I can't say enough about a place when i stop in for one and stay all night long almost every time...... Â Bartenders are great, (great looking too), Â great live music with bands on weekends.
This place has really come back from the dead ever since there was an ownership change. Â Good job. Â Rock on!!!!!
When we heard there was a bar open late that recently decided to change it's name due to the amount of stabbings that had previously taken place there, naturally- this was a our first choice in Ladies' Night celebration destinations.
While out with the female counterparts of a bachelor party that my BF was attending we were looking for a late night place to continue our lady-party. Who could turn down a side splitting (re: stabbingly) good time at The Pocket... or the artist formerly known as The Corner Pocket. Apparently taking off the 'Corner' part of the name has made people feel a lot more relaxed and less stabby at this establishment. Congrats on the successful re-branding!
Anyway, walking in we found they card hard but are very nice once they know you're legal. The mohawked guy was a sweetheart and the super cute bartender girl, Laurie, was a riot and poured a mean drink. The DJ, I'll be frank, was succotash on the night we went. We were the only girls there and the only people, less the 4 other bar patrons, to utilize the mirrored dance floor. I think the prob was the DJs lack of tunage... or possibly lack of appreciation for lady themed song requests such as, but not limited to: Nelly Furtado's Maneater or Ladies Night- the Left Eye, Angie Martinez, Missy Elliot, Da BRat version, Brazilian Girls' P*ssy, Brandy and Monica- The Boy is Mine. But if he really were lacking- why would he promise and then not fulfill? Scared? M'thinks so. Mainly because he straight up left the DJ booth early and only came back when one of the ladies took over his post to put on some Ginuwine to ride our ponies to.
I'd say that out of the 4 other people in the bar who weren't also employed by the bar, 88% were kind of creepy (if you can do the math on that). I was a little buzzed at first but after deciding that I should limit the number of glasses I drank out of considering my lack of health insurance, I nursed waters in plastic cups so I didn't feel like I was in a compromising position... especially since we outnumbered them by almost double. For the first hour the 'cowboys' stared at us and got real close like they'd paid for a ticket to see us sing, talk to each other, and laugh about what our guys were prob doing right then. Then they backed off and focused on their poison after that- maybe they weren't Brandy and Monica fans either.
Once the DJ had disappeared for good we had a decent time on the Juke and actually made this stabby bar the after party for the wedding. On Saturday with a huge group was fun bc they had a sexy lady with a taco tent set up in the beer garden to grill up tacos and quesadillas that were both the most amazing smell and taste after having previously drank A LOT at a wedding.
Yes, the place is dirty but if you go in with a good attitude and try not to cause trouble there's a good chance you'll leave in one piece with no more holes than you came in with. I approve- though I defo wouldn't pay a cover to get in here.
This place offers great entertainment, awesome service, and genuine personalities. Â When I stumbled across this place, I was looking for a cold beer and burger for Monday night football. Â I was impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant, and the food was great! Â Originally, I thought I would watch the first quarter of the game and have some dinner. Â After interacting with some local patrons and staff, I stayed through the entire game. Â It didn't stop here! Â Immediately following the game, Karaoke started up. Â The personality of this community really came alive at this point, and I was hooked. Â During the Karaoke event, an incredible taco cart set up on the outdoor patio, and once again, the food was great. Â The owners, who are relatively new, were on premise and interacting with everyone.... morale of the employees, and customers, was top notch. Â I stayed 'til just before 2am. Â Thanks for the good times!
Review Source:So I would have completely agreed with the other reviews viewpoint until my recent visit changed my mind.
I was out with a friend for her friends sister birthday. I went to many places that night that I would not choose, but that is besides the point. The first thing that I noticed was that the inside had been remodeled, well maybe not remodeled, but they had moved things around a bit. There was now a stage in the back where the pool table used to be and there was a rockin' band playing-Bluefish. They did cover songs, but the singer Steve told me they play originals, too. They had seriously made my night. Not so sure I would have had as much fun if they weren't there, but I am willing to go back again and give them another chance.
It is in walking distance to my home, so i would like for the reputation of this place to improve, it would be nice to have a neighborhood bar to hang out at on occasion.
