I came in with a decent-sized group of friends for part of a birthday celebration on the day of the Wine Festival. It was a "private party" within and made it very cozy. The workers even made small talk with us and it was an enjoyable experience overall. I enjoyed the atmosphere and service. The glass of wine I tried was quite good as well. Â I would recommend this or go back.
Review Source:This place is great! Love their wine flights. I highly recommend the Spanish flight. They also offer a great selection of beers to try, and they change seasonly which I love. Super close to the beach, allows dogs and everyone behind the counter and visiting as guests seem really friendly, intelligent and knowledgable about wine. Very cute and very fun.
Review Source:This is a great place to stop in and have a flight of beer and wine. We started with a platinum flight, Ben briefly went over the wine and we were left to talk and enjoy the wine. Afterwards we had both flights of the beer, I am not into flavored beers but the ones they had were great. From blueberry, tangerine, banana bread and chocolate stout. Their nectar IPA was very good from the other flight. It's a nice place very relaxed and was about half a block from the beach. It is a must stop for beer and wine drinkers alike.
Review Source:What a disappointment. Â As we walked in at 3pm we were informed that they were no longer doing tastings. Â I said that we had traveled from AZ and a friend had strongly recommended their establishment to which the brunette bartender barked "Ugh, we can TRY to accommodate you but we are terribly UNDERSTAFFED AND DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH GLASSES." Â 1. I don't need people to TRY and accommodate me and 2. It's Memorial Day weekend- the place was not full and they were having trouble with the "crowd"? Â More like trouble with the willingness of the staff to wash some glasses and serve their customers!
Horribly disappointing service, rude staff, cannot accommodate a (less than) full house on a holiday weekend. Â I highly suggest calling in to make sure they are still having wine/beer tastings at 3pm in the afternoon! Â
We went next door and had a wonderful time.
4 stars for being by the beach and cheap flights!
Love the set up and feel of the wine bar. It's very laid back and plenty of bar space. I got the Gold Flight for $6 and it came with 3 wines. Not bad!! It's no high-end tasting as you would get in wineries in northern SB. Service is great and the crowd is friendly. I randomly chatted with a couple people around there. It's also close enough for a stroll to the beach as well!
One of my fave spots in Santa Barbara! A great place to get a delicious Pinot Noir flight or a refreshing beer, if you need a break from wine. There is a wrap around porch with bar stool seating perfect for people watching. It is a younger, more energetic crowd than some of the other tasting rooms. It is a must every time we're in Santa Barbara!
Review Source:I love wine, but haven't been to many tasting houses. This one sets the standard for me now. I admit that what got me in here was The Sugar Cat lady's cupcake tastings on Sunday afternoons. Truly remarkable cupcakes, light & delicious, she is gifted with the buttercream frosting. That said, I will update the review once I've returned with a friend or my husband to have the full experience with a wine flight and glass of wine. The decor is so inviting, warm & relaxing, and everyone is so friendly. I look forward to updating this review!
Review Source:What's not to love here?! Corks has more flights than any other small tasting room I've had the chance to frequent, so there really is something for everyone. I love that they offer both local and international wine options, as well as beers from SoCal hotspots and breweries in other states. I most recently got to try a bunch of Boulder beers here - it's so interesting to see what other areas have to offer!
They've also gone a step further than other spots in the "Funk Zone" and teamed up with local bakeries and restaurants to offer food flights that compliment their wine and beer offerings. I love that small business teamwork, guys! And it says a lot that they put in the extra effort to expand their clientele and bring a new dynamic to their tasting room. Keep up those delicious burgers and cupcakes!
Last but not least, I have to gush about the staff and the overall ambiance that they've helped create in this cozy little spot. They really make you feel like you're right at home by remembering regulars and talking to you about more than just wine and beer. I'll obviously be back as often as I can :)
We came here for our second stop on a wine tasting afternoon with some friends. It was much more packed than our first place and definitely had a different vibe. A little more like a bar. That's cool if you're expecting it, but if not I'd skip over this place. They pour all your wines at once for the tasting which is kinda weird. Good wine though.
Review Source:Stopped here on a whim en route to Deep Sea coming from another winery. So glad we did! Got a quick beer tasting and really enjoyed the Genesis ale. I hope the next trip out I can spend more time at Corks and not so much in a rush so I can really let my mouth absorb all they have to offer.
Review Source:I came into Corks with one intention - DRINK ALL THE WINE. Â Except I wanted to be classy about it so we'll call it wine tasting. Â I opted for the Platinum series since it featured a wine, Brander, from Santa Ynez Valley (when in Rome). Â I usually find Sauvignon Blanc wines to be too sweet, but my fears were immediately cast aside with one sip - this was made for me.
The other reds were less interesting in contrast, but I had found my one true love, so no matter. Â I went to buy a bottle and was told if I bought two, I'd get my flight for free. Â Well hey! The difference was only $4, and I thought the wine was amazing, so I took the bait and brought home two beautiful bottles. Â Maybe I'll even share one. Â But probably not.
I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area, and find something new to love.
My fellow food and booze lovers (and one Yelper) in SB swear by Corks and Crowns and twice my boyfriend and I nearly went to a party but couldn't make it at the last minute.
And I hadn't been motivated, aside from Funk Zone's confusion and parking issues, to go because I thought it was like Oreanna or Carr's, both of which are kind of dingy and physically underwhelming. And C and C doesn't look particularly cute from down the street but up close and inside, it is DARLING: leather couches, bright colors, warm wood and a fireplace.
I went alone for St Patrick's Day as boyfriend not feeling well and enjoyed the New Zealand flight of wines--two Pinots (one mind-blowing, the other very watery and not good) and a spectacular not sweet Riesling I would buy if I ever became a member of the club. I explained my problem: I have very few social friends I actually see in SB and the club is good because you can bring friends for tastings but the people I know in SB I just don't see very often.
But this is THE place to come in the Funk Zone when you're by yourself as everyone is extremely friendly and I ended up hanging out with two fun, sweet young people  (32) from Montana who now live in San Diego and SB, along with an even younger friend of theirs who lives in SB but will be moving to New Zealand via Italy soon.
I had intended to try one of the beer flights but whenever I intend to venture into the craft beer world, wine always exerts the stronger pull.
The Sugar Cat Studio St. Patrick's Day cupcakes were phenomenal, every bit as good as Sprinkles and much lighter than Crushcakes, one of our big cupcake places in SB. Whodadilly in Montecito on Coast Village folded some time ago and a fancy bakery not specializing in cupcakes took its place so I just don't eat cupcakes in SB. Look her up on Facebook--an adorable young woman from upstate New York featured on the Food Network-and she caters and takes special orders.
I brought 6 mini-cupcakes for my boyfriend and he loved them, particularly the "Shamrock Shake" cupcake, my narrow favorite of the three. The frosting--Bailey's--on the chocolate was outstanding too.
The staff is knowledgeable (and quite young) and the outdoor patio is nice. This is almost to Cabrillo, which I will remember next time I go on Yanonali, and the parking frankly sucks (as it does all over the Funk Zone but you could pay to park at Enterprise Fish/Amtrak and walk a few blocks). I lucked out and got a space in front but that was a fluke (or a gesture by St. Patrick).
There are levels of club membership and if you think you will do the bulk of your wine tasting/drinking at one place, I imagine it's worth it. If , however, you like to make the rounds of SB wineries, it probably isn't worth it unless you buy a lot of wines by the bottle.
I can't believe how much fun I have missed at Corks and Crowns and plan to make up for lost time presently!
What intrigued me is the fact that they have wine and beer tastings.
On Sunday, there are [mini] cupcakes available along with your tastings (3 for $5).
I opted for the sparkling wine tasting (3 tasters), and my date opted for the Pinot Noir wine tasting (3 tasters).
The tasting room is spacious with a couple wine bars, outdoor patio and some indoor lounge seating. The girls behind the counter were working their butts off serving a full tasting room.
Although we didn't purchase any of the wines, we did enjoy our tastings and cupcakes ($30).
I was talking with our server re: the cupcakes and it turns out that she was the one who baked them. Moreover, she won Cupcake Wars! I was starstruck - I met a celeb in Santa Barbara!!! HOLLAAA
One of our stops along the Urban Wine Trail, and by far the best looking. The atmosphere was good, the service was okay, but the sparkling moscato was amazing!! We got two flights of beer to taste at $7 each and sat outside on the porch to enjoy the nice day. It was a Tuesday day, and the place was very slow so we would have expected the bartender to be a little more friendly and inviting, but I digress. We didn't particularly love any of the brews, but we saw a sign on the chalkboard menu advertising sparkling moscato, so my girlfriend had to try. She loved it! We ended up leaving with a bottle! I would like to return for another bottle of that spectacular sparkling moscato, but I'd skip any of the tastings here and go elsewhere for that.
Review Source:Various selected flights from different regions, domestic and international.
They seem to change them every other month.
Tasting room is really nice, if it was my living room I would be quite happy, it does get crowded and quite loud sometimes.
Overall a great change from the usual tastings from just one source.
I stopped in here on a Monday afternoon while waiting to catch a train. Â I had past by this place the Saturday night before and it was packed with people and looked to be a lot of fun. Unfortunately I couldn't pop in that night. Â On a Monday afternoon, it wasn't packed, but it was well worth the visit. Â There were a few different wine flights to choose from as well as a beer flight. Â I chose the gold flight, which was 3 wines for $7. Â They were wonderful wines and really decent size pours. Â The bartender was great to talk to you. Â I was hesitant to stop in to taste wine by myself, but he made me feel comfortable and I enjoyed his conversation. Â Next time I'm in SB, I'll stop in again.
Review Source:(*Cue movie trailer voiceover actor) Â "In a world...where there are many tasting rooms battling for the ultimate in wine experiences, only one has the courage to fight and make their indelible mark on the storied Urban Wine Trail...Corks and Crowns: Â Part One. The Destination"
Their tasting room on Anacapa is rustic and inviting. Â There are two things that set them apart from most other wine tasting rooms in the area. Â First is that they do craft beer tastings as well. Â So it's perfect if you're with someone doesn't care for or about wines. Â But, Mr. wine detractor, I ask you to open up your mind and palate and give their wines a try. Â Well worth it. Â The other thing that is different is they aren't a winery and therefore aren't limited to just one label's wines/beers. Â They sell and promote what they like, mainly of California, and what they think their customers will appreciate. Â Viva variety.
They offer different flights at varying prices. Â The Gold (Award winning California wines), Platinum (California 90 point+ rated), and Diamond (California 93 point+ rated) are priced in ascending order. Â They have a Pinot Noir flight and an international flight too. Â If you are a member of their wine club (Oh shit! Â Foreshadowing), you get a free tasting corresponding to the wine club you're signed up for. Â (Gold wine club, free gold tasting, so on and so forth)
Buy a glass after your tasting, enjoy it on their front porch and breathe in the fresh ocean air. Â (*EXT. Â Sunset on the Pacific Ocean)
TO BE CONTINUED...
(*Back to Mr. V/O) Â "You thought the review was over. Â You thought the past was all in the past. Â Well...think again. Â From the writer that brought you Part One: Â The Destination, comes the most anticipated paragraphs since just a moment ago. Â Part Two: Â Members Only!" Â (*cue loud thunder clap)
Hi kids. Â Thanks for joining us. Â Speaking of joining, their wine club is awesome. Â They do monthly shipments, never mind that quarterly delivery nonsense and every month it's from a different winery. Â Not the same wines circulated every few shipments. Â (Kalyra, I'm looking in your direction.) Â Each month, we look forward to a delicious new discovery. Â Besides, who doesn't love getting packages? Â Remember Christmas?
So cheers Corks and Crowns! Â We look forward to each visit and the gifts you send us every month.
THE END(?)

Great crowd, location, and atmosphere. This place is laid back and casual with a good vibe. They have both beer and wine tastings for around $10 a tasting. Half our group went with beer tasting and the other with the wine tasting. They have the Seadog Bluepaw beer here, one my faves! I love the lounge area with the fireplace, real cozy.
The service is friendly and everyone is pretty knowledgeable about what their serving up. Plus, dog friendly.
It was really crowded when we went towards closing on a Sunday night but the outside had sufficient seating around the tasting room. My favorite part is that they have beer AND wine tasting. A lot of people in their mid twenties to thirties. WAs a good vibe. I thought they have wine combinations for different ranges (from around $7 to $25). The wines I tasted were OK. They accommodate everyone and make everyone feel welcome. Any negative reviews surprise me. And location is great! Many tasting rooms next to each other and 5 mins from the beach.
Review Source:We visit Corks anytime we are in Santa Barbara. Zach and Lauri are knowledgable, friendly and have introduced us to a large variety of wine. Â Corks is a great place to relax and unwind. Â I enjoy being able to taste different wines and then have a glass. Servings are generous, service tremendous, varieties of wine can't be matched.
Love Corks N Crowns!!
This is the place to be for socializing on weekends. Always an interesting crowd and plenty of eye candy to boot.
I love the eccentric selection of wine. So far I've enjoyed most of the flight tastings. The only one I haven't enjoyed is the German flight. Take it from me, stick with German beers. Don't bother with German wine! Other than that, I think the different types of wine and beers Corks n' Crowns provides is what sets this wine bar apart from the rest. They definitely have the best in international variety. It's different and I like that.
Also, the management and service is stellar.
This was the most happenin' winery in SB that I visited! Lot of people that were in for tasting, and lounging near the fireplace and having a great time.
They have a variety of tasting flights here (3 wines in each flight):
Gold Flight: $6
Platinum Flight: $12
Pinot Noir Flight: $10
Diamond Flight: $18
German Flight: $8
They even have a beer flight of 4 craft beers for $6 if you're a beer lover!
My bf and I shared the Gold Flight and the Diamond Flight. Some of the wines were really unique with lots of different flavors. They also gave us complimentary crackers to munch on. I enjoyed this place because of the fun vibe, Â unique wines, and also because the guy pouring was really friendly and made us feel very welcome! I would definitely come here again.
Fun fact: if they end a bottle of wine while in the middle of your pour, you get to try and shoot the cork into a giant wine glass. If you make it, you get a free tasting!
Overall a fun place! Try this one out!
Beer and wine flights so everyone in your group can be happy.
Lodge feel with front deck, fireplace and cathedral ceilings, even when packed and loud, it does not feel crammed.
Tasting options are plentiful and change regularly with themes like all Italian, hard to find and 90+ points. Try now and buy it by the glass or bottle to enjoy with friends.
Parking can be a pain so when you do find a spot on the street, you'll want to hang out on the Urban Wine trail and spend your afternoon "tasting". Enjoy!
If you could go to one tasting place in Santa Barbara, I'd recommend this one! Â Although I love Kalyra wines, I think this place is fun because they have so much of a variety, with wine and beer flights. Â They have a traditional beer tastings, as well as fruit beers. Â You can apply the flight price to your wine/beer purchase, which is always a plus. Â
The flights are pretty affordable (normal for the area), with a range of options for different prices (i.e., chardonnay/white tastings are cheaper than some cab/red tastings). Â
This is the best place to take a group, even if they are newbies to the wine/beer tasting world. Â The location is great - take a walk along the coast after you taste!
The only reason I give this place four stars instead of five, is because the staff weren't the friendliest. Â Not rude, but not nice and welcoming either. Â But I've only been here once, so maybe next time my experience with the staff would be different.
I think Corks and Crown was the most fun of any of the places we visited.
They have indoor and outdoor seating. Although the outside seating is limited, its great on a warm day. We even chatted with some of the people as they walked by on there own tour of the area. They let us smoke a cigar outside which was great as this is becoming less and less an option anywhere. They have plenty of indoor seating with two bars and even seating next to a fireplace for those cold days.
This was the 3rd place we hit and on our urban wine tour and the girl behind the counter was very patient with us as we asked for a taste of this and that before we settled on our order.
For those of you not into wine or for those that would like to mix up your wine drinking with a beer then this is your spot.
They have wine by the glass, and flight from $6-$18. On the day I visited they also had two different beer flights for $6 each. Each beer flight came with 4 beers.
I ended up going with a beer and wine flight which wan me $12 for both, yes that's a great deal as well.
As the girl behind the counter was pouring my wine the bottle ran out, so she had to open a new bottle. No big deal right? Well they have this cool little game that when the pour ends on you, you get to keep the cork and try to shoot it into a Giant size wine glass, if you make it you get one of your tasting for free. You guessed it nothing but wine glass, I get one of my tasting for free. It was pretty cool as most people knew what was going on and I got a big applause after making my shot.
I tried the wine and beer sample.
I have to say that I prefered the wine samples over the beer samples but I'm chalking this up to having been spoiled by European beer which IMHO is far superior to American beer - even the mirco-brews. Â The staff are really, really nice and the clientele are pretty cool. Â I ran into quite a few regulars which speaks volumes about this place. Â I'd highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
Wine & Beer Sample
After tasting some wines at Municipal, we decided to do some wine hopping! Â This place is a little more elegant than Municipal. Â The staff immediately asked if we needed help and gave us suggestions. Â We sampled the wine and beer. Â Yes, you heard me...BEER! Â Such a cool place that has both combinations! Â And get this, if you buy a 6 pack of beer (your choice of beers), then your tasting is absolutely free! Â They give generous servings of the wine and beer and I felt a little light headed after my tastings. Â Our server gave me some yummy jalapeno crackers! Â I loved the crackers. Â Next time, I need to catch the brand of the crackers. Â All I know is the crackers came in 6 different varieties.
