A small theatre that was just recently refurbished with all the charming, ornate details you'd hope for. Â Tickets aren't the cheapest, but I suppose they have to make some money given the size of the place. Â Only 700 or so seats total, which means an intimate feel and good view of the show wherever you're seated. Â A major bonus -- it offers more leg room than any other theatre I've been in.
Review Source:I've recently vowed not to give out too many 5 star ratings, but this place deserves it. Â
Lovingly and wonderfully restored, this theater seems like it belongs in a city less rough than Pittsfield. Â That's the beauty though, this place is the centerpiece of the Pittsfield downtown revitalization. Â Formal enough and high society enough to sip wines with colleagues, but down to earth enough to share a beer with your buddies. Â The range of performances shows a desire to shoot for the stars with big headliners as well as a continued endeavor to keep the community engaged with locally sourced and/or targeted performances. Â I hope this place only has great success and keeps up the good work.
Some time in-between writing this review and now I was also able to see It's a Wonderful Life for free here. Â The families that piled into a packed house showing really enjoyed the experience. Â I couldn't help but think that there was a corollary present between the idyllic world presented in the movie and the wonderful pre-xmas world we were able to partake in at the Colonial.
