I wanted to love the "Stellar Cellar"! The interior is great-there's a nice big bar/lounge with room to gather around its perimeter. The dining area is also inviting, hip, and implies that Stellar Cellar is not only cool, but is wine-focused and aims to deliver a fine dining experience.
The menu is nice-there could be a few more fish and veggie options but our party of 5 found choices we liked and were very happy with the the food we ordered.
Here's the problem-the quality of the service and the knowledge of the staff. We got a wine list and when we asked the server for recommendations it immediately became clear he knew nothing about the wines being offered. Stellar Cellar??? The servers MUST be knowledgeable about the wine list. Our server suggested we look at the wines displayed near the entrance. Um, thanks-very helpful. We selected a red & white on our own. the server brought the red, but just showed us the white which was at room temperature and said he would chill it. What? No, we explained-we want to open & drink both of these now! He didn't understand what the problem was so we just gave up, drank the red, and ordered a few cocktails as the white chilled. About a half hour after being seated-we each had something to drink.
Overall, the service was painfully amateur.
If the Stellar Cellar wants to succeed long term and be considered a gem and a place Riverside County can be proud of, they need to learn from the big boys. Service matters, service sells. The staff needs a real training program so a high level of service is given to every guest-a level of service everyone employed can be proud of and one that makes customers confident in returning to and recommending the Stellar Cellar.
