs in OC, LA and Vegas. I asked myself what I was doing there??!! It was a double date night and my girlfriend and her boyfriend wanted to go there to see Sex Panther after we had dinner. Ok fine, she knew the promotor and we were getting in for free. I refuse to even pay $10 to get into this place. I'm not shallow but the men are really short and creeper-like. And talking about the girls, lets say they were trying to get into the smallest dress possible and their muffin top were busting out. I think women are beautiful in all shape and sizes but not when I'm seeing cottage cheese ass cheeks and thighs jiggling everywhere.
Really wack music from the 90's. Sex Panther was alright.
My biggest turn off is the bathroom attendent. Did you really have to put a lesbian bathroom attendent and looks like she's going to beat someone up?
We tried to make the best of our night and had after spending shitless about of money for their watered down drinks. I won't be returning.
this review is solely based upon my experiences @ the club Ember Saturday.
I went to check out the Club on Saturday, October 13, 2012 the day Sex Panther was to be there.
My review:::
1. the promoters - Â Ok. Â I was the guestlist and still had to pay 15. WTF!!! Whats the guestlist for...
2. dress-code - Â They need to get stricty on it. Too many people wearing tennis and -tshirts. Make the club looks very ghetto crowd.
FYI: Ladies If u are going to were a short skirt to the club, u know when u dance ur going to be pulling it down. Hello!!!
4. Drinks - Pricey for watered down. They are not too strong. They are served in small cups.
5. Music is ok even though they play some new songs and alot of old hip hop songs from the past. Kind of wack!
The club is okay if u take a date. But if ur single its not cool for guys because women who r single act too stuck up as if they r the shit, but they r not.
I would not recommend people from L.A TO COME to this club. I am from L.A. Not worth the drive.
I rather party where its always poppin in DTLA or Hollywood.
I went here on a Thursday night since in not 21 yet,
Overall compared to Pulse LA QC 20/20, Ember didn't quite match up to it.
PROS-
AWSOME MUSIC, the DJs here know how to keep the crowd going. Me and my girl were dancing the whole night! This is the only club I've been to so far that plays more than one techno song and I think it's great that the DJs play such a variety of music.
The venue is really gorgeous! All the palm trees and tiki torches makes it look really pretty outside. The patio has these cool fire pits and it is soo pretty.
CONS-
The guys were just...EW! Being a girl, I like to see cute guys at the club but here I couldn't pinpoint ONE single guy I would dance with.
The dance floor is small for the amount of people on it. I got stepped on a bunch of times and could've been easily hit in the face on accident by drunk people.
I drove an hour to this location, so I'm not quite sure if I'd go here again.
Review for Thursday 18+ night:
As other review say - valet was annoying! Â They made us let them park our car when there were parking spots open right next to the door?? Â We paid the $6 up front. Â Then when we left the club the asked for tips. Â We said no because that's ridiculous.
Things got better though! I liked the vibe inside the club. Â Only 1 dancefloor is open on Thursday nights, but there was just enough people to fill it up.
DJ's were GOOD. (if you like top 40 music, tyga, E-40, etc.) Everyone was dancing and feeling the music.
Overall:
This club may be a good choice if you're local and wanna check it out!
But I wouldn't drive more than 20 minutes to go to it - it's not that amazing.
18+ Pulse Thursday
I came here about 2 weeks ago (on a Thursday) with my cousin and we had a good time. We had fun because we ALWAYS have fun wherever we go, but the club itself isn't too bad.
The lines are a little long but you'll get in faster on the guestlist. There is a separate line for us 21+ ADULTS and another line for the youngsters. lol Also, I think they have an "express" line that moves quickly for $5. At least that's what I heard.
The music is pretty good. We danced the whole time. The venue is smaller than other clubs I've been to, but not too small that everyone is just packed in there.
Drinks are average - in price and taste.
We parked for free at the Pep Boys next door.
Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back.
Music is just fine. Prices for drinks are expensive. If you want to get buzzed for less and have fun, buy a bottle of vodka or whisky, prepare your own drinks for the times you want, play some party music and you will do better than coming here.
I used to come here often back in 2010 but lately it has become a guetto club where anyone can just come in, get drunk, nasty with girls and start pointless fights.. Security bouncers are the typical high school dropout kids... more muscles but not brains or courtesy.. dont come here if you are celebrating a party!!!! there are better clubs than this in OC.
I like that they play some great old school joints- it really brings you back and gets you going. The drinks are strong though you wont get away with paying less that 14-15 a pop. I like that there are 2 floors as it gives you the option to escape possibly music you're getting tired of- or men stalking you- run! Â The employees here as far as the promoters and waitresses were very sweet and genuine and do all they can to make sure everyone is having a good time.
Now to the cons-  The DJs have a habit of playing the same songs 2 to 3 times and I hate that! C'mon there is enough good music that you don't have to replicate a radio! They let me on the stage to request a song to which he smiled and nodded- and then NEVER played it- though it definitely would've made everyone a lot happier than having to hear his same old shit over and over again.  DIVERSITY!- there is NONE.  Everyone is of  the same decent, I even met some who seemed to have a hard time speaking English- major turnoff and doesn't make the establishment very attractive. The tiny groups of different races I came across were little 21 year old boys- babies who don't know how to treat women anyway.
Also- after already paying $6 for valet, the boys who bring you the car back- pressure you into giving them a tip saying 'Oh I'm poor can you please help me out?'...maybe you're poor cause you keep knocking up every woman and their sisters down the block- why don't you get a real job nasty little chumps!
I'd probably be back to dance- but I would never pay a cover and I will probably predrink so it's more enjoyable!
It's noting like the Vegas or Hollywood clubs but its a nice place with good people!
parking is free, at any LA club u pay $10-$20 for parking
get there be4 10:30 ur in FREE u wait only like 5 min LA clubs u wait 15 -35min before ur in the door.
Drinks are a good price im use to paying about $14 for a mix dring its only $10 here.
out side patio area is really nice good place to get a drink and talk to people, in side the music is good at times but some times they play to much house music, depending on the DJ, Saturday nights it get packed but more people more fun, and the guards here are nice there not dicks like the clubs in LA.
Loved that they had valet parking. Â Went on a Saturday night without being on a "guest list" and had no problems getting in. Â Cost was $20/person. Â The music was top 40 stuff and well done. Â Drinks will cost you about $10 a pop. Â The music was extremely loud, but you get used to it. Â Stayed and closed the place out. Â
As you would expect, the girls are dressed in the shortest, tightest things they owned while the guys were much more casual.
I really enjoyed the decor and thought they place had a hype vibe to it. Â The only downsides were that they allow drinks on the dance floor which meant that by 2am I was dancing in about an inch of sticky beer and discarded lime wedges. Â So don't come here with your expensive shoes because they will be ruined.
They lost a star because apparently they attract a crowd who thinks its cool to snap open "stink bombs" on the dance floor that made it smell like raw sewage for about 5 minutes. Â This happened twice in three hours. Not cool and very juvenile.
The first time I went I went for a bachlorette Party and It was fun..
The second time I went with my two cousins (both female) and it was so wack!!! We had more fun at Denny's lmfao!! it's funny how it says 21 and up tho because I got in being 18.. so kinda weird but I had fun.. well the first time I don't consider it to be ghetto either lol people over exaggerate maybe compared to Hollywood clubs and if you make friends with the security they give you free drinks ;) hahaha I learned that
xo Hope I helped
I have never been to such a GHETTO club in my life like this one!!!!!...Never ever going back! The security staff does not know how to do their job! In the line they were very unorganized, they we're letting one person at a time in the club and stopping the whole line for like15minutes, splitting the groups! The security inside the club was worse! Some guys were on the stage and they opened a champagne bottle and poured it towards the dance floor! Everyone got wet!... The security did not do anything! I had never been so humiliated in my life!!!
Ghetto club!!!! Do not recommend, just stick with Hollywood!!! Seriously!
This rating deserves no stars, but it doesn't allows me to do it!
I was like fresh meat thrown into a lions den. I was almost eaten alive if it weren't for my wise decision to not drink that night.
What to expect:
Parking: According to the security, you can park at AutoZone. I did and my car was still sitting there at the end of the night. It'll take you longer to get your car from valet than it would be to walk and drive off from AutoZone's lot.
Entry: Get on a guestlist and come early. It gets PACKED.
Crowd: Predominantly Hispanic for a Saturday night. I can't speak for the other days. The guys are pushy, will grab you towards them, and dance up on you even after getting rejected-desperate. And if you're an Asian woman, you are a hot commodity so expect this with every corner you turn. As for the other ladies in attendance that night: eye candy.
Music: Main floor plays Top 40s to Hip-Hop. Second smaller dance floor plays Top 40s, Hip-Hop, Reggaeton, Spanish Rock, etc.
Drinks: Priced right. Made right.
Layout: The club itself was very beautiful. Indoor cabanas line one wall with a bar adjacent and across the room. The DJ booth is situated somewhat in the center of the room. There's a second small dancefloor upstairs with booths and sections of tables and sofas. There's also an outdoor patio with fire pits.
Ember isn't my scene, but I'd do anything for the birthday girl. Happy Birthday Ana!
So I felt kinda bad reading all these reviews as I believe this place is not that bad. ONLY and ONLY if you go with friends!! It was only four of us, and I was on the guestlist, there was no problem getting in free. I was standing in line for maybe about 5 minutes when they quickly let us in. Only reason I like to go here is due to the short distance from my house, hookahs outside on the patio and a lady making quesadillas and tacos in the patio as well.
This place looks chic! I was impressed actually....but then the crowd came in about around 12:00am! Dude, all I gotta say is wear some freakin underwear ladies!!!!!!
I was already sobering up around 1:30 (desig driver) and I'm dancing away when for some reason I glance in front of me and my eyes naturally go downward towards this chicks hip area and you know what I see???? Now if you gag easy please close my review because it gets nasty......I saw this chick's lips, yeah lips down there, and yeah spread apart!!!! She was grinding on some guy so disgustingly ugghhhh I had to leave.
Anyway, the pros are if you go with your friends, do some hookah have some quesadilla have some drinks and dance you'll have a great night. Plus people walk around taking your picture with great quality resolution I must say!
Cons? Well, ghetto people, slutty (I swear looked like they were 18) chicks walking around without any underwear, crowded sweaty people pushing you around on the dancefloor....you get my point.
Only go if you live nearby, go with friends, get drink before you arrive, be there by 10pm, be on the guestlist and you'll be set. :) Good luck haha
We went to Club Ember for my friends' birthday on Friday and we had a mixed experienced -- with more bad then good because of customer service. Â If you don't want to read to full review-- here it is nice and simple. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
First, the good, so that you won't think that I just want to hate on the place. Â
We got bottle service, so we had a pretty pimp out space at the top of the dancefloor (btw dancefloor and bar by the entrance). Â The space was big, comfy and a lot of room for dancing and chatting (think about 12 people). The bill was pretty expensive -- roughly $650 for some kettle and grey goose. My friend got a free Nuvo for bringing 6 girls with her. Anyhoo, the music was pretty good, there was a DJ from Super Estrella. Big dancefloor (which a big plus for me) and the people were descent.
Now, the bad. Basically, this place has horrible customer service. Â
Right off the bat, the valet service was horrible. Â We waited in the car for 15 mins until they took our car. Â They were taking cars from only one lane but had two going. When we asked them if we should move to the other one they said to hold still and they would get to us. Yeah. That took forever.
Next, my friend had talked to one of the promoters and he basically promised her free entrance for everyone before 10:30p, booze at a certain price and a great table. Yeah, that didn't happen. Â They charged half the party to get in because they said there were too many of us. Lame. Don't make promises you can't keep.
Then, the table was at a horrible spot -- basically the first table at the entrance. We asked to be moved because that wasn't what we signed up for. Â When we communicated this to the hostess, she said everything was booked and we had to upgrade meaning we would have to get another bottle. We said fine as long as we got the bottles at the same price. Â At this point, we moved and ordered and when it came to pay for the bottles, they weren't the promised price. Â Everyone was really frustrated at this point, so we just paid.
Everything was good ... booze and dancing.. until the end of the night until for no good reason, security started kicking us out of the booth. Â When I asked him why they were kicking us out they said that ''someone requested that they clear the booth" . Umm, being the one in charge, I was outraged. Â They should have doubled checked that whoever was issuing orders, was actually in charge. And, if security was lying to me, well its BULLSHIT. Â No one was acting out of control and there was absolutely no reason for us being kicked out. Â When security was done pushing us out of the club with their flashlights, I complained to security outside and they said .. 'whoops, sorry, mis-communication". Â
In the end we left, very disappointed. It was good only bc of the DJ and our determination to have a good time. Customer service is horrible, and I will never be spending money there again.
Thumbs down!
One word..... Â GHETTO!
I wanted to have a good night out with my friends without having to drive far but I should of drove far far away from this place.
It looks so nice on the outside and kinda nice on the inside but everything around it and in it and about it is horrible! The area it's located in makes you feel so unsafe, like ur gonna get mugged once you leave. Â The people inside are worse. I'm hispanic myself but the people were a shame to my race. Nobody seemed to be having any fun and they seemed to think dancing is something you do by standing around with a corona in your hand.
At the end of the night the guys got way too drunk and so aggressive one actually grabbed my friends hand so hard and pulled her practically across the room and wouldn't let her go! Hmmm I wonder why there are so many bouncers inside the club??
Please don't bring your friends, especially your classy ones here BIG MISTAKE!
I received a spam text (my 2nd, 1st was on Christmas, of all days) on Friday night. Â I replied back to Mr. I look-a-like-a-douche-de-la-vega and told him the club is crap if they have to spam and that I'm going to submit a post about him to <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FTheDirty.com&s=245d2cb31c7baa2928c3a95aceaebcf3ef0193e570bb1f643b5e97ce5e37c5ab" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://TheDirty.com</a>. Â Imagine my surprise when they texted back APOLOGIZING, and that they would delete my number. hahaha!
Maybe that is the trick people, threaten them with The Dirty (and someone actually submit a post if you have time, complete with George's douchey picture, please!) and maybe they will stop the spamming. Â I'd like to see Nik Richie pull George De La Vega apart!
Their promoter George De La Vega is sending spam texts to everyone in the 714 & 562 area codes, totally unsolicted. Bogus to the max.
Complain to the FCC about his spam, let's get this jerkass fined: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fcc.gov%2Fcgb%2Fconsumerfacts%2Fcanspam.html&s=b6aa18c0a76c20e1b3e05c0423542ca058ec67ee52b3284fa4472486680226a5" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/c…</a>
Never been to this shthole. What is weird is that I heard about them spamming. Then one day I got spamed myself. Unbelievable. I have no ties to this place whatsoever. With so many other reviews about this dmbass promoter spamming random 714 numbers , I am surprised the FTC hasn't bent him over yet.
Don't go to this place, don't let your friends go to this place too.
I have been receiving the unsolicited text messages from George DeLaVega, as well.
Yelpers, if you're so inclined, check out the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which states that for every unsolicited message you receive without permission entitles you to take the sender to small claims court and collect a minimum of $500 (up to $1500) for each violation.
I have three such text messages saved on my phone, so far, so it may be worthwhile... I apologize if my posting of this information stops the unsolicited texts for those of you who may have already known about this law, and were waiting to collect enough texts to reach the $7500 maximum limit for California small claims.
***Disclosure: I am not a lawyer, and do not play one on TV.***
This place MIGHT have been hot if it was:
a) the year 2004,
b) located somewhere in the 90028 zip code,
c) a line of people running down the sidewalk
d) sprinkle of paparazzi outside
AND
e) slated to serve as a backdrop for Lauren Conrad's social life... (and begins the demise of it being a "hot" place).
Instead, there is a nicely painted restaurant club on Anaheim Blvd, smack between a bunch of automotive businesses. A visual gem, akin to a cubic zirconium.
I didn't actually go inside, so I can't speak on that. However my group made it to the parking lot, where it's valet ONLY. As in MANDATORY. Right, because parking anywhere else in Anaheim is so sparse....
There were small groups of people hanging outside, but no actual line. We were on a guestlist with no specified closing time, however when we arrived we were politely reprimanded for being "late". Apparently the guestlist closes at 11pm, and even then you still have to pay $10-$15 depending on your gender. The woman with the list acted like she was doing a favor to let us in (note: no line, anywhere), but when we got to the door, it was $20 to get in.
Huh? ? ? ? ? ?
Do the words "economic recession", "Anaheim", and "where's the nearest dive bar" actually mean anything to this place??? Bars in Hollywood are charging less than that --or nothing-- and have more hype! Hell, even the hipsters are riding their bikes to bars and keeping it GREEN and posh. Last I heard, bling bling and Escalades are thing of the past, no?
Anyways, we did an about face and walked out.... seriously, don't waste your time here.
My experience with this CLUB was not the greatest, It sucked. Luckily my friend's roommate bf has got us in for free with no need to get in line.
The inside of the place is nice. There's two floors, but it's kinda small. The people are so GHETTO. Indeed "lot's of wabbs and hoochie". The music is WACK... I don't know how people dance to the crap they were playing. I was bored as hell and so were my friends. Â There were a lot of drama & fights happenin'.. Like seriously it's a club, you come to dance dude.
Anyway, I would never come here again.. I feel like i'ma get shot up in this area. lol
My experience with this CLUB was not the greatest, It sucked the 2 times Ive been there. Luckily my friend has hook ups and she got us in for free and with no need to get in line.
The inside of the place is nice, really fancy looking but as you enter the club and head down to the dance floor you get a foul smell of SEWER! (gross)
The people are so GHETTO and no cute guys EVER. Â Lot's of wabbs and Hoochies. The drinks are expensive and the music is not all that. *no kudos* will not be back
Friends brought me to Ember one Thursday evening. The outside is a bit ghetto, but who cares - you're partying indoors. A friend paid my cover, which was $10. Not sure if I was on the guestlist, but that seems steep for the area.
Their main room is a reasonably-sized, high-ceilinged space. There was a surprising crowd (did I stumble upon Asian night?), with lots of attractive revelers. Multi-colored lighting made me feel like I was partying in a gigantic container of Fla-Vor-Ice, and funky globes hung from the ceiling, providing visual interest, along with the friendly go-go dancers bopping to hip-hop and pop. VIP-level seating and couches are spread throughout, but most of the party was concentrated on the dance floor, thanks to the DJ.
Chris, our bartender, was pleasant and, I'm pretty sure he knew how to mix alien secretions (fruity tasting shots). After a round of straight Rumpleminze ($8/shot), we ALL definitely felt pretty happy. Later I had a Coke, and laughed when he charged me - in his defense, it WAS obvious I wasn't a designated driver. While waiting for our car to be brought to us, Chris ran outside to return a credit card that we almost forgot. (Thanks!)
I enjoyed myself at Ember thanks to my super company. Heck, I had such an enjoyable time I woke up slightly ill! This place seems a bit confused for Anaheim - mandatory valet, seriously? - but once they nail down their target audience, they might be onto something.
The club is trying too hard to be something it's not. It's neither a friendly place for the locals nor a chic transplant of the L.A. clubbing scene. Since I can only rate the place on a five-star scale, I'll try to break down my rating into five objective categories: (1) design, decor, and ambiance, (2) music and dance floor, (3) bar and services, (4) price and value, and (5) overall experience. Keep in mind, in order to earn a star in each respective category the club had to do just satisfactorily in each area.
When I first pulled into the club, my expectations were already somewhat soured. It was directly across the street from an Autozone and the whole outdoor setting was misaligned with what someone would expect where a slick club to be. Instead of high rises, a nice commercial center, or at the very least a nice neighborhood, you're confronted with Autozone and a highway that stares into wall of suburban gated community. Surprisingly, the inside of the club was nice. It gave off a sleek, but not elegant flair. It had a clean white modern bent with dimly colored mood lighting to accentuate the whole look. It looked decent enough.
Half of the clubbing experience is being able to enjoy the music and getting to the dancefloor. In terms of music, they played mostly R&B and mixed up the playlist with occasional old-school throwbacks. The music was definitely appropriate for getting down, but the dancefloor was rather small.
Sometimes, when I feel like dancing, I need some liquid courage to the put the step back in my get-up. The bar is located conveniently away from the dancefloor. I found both the bartenders and security detail to be friendly and adequate. The bathroom was clean, but rather small for such a large club.
Like many people, the biggest thing to throw me off was the forced valet parking. Although it only costs six dollars, I didn't like the fact that you could be denied entrance if  you did not use their valet parking even though there was parking available all around-- obvious attempt to cash in. The cover fee is ten dollars. Drinks range from six dollars and up. For the scene and the quality of the club, I was surprised to find that a Heineken cost seven dollars.
The overall experience? Meh... Everything ranged from decent to subpar.
The music comprised of  popular dance mixes and the crowd was pretty plain and stuck up. Many people shied away from dancing. I found myself dancing with one of the promoters, actually very cool. Besides the parking situation, another big problem I found was a lack of seating near the dance floor. All the seating accommodations on the first floor are reserved for those paying for an overly priced tabling and bottling service. Overall, the club is too overpriced and snobbish to successfully cater to a more relaxed local crowd and not slick enough to attract the right niche and to create a good clubbing experience.
No. Chance. In. Hell.
If you want to get shivved in the kidneys or shat upon by 10-pounds-of-potatoes-in-5-pound-bag "bottle service" girls, this is the spot. Crowd was so bad that I honestly felt like I needed a weapon. Carry.
My summary: a promising idea gone bad. Yeah, there are some nice elements (Although I do think that hot-box smoking patio is kind of disgusting. Like an ashtray with couches.) and some of the staff is really nice, but they all sort of have this look on their faces that says: "Maybe it's time to go back to college." A bit of a downer.
Not sure what the hell happened with the restaurant. Based on my peek into the service entrance near the men's bathroom - the kitchen looked like something from a movie about submarines. In a word: Teensy. "Check that sauce! No, no - that's the soda machine!"
You know what that usually means: "How do we justify our Type 48 license? Throw food at 'em!"
Meh.
They were supposed to be doing a bunch of shows but... I guess spinning Mexican music over house beats will have to do. NEAT.
Too bad. Anaheim needs some love.
My justification for the one star: Watching already-drunk cholos being refused by security - WHILE STILL WALKING TO THE VENUE - for parking on the street. That is HIGH-larious. Â
"My shadow will never darken that doorway again."
p.s. Good luck gettin' that wheelchair up to the VIP.
When I visit places, such as Ember, I make a little wish--a wish, that one day, Yelp creates a "Negative" star rating.
This places deserves a NEGATIVE 5 star rating.
From the parking, the drinks, the crowd, the restrooms, the worst DJ EVER....everything about this place is a disaster. Â Avoid like the plague!
If I can give this place 0 stars I would. It's like a wolf in sheep's clothing.
We were 12 of us there for 2 of our gf's bday and there was a Obama rally at the same time at dinner.
Problems-
1. Food wasn't even listed on the menu
2. Food took 30-45 mins to get to us...and I'm talking fries ppl!
3. We were being shushed by the Obama group even though we were there obviously for our own party-and after 1.5 hours were finally moved downstairs where it was COMPLETELY empty. Uh, why wasn't this offered 1.5 hrs ago??
4. We were charged $50 EACH shot of Patron (waiter gave us the wrong kind-uh we were ready to party but not that much!)
5. Bill came out to be $700 and that's AFTER they comped us $200 for a lousy time. Total was for 4 fries, 3 lemon drops, 6 shots, 3 mojitos, 2 margaritas, and 2 beers.
6. The ladies bathroom sinks sprayed water all over the place.
7. Park there if you want your car to get dinged...there's hardly any space.
In summation-this place blows. Service is sorely lacking and it's extremely overpriced and underclassed. Come here if you want to get ripped off and have a lousy Bday party.
Generally I'm not a club kind of guy. Â I'd rather be eating peanuts at a local bar downing an Arrogant Bastard (if you've never had it you must venture out to Stone Brewery) while reminiscing about the good ol' days with buddies. Â But hey, my buddy was DJing there and called me out on a Thursday night, so being the extremely awesome friend that I am I obliged. Â
Can't say much about the music because I only checked out my buddy's set (had to go home early and get some sleep for a tourney). Â He's good you should check him out if you like trance (which I generally don't), Prometheus D. Â
The venue is actually pretty nice inside. Â Looks like most clubs with a dance floor out there, some chairs, and a bar.
Drinks are average priced.
They don't let you in unless you valet....wtefffff! Â No seriously, they robbed me of my choice to park where I see fit. Â If you are going to REQUIRE valet, don't charge for it, punks.
It's a regular club, just like any other, except it forces you to pay for parking. Â 3 stars for average - 1 for higher than normal costs = 2 stars.
I probably will never be back on my own free will.
