Restaurant Hunter got this one WRONG!
IPA beer was good and service was good. Food was terrible!
Everything was overcooked from my kids chicken fingers to the fried clams to my wife's  beer mussels, not to mention their signature gorgonzola burger.
Chef clearly doesn't know the difference between well done and medium rare. When I originally ordered it was suppose to be medium rare, it came back well done. When I sent it back, they served it again RAW!
This was suppose to be a great pub recommended by Restaurant Hunter and they clearly got it wrong.
MAYBE THE FOOD TASTE GOOD WHEN YOUR DRUNK?
We stopped here on the way to Dave Matthews @ Jones Beach. Great place, as they had Happy Hour with discounted beers and 1/2 price appetizers. They pour a good Guinness. The wings were real good too. We had the Skirt Steak, but that was a little chewy. The service was outstanding. Definitely recommend Corry's before or after a concert.....
Review Source:The WARMEST tap beer in town! If you want something cold, walk a few steps to the west or anywhere else for that matter. The selection is not the greatest either. Whoever put the lines in should have done a better job.
It's too bad to, because the food is very good.
Not a problem, lots of places to go in Wantagh!!!
My appreciation of beer is held in dear reverence. Farewell to the days of coronas that require the zest of a lime to induce enjoyment, or those of drinking the " classic American" coors and Budweiser, trying to find the inspiration behind the creators of what couldn't be put in better words, completely bland and atrocious brews. Bud and Milwaukee tried to get on the " craft beer wagon" but their corporate prestige failed miserably!
I've been to Corrys twice. Both times were great with one inconvenience on a Saturday night when the place is PACKED to the point where everyone has to squeeze through others for a drink or general maneuvering.
Awesome, standout selection of beer. And coincidently they offered three of my favorites; goose island Matilda, stone IPA and dogfish head! I tried a few others apart from the forementioned. Clean taps, fresh beer, cool bartenders and the crowd is tranquil. If going out for a night on the town in wantagh make this place a first stop!
I had very high hopes that this was going to be a new craft beer spot.
But sadly I can only give it 2 /1/2 stars...maybe a second chance will get it to 3. Â But it seemed to fit every bar in that area. Â Mixed group of customers which i liked the older crowd, but the typical loud mid 20-30 age group.
The food did look good though I didnt order any, the beer was good. Â Though what they were charging for celtic ale they acted like was a deal. Â The bar tender was nice and attentive.
Though being a clean freak I watched the bartender pick up a shot glass and put them on his eyes like fake goggles...which I wouldnt care about...but he put the glasses back down as shot glasses to be used after they were in his eyeballs....pretty gross in my book.
St Patrick's Day at this place was totally worth it! I felt a little out of place at first being the only Hispanic amongst so many Irish. It's all good though. The food was EXCELLENT! I had read about these Irish Nachos and had to try it....well let me just say they are delicious! Homemade potato chips with mashed potatoes with lite bacon and scallions....Mmmm, Mmmm GOOD! Then I had the seasoned turkey burger. Made to perfection. I had a raspberry cosmos. It was okay. Wish I drank beer but just don't. Had an awesome time with colleagues. My fav was when the patrons began singing to Billy Joel. I had a really great time. Service was fantastic. Will be back!
Review Source:Stopped by last night for Happy Hour and had a great time! I walked into a crowded bar and it was only 1700! Found the only open seat and made myself at home. I had been here once before and was salivating for their Jamaican Jerk Chicken. Ordered that and Macaroni and Cheese with a Delirium Tremen on tap. Simply marvelous!
Sat next to a bunch of regulars who bragged about just about everything on the menu. Next up was a Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA on tap. They have about 20 draft beers and 50 bottles/cans. Their  food menu features lots of appetizers (which are half price during HH), wings, salads, burgers and entrees. I spyed some really great looking dishes go by and really wanted to take a bite of the roast beef with cheese sandwich which my neighbor was plowing through but thought that my new friends may not quite like that. But I am coming back for more. That's for sure!
I was here last night, saturday night. Â Ive been here before plenty of times. The beer selection is great, bartenders are ok, not the friendliest guys I have ever met. Â The food is excellent at this place. Â Buffalo wings are crispy, sauce is great. Â The macoroni & cheese I had there one time was awesome!! The best beer they had last night was lagunitas little sumpin sumpin. Â It tasted so fresh and really hit the spot. Â I couldn't stop drinking those. Â
The only thing that was a bit of a turnoff was that there was no buybacks. Â I don't remember that happening in the past but for some reason last night I ended up paying through the nose. Â Other bars in the area always buyback so I'm not sure if I just had bad luck or what. Â I'm sure I will be back at some point but there are other bars in the area that you can get better value, such as boss crokers which has excellent food and the prices are cheaper and you get buybacks. I woulda given 3.5 but rounded it to 4. Place would have been a solid 4 if there was at least 1 buyback.
Corry's is a little gem on Long Island. They have a fairly extensive beer list (local and domestic), but tread lightly because they don't put prices on the menu -- not ideal for beer newbies. I've only ordered appetizers here which are better than the average pub. There are a couple of unique items on the menu, like the mashed potato egg rolls which were very good.
I've had a little trouble with service on extra busy nights (weekends) but for the most part service has been pretty good. Definitely a nice place to go for a drink if you're in the area.
Went here to catch the b-ball game last night. They a good amount of taps, although they don't have the more common stuff like Blue Point or Yuengling. The crowd is a little older (40s/50s), but that means less chance of dbags starting fights.
I tried their Irish Nachos and their blackened chicken wrap...then plunged into food heaven. Handcut chips and fries perfectly season with rock salt and ground pepper...ZOMG. The chicken in the wrap was perfectly rubbed with Caribbean spices and it was nothing short of amazing.
Our waitress was quick and attentive, never let our drinks run dry, especially with all the spicy food we had. The bathroom is a little claustrophobic but super clean.
Definitely recommend this pub for a relaxing dinner and drinks. Will definitely go back!
Having never been to a Long Island bar before, heading here for my sister in law's 30th birthday was quite the anthropological experience. Music ranging from country to pop to a gay bar's soundtrack (a little In The Navy), a preponderance of fake nails, hair gel, and even boots with stilettos further served to confuse me. Add that everyone was drinking cheap draught beer, even though they had a menu of deliciously awesome drinks, quality whiskeys and imported/domestic bottles.
Finally, after a while of standing awkwardly, I finally secured myself at a table, and ordered an incredibly delicious pumpkin pie martini and observed the Long Island native. It was loud, crowded, and a bit over priced, but I'm guessing that is how Long Island pubs are expected to be, so it was pretty middle of the road as far as that. Don't know if I'd return on purpose, but it certainly was an interesting experience.
Corrys is a great spot to eat and grab a drink. Â I probably wouldn't stick around for many drinks after dinner though. Â When we went we sampled a bunch of appetizers and they were delicious. Â We went back another time and had entrees and they were also all delicious. Â There was nothing we did not enjoy about the food there. Â The beers were around 7 and 8 bucks which seems like city prices but in nassau.
Review Source:Inside this great alehouse is an awesome restaurant.
Great burgers!!!! Â I love the Corry's burger stuffed with blue cheese and scallions. Â They make awesome homemade chips and the Irish nachos are a must have - crisp chips smothered in Dubliner cheddar, scallions and bacon. Â It's like potato chips drowned in an awesome cheese fondue!!! Â Great wings too and the buffalo chicken wrap packs a spicy punch!
And with 20 draft beers and twice as many bottles to chose from the bar is just as strong as the restaurant. Â The staff is super nice and the cocktails are stiff.
- Friendly staff
- Good beer selection
- Nice decor
I find the food to be okay. Â Pretty basic pub food, which is all you can ask for. Â Def. better than Paddy's Loft!! Â I am happy that an Ale House like Corry's in the area. Â Like I said in the above tabs, the staff is really friendly every time I go. Â They have a good beer selection. Â Def. worth going back to! :)
I thought the beer list was more than formidable. Â They represent various Long Island brewers very well, with a mix of others, too.
I don't know how often they change the taps though; I've only been there once.
There's a different price for each beer which I thought was weird; one was $6.50 and another $8.00; according to the bill. Â They advertised a $5.00 special on Long Ireland draft like it was a good deal. Â
The menu is typical bar far, with many different types of chicken wings. Â The jerk rub was good, but the wings lacked the indefinable characteristic that has you running back. Â Honestly, the whole menu seemed uninspired. Â
I was very surprised however to find 20 or so people inside (all guys) on a Sunday at noon. Â Must have a good following.
When you find yourself being handed a delay or detour to your day, you can do a couple of things.
1. Freak out
2. Stress about it.
3. Find a local bar and let it go...
Missed your Train, the cab is late, car is going to be in the shop for a few hours? Don't pace around, go for a drink.
Stopped In today while I was waiting for my car to be fixed.
Enjoyed a couple of glasses of Long Ireland breakfast stout to kill the time.
Bartender was very cool, place was clean and had a good selection on tap.
I'll stop by again.
So i stopped by this place around 2am, after a late night at Mulchay's. Â These types of places are more my scene anyway. Â My friend and I walk in to loud laughing at the bartender who is so trashed he can barely stand. Â I order a Guinness and water from the drunk bartender which comes out to be 7 dollars and some change. Â Not satisfied at the high cost i went over to another bartender, and a bar back to ask how much a Guinness is and they both said 6.
EDIT: I have spoken to John and and his wife, the owners, and they have gone above and beyond to rectify this situation. Â They assured me this would not happen again and they poured over the security footage to identify and correct the incident. Â John's effort to ensure that his customers have a great experience combined with the sincerity of his actions are the reason why i am editing my initial review. Â - John i wish you and your wife the best, and happy holidays.
Ok, so I head over here to meet an old friend about a month ago and instantly take to the place. Â Very nice, open, friendly and being i've never been to Ireland, its a perfect Irish Pub to me! Â I've been there twice more since, and most likely will make it a weekly/bi-weekly stop because the tap is awesome, the food is amazing and the people are friendly. Â What more can you ask for in a pub!!!
Cheers!
Former Brick & Rail spot just south of Wantagh train station. Â Good selection of beers on tap, friendly staff. Â This place was totally redone before they opened and it looks great. Â The beer selection is good. Â I enjoy stopping in for a beer after getting off the train, but one of the really great things here is the food. Â I've tried a number of different dishes and have not been disappointed yet. Â They have their own parking lot which is a bonus.
Review Source:So, Ive been to Cory's Ale house before but this past weekend was the first time that I have been there to try their food.
First off, the place is sooo welcoming and tastefully decorated a far cry from the Wantagh Inn and Mulchaey's that are very near by. Â I think this area needed a place like this where you can come chill have some good
beers and  hang out with friends
The food was delicious and a great value for the money. Â The Buffalo wings were not terribly spicy but the sauce was good none the less. Â The fish and chips were very nice. Â A fluffy batter with flakey fish. Â The portions are just right not huge, but also not skimpy. Â Friends burger was nice an pink on the inside, and what I observed other people eating also looked very good as well
The waiter we had was great knew his beer list very well was able to talk about what they had on tap and a warm person all around. Â The manager or owner not sure what she was walked around and made sure everyone was happy and satisfied.
If you are looking for good beer, and great value for good food then I highly suggest you check this place out on your next venture
Until it was recommended we try it last night I didn't even know that this place existed. When I parked in the parking lot I could immediately smell tasty food wafting out of the kitchen. When I walked inside I saw that the place is well decorated and we were directed to sit wherever we wanted. When the waiter walked over, I quickly became aware that he was on point and very knowledgeable of the beer menu. Everything on the food side of the menu sounded fantastic and was affordable too. I went with the Bull burger, ordered it rare, and that's how it arrived. Next time I'll just state that I want the egg runny. Â All in all, I was very happy and will be back to Corry's again.
